In 1972, Luigi Chinetti and the NART Racing didn't find any driver to race with this car because it was considered as dangerous and too slow compared to other cars. Only one driver finally agreed to compete with it : Jean-Pierre Jarier. Jarier finished 4th at Road America. At the end of the race Chinetti told to Jarier : "You have the choice, I give you 7000 dollars or I give you the car. You could do what you want with it". Jarier choose the money. Nowadays, he says he made the wrong choice !
General Lee I’m a huge Ferrari fan. I’ve been lucky enough to see and some cases sit in some of the rarest and greatest Ferraris, the 312PB and 333SP are two cars I am trying to hunt down.
This could theoretically reach 1800 HP or more ... with the last 8.5 liters of the project perhaps 2100 HP according to the former head of the technical team ... the normal unit had 1300 HP ... but this Ferrari did not admit it because he didn't have the money to develop the car and compete with the Porsche 917/30 ... short project
MA CAR that’s insane, real shame they did not develop the project further, I think it could have been a real challenge to the Porsche 917, which has become a legend.
@@F1YMS i think so too... I wanted to talk to those who really worked on these projects, today they are 80 years old but real pioneers of the car and family friends... But Can Am was ephemeral and perhaps it was right to abandon even if they could make a better advertisement into Ferrari team
MA CAR it would be great if there was more information on the project even though Ferrari didn’t develop the car fully, it is still very interesting in itself as I found it difficult to research. This is one of the highlight cars I have filmed for my channel and seen at any of the numerous shows I have been too.

General Lee one of my favourite Ferrari sports cars.
F1 YMS Absolutely agree
General Lee still haven’t seen a 312PB and 333SP, would love to do a video on them.
F1 YMS me too! Cause I’m a Ferrari lover ❤️🇮🇹🇺🇸❤️🇮🇹🇺🇸

Waw
Yeah, stunning car - Spent a long time looking at this one.
I had one but I crashed it
You should take driving lessons. lol
Mario didnt like the 512.. in Can Am...they rushed it..
The S in 512S means Sport not Spyder.
See tab for body work referring to 'spider' not sport auto.ferrari.com/en_EN/sports-cars-models/past-models/512-s/
Doesn't say in tab that S means Spyder.
Will double check on this, thanks.
OK. Steve McQueen didn't race a 512 either.
I didn't say that in the video, he drove the Porsche.
Porsche never claimed 1,500 hp.
