The dog is played by Vera's real life dog, Strudel--Fiona Spence had 2 of them at the time.
Must be why pup gets all happy wiggle butt when Vera storms into the laundry... Strudel's all "mommy!" haha. very cool
Thanks for the info
thank you ! makes it even better knowing that
what an actress!
Fiona Spence is a lovely actress in real life nothing like her character of Vera but she enjoyed playing her all the same. I guessed the dog a king charlie's spaniel belonged to Fiona's in real life anyway.
Funny seeing 2 bitches and knowing which one the real one is.
Lizzy always starts singing her old music hall and vaudeville songs when she's happy lol.
Kblogg 777 Especially when she's pissed.
Yup! My favorite will always be the old Christmas classic...
🎶"Four tired whores
Three French kisses
Two pots of beer
And then me shot of whiskey"🎶
Everybody sing along!
😂
Lizzy and very best scenes together
I love Lizzy she is a classic 😂
Meg and the little boy both have the same haircut, they must go to the same hairdresser. :)
An upside down Tupperware bowl and a pair of scissors can do wonders. :-)
lol. True. It's very much a Tupperware trim ;-)
Hair by Lego
I wonder if Gilbert Broadway specialised in the ‘basin’ hairdo
Aww! Strudel knew her mum
Wagging her tail and walking toward Vera. 😊
How long dose Judy have to wear that head bandage 🤕 lol 😂
Until Jesus, Santa & Buddha gather together and spin the dreidel to see if there'll be 6 more weeks of Christmas! DUH!!!😂
Ahh Vera, you finally got the dog you wanted when you were a child. Finally, a living thing to love you unconditionally. You do surprise me at times. It seems as though every 40 episodes or so we see some human compassion spring from Vera.
Vera's more vulnerable than any of the prisoners. It's only her self-imposed armour that she feels protects her.
Looks like there's a new top dog at Vera's house
I kind of agree with Vera. Dogs can be better company than people.
Merilee S. So very true. I love dogs, it's people that annoy me.
Patrick Nabors yup. I even find her love for dogs to be a slightly redeeming thing about Joan later on in the show. Well, I at least identify with her on that. Lol
It's interesting, really. They write Joan in such a way that you can see how she came to be so cruel. She had the capacity for affection and relationships, just like everybody else, but her experiences didn't fit society's norms, and even those who were less prejudiced still had some wrong ideas about her. There was not just the dog; there was her lover and the compromises she was willing to make to keep her. There was also the little boy. She would probably have made a good and caring guardian for him. There were several other small incidents besides.
Frank Talk I'm at Joan's episodes now and I completely agree. In all honesty, she and Vera are the only two characters who never got on my nerves at some point.
No, Vera and Joan both definitely bothered me and I would have been frightened to meet either one in real life. But they both had good stuff in them and their undoings were not entirely of their own making.
Awww, Vera has finally found a true friend. ❤
20:52 - Mandatory TV bowl cut on the kid.
So, who else went "awwwwwww" when Vera pulled the dog dish out of her bag...?
Of all the characters, Fletch the Letch has some of the absolute best storylines in the series so far
That was a funny PCBH moment when that part goes "Elizabeth Birdsworth!... I sentence you to Six Months Detention in Wentworth Detention Center!." "YOU LITTLE BEAUTY!."
Aw, Prudence is so adorable - she should've had a credit. The way she looked up at Vera was so sweet.
Doc Greg Miller is back, showing Erica his and Karen's wedding photos. Actually in real life actor Barry Quinn who played Greg Miller did in fact marry Peta Tappano who played Karen Travers as they fell in love on set of PCBH so when he shows Erica his wedding photos here they were his REAL life wedding photo's.
That's a pretty cool little bit of info
Its very obvious Vera owns the dog in real life because the dog wag its tail when Vera enter the scene.
Did she really own the dog, or is that just a guess?
Lamp Shade That dog was Fiona's
Heather Eckermann I since discovered she did- coz of lots of RUclips commenters! :) So cute :)
Director "wag the tail dog' (dog) "Grrrr!"
Well trained dog. My dog used to go hysterical when she saw me come in. No restraint whatsoever.
Evil Geoff Butler return's and Jim's wife and kids days are well and truly numbered, the clock is ticking as well see....
I love Vera, she is such a great character!
Mouse finally speaks! I noticed her around the 50 episode mark the second time round watching it.
Ray Meagher was scary with each character he played on Prisoner but not at all scary as Alf on H&A. The dog is adorable.
