    I always add one tbsp chana dal too.. That gives lot of sweetish flavour.. I boil dal with one cup milk and 2 cups water.. Add cream in d last

    Shillpi your recipes are mostly awesome nd easy to prepare....but pl answer queries of critics also...if someone is saying not to heat honey or not to mix milk nd butter....pl reply nd clarify that comment also....not good to ans only praising comments nd ignore others

    Absolutely wrong way of dal makhani..
    Tomatoes never become part of real dal makhani..
    It's a combination of 3 types of dal..
    Learn it properly from any vendor in Ludhiana, Punjab.. daily staple food plus national food of Ludhiana..
    Please don't mind.. but don't misguide viewers here.. first learn yourself properly then teach others

    I too have experimented in a myriad ways. But, the simplest and most authentic preparation is the one as told by you bcoz too much and too many masalas spoil the natural taste and turn it unpalatable and astringent.
