the last part is missing where Benigni says "io guardo attraverso la finestra" which actually means "I look THROUGH" the window". The scene doesn't have any deeper mening without this missing part.

It retains this deeper meaning, but only for those who don't need to have it spelled out for them. Benigni's character sees through the window before he even creates it. He's the only one with the vision to find a way out. On some level, the question isn't just asking for the proper grammatical construction, but what their choice is. They choose to look at the window rather than through it because those are the rules, and just like the law that has framed them, they're imprisoned even by grammatical laws as well.
The deeper levels that this movie operates on are manifold and every time I watch it, I find myself marveling at Jim's genius. I also quite frequently post a link to this video whenever someone broaches the subject of the divinity of Christ who presents himself as "the way" or "the doorway". Those who see him as God look "at" him rather than looking "through" him.
It seems counterintuitive in that if one looks at the window, they see only a window whereas those who look through the window see what is beyond the window. The problem is that people look through the window and then they conflate what is beyond with the window itself which forces them to look only at the window while attributing what they've seen beyond the window with the window itself.
Benigni's character is like the philosopher in Plato's Republic who is able to see beyond the cave his fellow cell mates have resigned their life to. Note also how the cabin they stumble upon in the swamp is immediately recognizable as the prison cell they just fled from. Even though they may be long gone from their prison cell, they still can't escape that framework or form.

@@asdic888 Years ago, I was a private driver, and while waiting in a strip mall writing a paper, a young and quite well-dressed man approached my car to inform me that there had been reports of someone having too much fun. He then asked me, "How do you plead?" I replied, "Guilty". I was analyzing a poem and since my fare was going to be a few hours, I smoked a doobie to spice things up a bit.
He then launched into the role of law enforcement officer while pretending to scribble a citation, and handed me a bumper sticker of Snoopy and Woodstock dancing with the caption: "Are we having fun yet?" We talked for almost an hour before he handed me a brand-new hardbound copy of the Bhagavad Gita. One of the other things he said was, "We get high for life." He was a Hare Krishna, and I discovered that chanting mantras is IDENTICAL to doing drugs. The desired effects are the same without the deleterious effects, e.g. listlessness, boredom, brain damage, forgetfulness, etc. etc.
Drugs enchant the mind, but so does chanting(it's no coincidence that these words come from the same root), or focusing one's mind on something like your own breathing. It seems counterintuitive, especially to those who have attempted to focus on their breathing for half an hour at a time. It's tedious, but after a while, the boredom disappears along with a lot of negativity.
In no time people will come out of nowhere with dialogue and one's life becomes the plot for a book or movie. There are video interviews with David Lynch on RUclips who effectively makes the exact same claims.

It looked like that he was trying to make a window so that he could escape.
