Happy to see ya'll made it back to Louisiana! We experienced a 7 hr tow from the platform Mars due to fuel issues once. Makes for a long disappointing trip but that comes with offshore fishing. Loved the video! Going to be slow pitch jigging Saturday for red snapper and Ajs.
I fish offshore in the northeast of the coast of ocean city, it’s a relief to have a garmin in reach to be able to text your family and call the coast guard if need be, we repowered a few years ago but before then we had our fair share of tow ins on our Grady
I keep spare oil filter, thermostat, starter motor, fuel filter,tools...some oil...etc in boat. Also have cat sometimes salt spray will corrode filters. Used Suzuki starters are pretty cheap. I have dual Suzukis, but orefer to have em both running!
I know you guys got a business to run,but I totally love it when you make us a video, always so productive and fun to watch. Just wish I was able to get out there myself, someday I hope. Hurricane Ian put a real hurting on us . As the JAMAICANS say, soon come man, soon come.
thank you guys, really appreciate all the tips and the jigs u make. All the info from you and benny ortiz has really been effective here in california. New regulations only allow deeper fishing later this season, which in past years was illegal to fish so really excited to take spj to deep cali waters.
You can hear the hull slap on that aluminum hull @10:00 . It's loud! I have no idea why people insist building saltwater aluminum hull boats for saltwater.
@@jerrymenard5654 Dude, it's freaking loud and annoying and you know it. In shallower water, it does spook the fish. Corrosion and electrolysis issues as well. give it a few years and you'll start to cuss at it. Good luck with it. I'll never own another aluminum boat and learned my lessons decades ago.. Fiberglass is where it's at, brah.
They wanted you to leave the boat because they knew it was a long tow back and didn't want to be out that long. They don't care about your boat. Good thing you said no and if they left you and something happened to you they'd have some issues on their hands. Good they towed you that what tax dollars are for the gov to provide for the citizens
Nice… We have a camp down the road from that landing. We fish out of the Mermentau. Was 115 mile out last weekend chasing AJ’s. Slowing getting into the slow pitch game, will be ordering gigs from the website soon. @jerrymenard5654 where’s your store, we like to support local.
Awesome trip. That boat is looking good. Can't wait to see one in person.
What a scare that must have been. Definitely an epic video guys!! Jig On!!
Chris Doyle IS the fish whisperer!
No doubt
Greetings boyz....just ordered up a dozen for my trip in April with Kurt Tillman. Will be stopping in when I land in Pompano for some advise.
Thank you sir. Looking forward to your visit 😀
OEM filters. Always. Looked like an epic day of fishing.
You guys are definitely living the dream of every fisherman.Jig on.
Welcome to Louisiana!! Glad you made it out after the mishap. Don't tell anyone we have fish here. It is a secret.
Wow!! What a journey, the triumph of the Northern Gulf 💪💪 great work on the editing with this one ‼️
I want to go again!
Yellowfin? October?
Say when!

Great video boys. Been loving the 220g one drop for tiles lately!
Thanks John

Epic video guys! I really need to invest in a sat phone now lol 60 miles offshore boy that scares me lol
Jake, I learned a lot from this experience. I will not go offshore ever again without a Sat phone.
For real. Great video !
Moma Beth & Trip #1 fans. ❤️
Great job guys thxs 4 sharing
wow nice video 💝💖💗
Thank you
Way to go guys
Thanks Dan
What is the max size leader you guys use while SPJ when fishing shallower water like this video, for gags and other big grouper?
The max leader we use in shallow water is 50#. In shallow water, we will scale down to 30 if the bite is slow or the fish seam leader shy.
So one motor isn;t enough to push the boat? I always thought that was the idea of having 2 if one fails you still have one?
Was wondering the same thing!
That first fish is a yellowmouth grouper not a scamp. prob the coolest bottom fish you can catch on jig
I questioned that when he came up. I've only seen a yellowmouth once before many years ago. Thanks for confirming. 👍 It's a rare fish on my coast.
@@JohnnyJigsTV don’t think I’ve seen one caught on jig. More rare than kitty or a marbled in the gulf or Atlantic

Do you know what sat phone he had?
Zoleo
Looked like a car-quest logo on that filter… I won’t even use that garbage on my car, let alone my boat!
Capt said never again.
@@JohnnyJigsTV I used some of their parts on my work trucks, they’re terrible!
Lose one, rig one!

You’re 1000% correct! Found that out
Why didn’t y’all run back on one motor? Most boats can still get on plane with one motor.
My 30 footer with twin 300s won’t plane on one, that boat was even longer.
@11min mark, that's just speed jigging now. How is that considered slow pitch?

In Rayne up the road.
What boat are you guys fishing out of?
@@jerrymenard5654 it’s a 27’ Ameracat. No name on the boat but it goes by MP II. Camp is right next to the park in Grand Chenier.
should always have spare parts and tools lol pretty stupid you guys did not.
