I was telling my wife about this guy I used to watch do SE: Survival videos and modding, and that I was worried he was gone forever, and yet... HERE YOU ARE!
I'm with the rest of the commenters here. I think we're as happy to see you back around as we are to hear about Space Engineers 2! For the block selection, I quite like how they do it in Satisfactory. Hold E and it brings up a wheel of options, or just tap it and it'll cycle through.
Nice to see you back. Regarding block limits, hopefully once a ship is 'made' the system will be cleaver enough to convert areas of the same block into a single large block rather than lots of little blocks. So a 10x10 block will become a single block measuring 10x10 rather than 100 individual blocks.
I think you're forgetting that pretty much every single feature shown off for SE2 so far has been a change request by the community for SE that never made it to SE. Inclusion of the paint gun mod as a vanilla feature is one of those requests. It's a small thing that brings a huge quality of life change for people who really like to pay attention to the details of their builds.
Welcome back. Years ago my wife complained that I'm watching this game that I don't even have so I brought a physical copy and put it on the shelf and continued to watch your videos. Can't wait to see what you build
@@smoley3310 probably not? dual universe was a paid mmo which is not exactly a recipe for success not to mention that if i remember right there was quite a bit of controversy about the development
God, I’ve been following you for years thank you so much for posting. Are you modifications and everything you’ve ever built. You’re the reason I got into the game.
With the creepy SAGE laugh, he arises from the ashes in his grave...only to start dancing and singing The Welding Song. "Weldy weld, weldy weld, ooooo weeeeeldy weldy weldy WELDY WELD!"
Wow, that's a blast from the past. I've been watching from quite early on, before the Sage thruster. Glad you're still around. I have many of the same gripes with SE as you do, so I'll be curious what your thoughts are on it once it's released before I dare to even dip my toe into the second one. I feel like SE wasted a lot of my time with technical issues sadly. It was tolerable in early access because there was always the promise of it getting better, and in some ways it did, but in too many ways it didn't. I'm hoping this is a big step forward, but as you said, seeing the block limits... doesn't inspire me with confidence. Another game called Starship Evo (used to have a better name, but there was some conflict), looks very promising. Much superior performance, better block system, jank free mechanisms etc, but I'd still love a solidly functional Space Engineers game.
You and LSG's Joint Survival series is what got me into Space Engineers, and here I am l, 1200 hours later... so welcome back Sage! At least to RUclips, while the ad situation likely hasn't gotten better, it is so good to hear your voice again!
The rock testures look better and that's about it for the "2", in terms of visual upgrades (that I can see). It looks like they focused on the voxel and voxel deforming engine, as well as adding some noce QoL improvements. Some people may not like it, but this is *_peak_* sequel form. However, now I'll have to upgrade my 1660S, because even with the 6GB of VRAM, I know my rig won't be able to handle this. I'm sure there will be some optimization over the first, but I don't see it being enough to keep my CPU from picking up slack and pushing 70° C.
Glad to see you're still around. I heard a different suggestion that I think I would prefer somewhat more to building in broken sections of blocks - namely, repairs placing the build state only in the broken section. Would make for some excellent visuals, and I think the meta-optimization of builds if we could break and build into functional components would get kinda unfun. That said, they do seem to remain somewhat functional, as in the solar panel example the free-floating sections have red indicator lights, but the still-attached broken section retains green ones, showing that it is still working. I think the DLCs from SE will transfer into the new game, or just be in the base game. Keen have apparently mentioned that you can transfer blueprints from SE into SE2, which implies that all blocks from SE will be in SE2 as well (and makes the resized refinery-looking thing shown in the trailers interesting. If they change hitboxes of some blocks like that, it might mean there's essentilly going to be a second old version for those blueprints), for all the good and bad that might bring. I'm completely sure they will leave the game accessible to modders, but I doubt mods fro SE will work on SE2 given it runs on a different version of the engine and all that. While this is an announcement, the game is likely far from ready, particularly seeing as I think they mentioned it's going to be early access like SE was way back in the day. Planets, and that ambitious liquid physics demonstration, are probably not in a state to fully show off in a trailer and not a tech demo type thing t all, but will probably be later. I hope you're right about cables, that's always been something I wanted. Even if it wasn't full physics ropes like Medival Engineers, but just something cosmetic, that would still be excellent for building. The radial menu replacement for the scroll thing would be an improvement for controller, which only lets you cycle through everything one way. Layers of radial menus would be less obtuse than the barely-shown way it currently is there, since a radial menu is basically the joystick equivalent of a hotbar with number hotkeys. Different control systems simply require vastly different approaches. My biggest pipe dream of an addition for this game is the introduction of control across subgrids and vanilla script-less mapping of rotors, pistons and hinges to movement keys. Custom suspension, rotating thrusters, possibly custom control surfaces if they do that hydrodynamic physics thing they mentioned once, it would be wonderful.
Ayo, Bro. You're back. . It's been 2 years man. glad to see you're still here. Loved the space engineer videos. still love them. Glad to see you back, spaceman. *salutes*
I'm so excited to see you're back! I've been watching your videos since when space engineers was still brand new. I had such great memories of watching your videos when i would first get home from school with a bowl of my favorite ramen :) its been so long since then I'm an adult who's always so busy with life that its hard to find the time for space engineers anymore but i still finding myself coming back to a game that really captured my imagination and the content creators who made the community so awesome!
In regards to the Performance, there's definitely going to be some better performance from VRage3 as VR3 is Multithreaded while SE1s VRage2 is not MultiThreaded.
HE'S BACK! How've you been, Sage? It's good to see you back on my subscriptions! Not sure I personally have the time to commit to a new SE game, but I'm excited to see what people make of this! I loved your designs in SE1, so I'd love to see your new creations when SE2 comes out!
I’m hoping they make the Engineer customization more modular, so instead of swapping out the entire model or just applying different textures to each piece, said pieces would have different models to plug and play.
well, slap a toast in my face and call me breakfast ... 2 Jears, and im absolutely not mad, infact im ecstatic and happy to know you are doing well, and even more excited to watch another video from you. hope life has been treating you well, how has Lad been? Its good to see you back, Sage *hugs*