Ray was even more menacing as 'hammer' heavy Bob Temple in The Great Bookie Robbery check it out a brilliant miniseries! 👍
Love it when Lizzie looks at Vera when Mrs Davidson says, it’s an organisation for stray dogs. Classic.
Yea that’s why prisoner was so good especially lizzy
This episode was written by Denise Morgan the best writer they had
I used to watch this with my nan brings back good memories
How come, neither Meg nor Jim bothered to mention that Geoff blocked the front door, smashed a bottle on the wall and brandished it in their faces at Meg's house!! And why didn't they make written statements immediately after it had happened? So unbelievable...
+Lamp Shade
That's why they call it a TV Show
Lisa Wortman And welcome to the 'comments section' (rolls eyes)
ouch, that hurt my feelings, NOT.... hahaha
I agree with you, Lamp Shade.
It IS a tv show, but bloody hell, a lot gets unsaid in Prisoner, which makes you want to kick someone's arse, just in real life when certain things should be said and done to make things right and better in this world.
I certainly would have mentioned (strongly) all of those things.
Omg LIzzie cracks me up....she's hilarious.
Vera and the dog.....I like the soft side of her, and Fiona Spence played that part so well. She seems like a lovely person in real life too.
Awww Vera kept the dog!
"Thats how me cat dropped dead" LMAO
The script writers loved the phrase "You Bah-sterd!!." I'd like to know how many times it's said in total throughout the entire series. I'd be willing to bet Chrissy Latham says it the most... with Bea running a close second.
What a gorgeous little doggy!
3032l She sure is a gorgeous dog. Her name was Strudel and belonged to Vera/Fiona in real life. She had two of them at the time
anyone notice the page of the book turning by itself around the 14:46 mark
I was watching a really old Corrie episode about a year ago and saw a book fly out of a bookshelf in the Kabin!
It's just falling back into place.
Spooky
im sure that wasnt meant to happen but im sure they wouldnt he bothered re-shooting the scene if they had noticed it
Its so obvious the dog isn't making the whimpering LOL I wonder if the voice over for the dog is ever mentioned :D
That bandage around Judy’s head is ridiculous.
When the scuffle happened during the class I kept waiting for someone to yell, "And this is why we can't have nice things!" :p
Heather Snodgrass As once said by Marie Barone (Doris Roberts) to her sons, Robert and Raymond, in Everybody Loves Raymond. 😄😃
Geoff should've buttered her up a bit more, Meg was just about to go soft on him there outside the prison. He is after all a crim, Meg loves crims. :)
Why doesn't Ronda tell Jim to get out??? Its against regulations for him to be at the half way house, he's there in almost every half way house scene.
I don't get how he's getting away with it because Meg wasn't even allowed to see mum and she wasn't on remand, she was out.
@@karennicholls8532 Rondas a department kiss arse, Karen would have told him to sod off
Mum was a convicted criminal even when she was out she was still convicted where Caroline is yet to be convicted maybe that's the difference as it's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty 🤦😻
Looks like Fletch the Letch is making too many enemies in one day...
HA! Lizzie knows the lyrics to the "Friendly Giant" song!!! :D
"Used your hard earned cash.." Leila dear.. Even you're aware that he 'earned' that cash by doing the jiggy jiggy with Blossom. lol
yeah but Fletch ALWAYS denys it LOL
I see that the dog belonged to Fiona. I love King Charles spaniels, they're gorgeous little things.
I agree. He gave Leila a pound of s$%t when she saw another man during their separation. Now they're back together, and he has an affair! As I recall, he hounded Leila about giving their marriage another chance, and look what he does.
Pet therapy is EXACTLY what those women need. Some US prisons allow dogs and cats - it cuts down markedly on the violence! There are even programs for female inmates to train therapy dogs. It does wonders with women who have been abused or neglected as kids.
That's the one, looks so different, and Alf and Celia acting such different characters than the ones in H&A
The dog is adorable
Typically self-centred of Sharon to walk in on Judy and start ranting without noticing that she's not well. That drama group scene was funny tho. Reminds me of a classic scene in The Sopranos where they had an intervention for Chrissie's drug problem and it ended in a fight. They try to do something properly and it just ends in fisticuffs. Some ppl just can't help themselves lol.
Mouses first line ever at 37:11! I think
+Ross Lamb How did she get the nickname, "Mouse"?
+SoapsNthings The character's name is Heather Trap hence the name Mouse.
She kinda looks like a mouse too lol.
Ross Lamb The lady who played Mouse was one of Sheila Florance's (Lizzie's) lifelong dear friends in real life. She even looked after Sheila when she was sick and then dying. Same goes for Fiona Spence who played Vera. Both Vera and her life partner Denise Morgan who was the best writer on this show.
