Whole video was amazing, but the end was definitely the best. As the son of south Vietnamese refugees it touched me in a way I didn't expect from a DCS cinematic lol.
I personally knew someone who worked on the HMAS Perth, a missile destroyer that served in Vietnam. His name was Clive and served two tours on the HMAS Perth. Sadly he died in 2016 from old age.
Wow, you nailed it, the best Vietnam era cinematic in DCS ever, the Coppola would have proud on you :) i am serious, I watched it 3 times in a row, how did you even took those soldier shot in huey ! Amazing job
Man this is so well edited and extremely creative. Amazing. Especially towards the end some of those night shots and slow-mo CBUs blowing up. I'd love to see more.
Well done! I especially liked your transition using LBJ's speech and the use of ground as well as air for a complete roll! I hope the TWS guys get you to do a video for them when its ready.
3:40 - the planes and terrain are superb - as is usual in flight sims, the human depictions are Uncanny Valley creepy as hell! look at those department store mannequins firing the artillery! LOL love it
Simply fantastic cinematic, although it must have been a horrific experience for all involved irl. Merry Christmas to you all, I'm off to get some Vietnam era mods ☺️
Best Vietnam War Cinematic video music and video go well together . I come to see this several times a day awesome watching this makes me want to play the DCS.
This is amazing! I love Paranoid and Have You Ever Seen The Rain. Also, you have probably the best mix for "montage" and "story" I've seen on this platform! I can't believe you turn a dogfighting game into like... An RPG of sorts. Awesome!
Wow. Just wow. Brought chills. This is by far the best DCS cinematic I have ever seen-looks like this was truly a labour of love. Keep up the excellent work my friend.
My dad fought at Khe Sahn. He recently passed. Even though that war screwed him up, I think he would have liked this video. We talked a lot about video games. I always hoped someone would develop an open world, sandbox video game centered on the Vietnam conflict. Excellent video.
Awesome video, Amigo.my oldest brother was a Vietnam Navy vet, I love Sabbath, but i can tell you, most of those boys were listening to Blues, Johnny Cash, or Merle Haggard...or Sinatra. Keep it up! just getting started in DCS myself. Plan to run my own server, when I learn a few planes. Bought a crazy gaming PC, waiting on my HOTAS to arrive. See you in the sky!
Excellent work, emotive and absorbing. A refreshing change from listening to Vietnam era music played with the usual old film clips. There's nothing wrong with those old stock images, but they are re-used an awful lot.
I grew up in the early '80s, those slow motion bomb drops and missiles coming off the pylon grab me right by the deep memories. Seeing Sparrows come off the rail, or retarded (really, that's what they're called) bombs being dropped in a line on a village in slow mo is like watching the Knowledge Network all over again. Saturdays on channel 4, right after Looney Toons ended. Welcome to Canada, we put the war on television and gave you college credits for it! Hell, I still own the textbook. I was too young to apply for the credits at the time. Dad was "in country" for some of it, though... Nothing weirder than watching TV and having your father say "and I was one of the techs in those trucks..." And then the napalm drop. It's like you wanted to hit all the high points :P
That was excellent! Seeing that F100 pulling a little Iron Hand duty right through the AAA was pretty sweet! About the only thing I didn't see that I was hoping I would was some F-105 Thunder Chiefs. But those will probably never make it into DCS even as a mod. Again masterful work!
Wow. That was exciting from start to finish! Very well done to you once again we’re treated to this work of art you master and fire straight at us. The colours, the music, the editing all showcasing the content in one little daydream moment that has to be seen to be believed. You’re hard work has paid off.
Realy great. Fantastic editing and displaying the horrors of that place. Combine that with a sauce of great music and a receipt for a great clip is born.
The Vietnam War by far had the best fucking soundtrack. Being a kid in the 80s watching something like this was what made me want to go to War thinking it was cool and couldn't wait till I got old enough. Now as an fart with some combat experience, some time in jungles (traveling), and meeting real Nam vets, I would love to go back in time and smack myself upside the head to explain that these clips are WAY different than being on the ground living that actual thing...😬... by the way that CCR song would have been better with helos going back to base or a medivac. Like an after battle song. Of course "Fortunate Son" would have been perfect "Run Through The Jungle". Great job though 👍
Such fantastic music, I think Jefferson Airplane is underused nowadays. I don't know how to make videos on earlier wars because the music is so bad. Iraq and Afghanistan also have good soundtracks, and an enormous amount of music to choose from. Cheers 👍
Loved the cinematics and camera angles. I also felt the old film grain filter applied to the footage was very cool. My only critique is the audio lacks punch. It's mainly a music bed and sound effects from the aircraft and weapons. Would've been greatly enhanced if there were rips from real-life radio communications, the ambience of the beach when the APCs are landing, insects, etc. I think that would have been the finishing touch to make the video unforgettable. Great job!
The AA guns outside hunting the Iranian drones launched at us by the russians give this masterpiece a whole new dimension of immersion. Kudos to the creator. Liked and subscribed.
Very good video, loaded with meaning and history; long and very well paced. It sums up Vietnam very well. The realization is perfectly mastered, both in the quality of the images and in the choice of the soundtrack! Cheer
One tiny constructive criticism is around 06:51 the napalm bombs are falling straight down rather than tumbling in the unique way that they do. Fortunate Son is fantastic but overused. Jefferson Airplane and Black Sabbath are excellent choices 👍 As others have said, I recognized a lot of real footage that you've recreated which is awesome. Great job 😀
In case you drop it, if you wait a bit after dropping it, the napalm will have that unique rolling motion. This was probably adapted directly from the motion of the augmentation tanks of other aircraft.
No Republic F-105D, F or G Thunderchief!?? 😔😔😔 That awesome aircraft flew more missions and suffered more losses than any other aircraft during the Vietnam war.
