I can't believe there's only 1 comment. This is a great break down of All About Reading. I hope more who are considering this curriculum come upon this video. Thank you!
All About Reading has been a game changer for us. We decided to homeschool because my 4th grader still had not advanced beyond a 1st grade level. He has the basics, but could not decide or put the sounds together. My son has autism ADHD, and dyslexia. This curriculum has cracked the barrier keeping my son from decoding. We are now on level 4 and working through the spelling which nicely reinforces the reading methods.
I feel so encouraged watching your videos! I’m about to start kindergarten homeschooling with my first and I’m already feeling behind but your words and gentle spirit have been uplifting to me. Thank you for speaking truth over us mamas!
thank you for this and your honesty! I have a struggling reader. But she just turned 6 and seems a bit more eager to learn to read this year. Hope it stays that way!
I used “teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons” it was very cheap and effective, but it was dry. I’m getting ready to teach child number 2 to read later this year. I think we will go for this. Great video. Thank you!
This helped me make the choice! thank you for such an informative video! I have a second grader that is struggling so bad & i wanted to switch to something else bc i don’t think abeka is working for her & have been feeling like such a failure! she just picked out lots of books she’s interested in & i ordered this curriculum. Thank you!!!
Thank you so much for this wonderful thorough video on this curriculum. I have a struggling reader and was on the fence about this product but you have sold me on it 😊
Hey Angela! How does this curriculum compare to “teach your child to read in 100 lessons”? Also, any tips on homeschooling with children who aren’t ready/interested/short attention span? Thankyou!
Hahaha 😆 the monster noises. I gotta kick out of that. It was great lol I kept replaying that part. Great job. I am awful at giving ziggy a personality and voice of his own.
From your personal opinion do you think it’s better then the good and the beautiful? And why sorry I just want to make sure on my thoughts before making a decision this year
Just chiming in here since I didn’t see a response! We are using the good and the beautiful and I’ve loved how open and go it is and my kids are learning well. That being said, we’re switching to all about reading and all about spelling because it’s a bit more thorough and uses the orton gillingham approach. My kids don’t have dyslexia but I’m an Occupational therapist and love the idea of using the multi sensory orton gillingham approach - I think if you use TGATB, just make sure you supplement for spelling and handwriting.. TGATB isn’t super strong when it comes to learning how to spell IMO.
Have you ever seen Christian Lights curriculums Learning to Read then Reading as well as their Language Arts books? I’m between that and AAR and AAS for my 6 soon to be 7 year old son
Hi, thank you so much for your help as English is my second language, I’ve been nervous thinking how I am going to teach it. I’ve seen you unboxed the TGAB do you do this two curriculum combine or how do you mix them or do one first and than the other one later?
This was a great review!!! I know this video is old but maybe you’ll see this. My daughter is in kindergarten and we do not currently homeschool. They follow a phonics program at her school but I’ve noticed that she is struggling when practicing on books she brings home. Would this program be too easy if she’s already learned some of these beginning lessons? I was thinking that we could work through the program this summer to make sure any gaps are filled but I don’t want her to be bored if we are starting “over”. I also don’t want to skip to level 2 and have her be discouraged.
Every homeschool mom and co op teachers have told me try to start over and with phonics depending on what they lack in , mine is 8yo and her struggle is blending sounds
Do you recommend level 1 for a kindergartner? She is very interested in learning to read but doesn’t yet know all her sounds. Or should I start her with the pre-reader level?

I just started to homeschool and I was looking into this curriculum!! This video came at a perfect time!!

This has been my absolute favorite also for all my kids! Getting ready to use it on number 4!
I’m going with this one for my kindergartener this year. I so hope it works for us!
Fantastic overview!! Definitely solidified my decision to do this with my 1st grader!

You can breeze through the pre-reading! I love that for my little ones. Then start level one thereafter.
