@@JamesTurnerYT I don't know why they do this kind of mechanism... but I think, if the keepers fill the feeders then the animals will be no longer hungry, so won't play with the food toy, which is more attractive for the people looking in... But it just a theory.
Just to note, the Komodo Dragon’s fertility is at 0%. I expect you’ll pull a Classic James in the future and wonder, “Why aren’t they having any babies?!” 😂 Love this series so far, I hope you continue it for a while!!
@Hophif you research the animal, you get like a 15% bonus somewhere in the middle of research and 30% bonus by fully researching them, meaning a 0% fertility is then 30% likely to have offspring :)
@@Madrovity very exciting, but the pay is terrible. Its really a job you need to love to do. My best advice is trying out work experience in a zoo. You'll get a feel for it but also valuable experience which you absolutely need.
I wish I could say the same... but the deal I have with my husband is finish my BA thesis (January final deadline) first before I get the game (as a graduation gift...)… thank goodness that James is already building stuff...
I did Indonesian in high school and had to learn about komodos. I had a heart attack when he lowered the barrier because those things are incredibly venomous and are quite fast runners - I don't know if they can climb but one dare devil sticking their hand over the barrier = dead dare devil. Loved the video though :-)
@@ashullu I ended up Googling it and komodos can climb - (according to Wikipedia) mostly done when young to avoid being eaten but can still be done into adult hood, just not seen as often because they're better able to defend themselves.

Every time the game suggests more shelter, it makes me happy that the animals get a chance to retreat and James complains that you can't see them enough anymore 😂
As Indonesian, I sure that Komodo Dragon can't jump. But, young Komodo Dragon (1-2 Yo) is capable to climb a tree...also Komodo do bite people and if komodo bite you = Death because they've venomous saliva lol. Really love this Planet Zoo series :D You can search "Pulau Komodo/Komodo Island" Pic to help you make more realistic habitat for them.

Omg yes more planet zoo!! I used to play zoo tycoon 2 all the time as a child! And wolves were my favourite, I used to just go into creative mode and focus on breeding all of the cutest wolves and different wolf packs. Honestly such a good game, I can’t wait to buy planet zoo!

It is by a distance area, so even if you hide the buildings, the customers are still negatively affected within a certain area. Can't wait to see more videos!

The top left, in this game, has a lot of critical data and windows open there by default. It's hard to follow along with what you're doing and learn as we can't see! Finally someone who builds zoos and roller coaster parks the same way I do 😆 I usually have a circular path neat the entrance then have like 3-4 different paths going away from it. 😆 Thought I was the only one who did it that way.

Hi james! Ive been looking forward to this series so excited its finally here! And i love the exhibits that youve made so far! I did just want to say, that even tho you only have two exhibits up, it almost seems kinda random? Most of the zoos that ive been to like to make groups for certain animals. Like for example with your komodo dragon, they would tend to keep most (if not all) reptiles in their own area. They also tend to place animals in zones that are related to their country of origin. I think if you plotted out your zoo in that way, it would be more ogranized? Of course you dont have to do this haha its just a similation and its your game! I cant wait to see more of this series!!
You might want to check the heatmaps. The "negative impat on guests" one will show you the radius in which staff facilities will have a bad impact on the guests. And under "Habitat" you can filter for "traversable area" and "shelter", it will show you with a selected animal where it can move around, escape and which areas count as shelter. Quite useful. For next animal, how about one of the tortoises?

i was in thailand and saw a monitor lizard coming from a river and climb up a stone wall. not sure if komodos can do the same thing
