Thanks girls, for reacting to this amazing performance❤ - especially when you take into account the complete in-ear technical failure he suffered, from the very start and throughout! But I think you may have misread his facial expressions near the end, the tears in his eyes - he wasn't being/acting miserable, he was just trying not to cry, so overwhelmed with emotion that a lifelong dream of his was coming true! (something he alluded to after this clip ends)! Dimash is about as patriotic as any man can be, and is immensely proud of his culture (in fact he was made a Cultural Ambassador) - so I can only imagine how this must have felt for him, to first join in playing the dombra - Kazakhstan's national instrument - alongside so many of his countrymen, before performing this beautiful Kazakh folk song in front of such a huge and widely international audience, accompanied by those fantastic musicians on the stage that were actually from his university back home, and wearing that gorgeously intricate, custom-sewn shapan (traditional robe) that understandably earned him the nickname of 'Prince' Dimash... all in all, a truly amazing spectacle that I can only feel privileged to have been able to behold - just, wow, wow, WOW!🤗💕

At the Singer 2017, Dimash fulfilled a dream , present to the world Kazakh culture and music. At Bastau concert e fulfilled another dream, hearing the world singing a kazakh song and his tears and sweat were there. A great and emotional moment. Adai played by 100 dombras was just wow. Daididau still is my top 2 song. Great reaction💞💞
Dimash is very passionate, and he gets very excited, when it comes to singing in his ideoma, with his traditions, and his music. I think it was also the end of his presentation, and he must have been exhausted, not to mention, that suit must be heavy.
This was his dream, to do this concert. He was proud and emotional to the point of tears. I saw a backstage video when he finally exited the stage and his father fell into his arms sobbing. Made me cry too.
The writer of the song is a famous poet who was imprisoned in the 1930s as part of Stalin's purges and show trials. While in prison he was informed that his wife had left him for another man. This was not true and he did eventually briefly reunite with his wife before being killed by the Soviets. The Khazakhs suffered terribly during the 30s and 40s with a large percentage of the population starved or outright killed by the communists.

Golden Horde ( Kazakh ancestors) several centuries collected impost from russian peoples and combined all russian peoples as state. Kazakh had own alphabet, turk(ruins) than arabic, latin alphabet. With kirillica alphabet destroyed writing by Russian alphabet.

If you get chance to watch his full concerts you definitely should it gives you such a different aspect of how much of a performer he is and how important his audience is to him consistently. At the end of his concerts he's gone into the crowd and the security are chasing after him while he's just carefree jumping about in the barriers or in Moscow literally getting into the crowd itself ha. I've watched his concerts through so many times and notice something different each time. Definitely worth seeing them even if you're going in Dec. Each concert has something different to offer.

It was his first huge concert in his homeland and I think during this song it really hit home that his childhood dream became reality that he is living it when the huge crowd was singing with him. He was fighting with tears by end.

He did so well to sing on pitch even though he couldn't hear himself, you can tell by the signs he is making to the sound people, it is a general sign we do, he comes late and a bit off a couple of times because he can't hear himself so overall it was so great, I prefer this version with subs than watching Gloria Wu's video she adds so much unnecessary stuff and takes off the instruments to put some kids running ...
That's his solo concert called "Bastau" means 'the beginning' in capital of Kazakhstan in 2017. Dimash YT channel had the whole concert video but now removed ( but 'Dimash lnfostation' channel has uploaded this concert in 7 parts with subtitles, must watch them). He performed like 28 - 30 songs and the concert was more than two and half hrs long. I am happy for you, as you're going to experience the energy of his concert. I can't go to his concerts as l live in lndia but l have watched almost every concert uploaded on RUclips ( official and fancams). Enjoy😀😀😀😀.

(The same instrument he gave to Jackie Chan in the other behind the scenes footage I gave links to.) This was suggested in the comments to "Daybreak", but I guess you could go back and watch the intro to her version now, to explain the emotional response of Kazakhs to this song.