It doesn't surprise me that the other actresses cared about Sheila. She's very personable and likeable. It really comes out in her acting.
Got a nasty feeling old Geoff is going to get away with it......and then come looking for payback.
He dose he kills Fletcher family
Beautiful dog ❤
i remember the vhs cover of prisoner with a picture of vera and the dog it was so cute
Yes Geoff Butler is back! my absolute favourite character ever on Prisoner
Geoff Butler was superb. Proper nutcase.
@@Nixter1974007 Nobody, but nobody gives me the boot!
Geoff's back to give Fletch a little present he thinks
"I like it when Door says "I thought we could smuggle her out to the bin in this!"
@ 42:20 - How is Bea going to blame Sharon when Doreen is the one that started the fight? Ugh.
George Barrett You're absolutely right. 😃
Despite what a sociopath Sharon is, Lizzie and Doreen provoked the whole damn thing.
Bea is such a dick like her friends are, who are all sociopathic as well.
I miss seeing Karen and the Doc!
I know what you mean. Slowly the show changes and you end up missing some of the old guard so to speak of your favourite eras of the show. Other characters that are not here like Lynn, Mum, Franky, Marilyn and Eddie for example, were part of the original cast and of the beginning and it's odd not seeing them around Wentworth.
I agree with you
Karen is probably expecting their first child. IMO.
and monnie
Not me
Doreen is back in her franky mode again her face after she attacks Sharon like franky used to look
Lizzie to Vera - Dog? What dog? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I've watched all pcbh it's good.i would describe it as "Australian WWE". Lol
Wentworth Wrestling Entertainment.
Prisoner isn't prisoner without lizzie saying bloody mongrel
That's the shiniest football ever...
Jeff played Alf Stewart in Home and Away, in later episodes, Elsa is in here too. Ken played Lou Carpenter who married Madge who pkayed Mum's mum in the earlier episodes
Alf's wife - Ailsa - has already been in Prisoner. Lou (Ken) and Madge were in Neighbours and she in earlier Prisoner played Mum's daughter and Judith Anne's mum.
The first proper appearance from one of my favourite characters Mouse, even though she has been seen in nearly every episode as just one of the back ground prisoner's, here at last we see her singing one of those bawdy ruby songs. Mouse is real name is actually Heather Trap so on account of this the woman of Wentworth nick-named her Mouse as of course in 'Mouse-Trap'. She was played by Jentah Sobott but on the end credits here she was billed as 'Jentah Sneddon'.
Stop already. We all know. It's like you think none of us has seen a show that started 40 years ago. Would you like me to tell you about a couple of shows called "Seinfeld" and "Friends"?
@@karennicholls8532 Nothing wrong with Dean's comment. I've never watched Seinfeld or Friends incidentally.
It's so weird seeing the very youthful actor Ray Meagher here playing evil Geoff Butler with a full head of hair when these days in H&A were so used to seeing him as Alf Stewart who's bald.
That's not my idea of a full head of hair.
Funny thing is, all of the characters he played in Prisoner were real bastards. When he first started in H & A he was kind of unpleasant as well, then turned into "good old Alf Stewart"
@@karennicholls8532stone the flamin crows
Can't hack Bea mooning over the drama guy.
Lizzie, Bea and Vera the best characters in the series. It's not the same without them.
Vera follows Lizzie to the hair of the dog.😂
Mouse Trapp finally squeaks - err, I mean, speaks! She's credited here as Jentah Snedden, obviously her maiden name - but the character is "Mighty Mouse"! Always thought it was just Mouse...
I have to say it's essential they don't cancel any acting classes for Prisoner.
I'm utterly shocked that the barrister suggested that Meg enjoyed being with a violent man who knocked her about!!! Goes to show how that sort of carry on was acceptable by the majority of society back then. Thank christ we've evolved.
He should have been punished by having someone twice his size and strength beat the crap out of HIM.
Prisoner Cell Block the Musical! Huh? I've watched it on-line. It was a laugh a minute!
Ray Meaghers character is brilliant.
Carolyn likes the men with the mustache.
Shelia, Harold, Madge,Paul and Lou so far from neighbours and Alf, Morag and Celia from H and A lol
We've also seen the man who was Madge's dad, Dan Ramsey, in Neighbours. Syd Connabere was a magistrate in an early episode. Wasn't Dor in Neighbours too? I only watched it during the really early days of Max, Maria, Shane and Danny Ramsey.
Judy can get rid of that bandage anytime.
Vera will throw the dog in the pound.😂
😅
When Lizzie hides prudence in the trolley 🥰
Don't think the discipline has anything to do with it in the case of Lizzie! She is so institutionalised that she cannot cope outside! Meg was right in her comment about the lack of rehab. It's similar when the Care in the Community was introduced in the UK and many of the psychiatric institutions were closed down, many patients couldn't cope living in the community!
They did that here (Aust.) as well with the psychiatric hospitals. Pretty much, these people were kicked out onto the street with a Disability Pension and bugger all else.
until know, i wondered why an Australian character like Judy Bryant had an American accent (yes, i knew that the actress was American herself). but now i know her back story, and that Judy was actually an American who emigrated to Australia.
I was actually thinking, why does that American have an Australian accent!
The dogs real owner is in fact Fiona aka vinegar
41:57
What did the dark haired bird do??? 😂 it was doreen
🤔💭I think in real life….the dog 🐶 is actually belongs to the actress Fiona who plays vera. 🤔 I remember seeing an interview and she mentioned it was her pet dog in real life.
As i've mentioned previously actor Ray Meagher appeared three times in PCBH playing three different very nasty type characters. First as Geoff Butler and then later as Kurt Rennar and lastly as the evil and sadistic governor of notorious Blackmoor prison, Ernest Craven. However Ray is best known to Home and Away fans as Alf Stewart a role he as played for over 30 years on screen.
Omg Vera 😂😂 5:34 so savage lol
''Dog? What dog?'' 😂
27th December 2024.
Mr butler??.? Mr craven??? Or Alf?
Or even Kurt Renner
Caroline's estranged husband is pathetic! Cannot believe how he is interfering and practically stalking Jim. Caroline hates him and he needs to get over the fact that the marriage is over! He needs a good bashing!
doesn't anyone there know how to hold a dog properly haha
I own a Husky and a mastiff. I don't have to worry about holding them😮.
@ 11:53 Judy tells Doreen about her past back in the states. Anyone recognize her story? It's the storyline from the 1961 classic "The Children's Hour" staring Audrey Hepburn, Shirley MacLean & James Garner.
After the rumor of 2 teachers from a local boarding school were having a lesbian affair destroys their lives, their dreams & their school, it is found out to be a horrible lie told by a spoiled privileged rich brat of a girl. But, the damage is done, and with no chance of ever living down such a scandal, one of the teachers hangs herself out of despair.
It is definitely a movie worth watching. And, it was obvious that one of the writers for "Prisoner" had watched it themselves.
106 episodes into my 33rd run of the series.
3:00. I thought Judy is a none-smoker in this show
She was as far as I remember.
There have been many scenes with her smoking
My first priority after having Creepy Geoff walk in on me would be to lock the front door once he finally left. Fletch is such an ass ...
"we're not running a pet shop!" - Vera's doggie equivalent for "this is a prison, not a holiday camp!" 😂
Michael Simpson is such an odious toerag...
Who doesn't keep their door closed in this day and age?
Oh I getcha, Harold Bishop wasn't it?
Geoff's got the voice of a robot, hahahaha
Lmao 😂😂😂😂
You thinking of Alf Stewart from Home and Away?
😅Birdsworth won't be singing when the Freak takes, Vera's place. Vera's much more kind hearted.😅
Does anyone in this country take responsibility for there on bullshit. Everytime someone does something, that don't go there way, they blame everyone else. Sad sad sad.
I do understand that
It's a TV show, however much of the characters' behaviors are true to life.
Good on ya, Vera =)
isn't that Lou from neighbours??? half of this mob ended up in Ramsay St or summer bay!!!
jess Ava yes, was the same production company
Helen Daniels and bishop notably
Ramsay Street matriarch Madge pops up a few times in Prisoner
Judy says she didn't know if any of her family were alive and then she says she watched her Mum die. The mind boggles.
She watched her mum die, but doesn't know if the rest of her family's still alive.
At this precise moment she still has her father and a sister. As for any other future developments about her life, I would say to keep watching all the way through Judy's run in the series. 😊😃
Judy doesn’t even remember if she’s a virgin or not later on in the series!
@@Redsleather Most of the characters don't even know what century it is let alone what planet they're on.
Although, she's deliberately undermined/sabotaged people's attempts to make it on the outside (or to even get out in the first place). That doesn't mean, though, that part of her doesn't care. People can be complicated.
I will see myself out.....that line is often used on this show
The dog reminds me of Bea Smith..the looks lol
yet another red head lol
fletch was in there till greg butler turned up
Geoff should've stuck to the "insurance business" then he might have still had that 6 Series instead of an old banger.