Sage channel? That's a name I haven't heard in.... **checks notes** two years! Good to see you!

Obligatory "He found his YT password!" comment.

YESSSS! This is the comeback we've all been waiting for and just in time! Amazing to see your name in the feed again mate ❤

Been a while Sage! I used to love watching your videos back in the day, so happy to hear your voice and intro again!
HOLLY FUCKING SHIT! Its SAGE!!!!!! damn i missed you hope you've been well nice seeing you in the SE world again.
He lives🎉🎉🎉🎉
Also SE 2 is reminding me alot of that failed space builder dual universe?

Holy shit! Talk about a blast from the past! You, XPGAMER, and Tazoo. Were awesome together. The Mighty Weasel needs a face lift with all the new dlc.
Lol Last Stand Gamer. Aka LSG Captain shack's group and Sage's group did have a crossover if I remember correctly.
SAGE IS BACK?!?!!!!!! OMG OMG! :D :D :D I've been here since the first SE days 😃 Glad to see your back!

Excellent to see a recommendation for you (and the new game of course). A blast from the past. Still as entertaining and informative as ever. 👍
welcome back sage. missed you buddy

Welcome back Sage! Hope this means we can look forward to more content from your channel!
I was not expecting to hear EctoSage after SE added dlc's and Sage basically leaving at that point
Welcome back!
Sage! The voice of my 3:00 AM, insomnia fueled RUclips series watching returns.
I was just looking for videos from you like Monday! Missed your survival series!
Welcome back and hope life has been good to you.

To quote myself when I was about to watch the trailer..
SPACE ENGINEERS TWO!!! HOLY FU**!!!!
One of the O.Gs is back! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Oh, hello Sage is back!

SAGE SAGE SAGE SAGE!!!!
oh i do hope this means you're back! you rock
12:00 11 years later and your suggestion might be added! I want a big rubber band!
Glad to have you back (assuming you dont disappear again) ❤
I’m hoping they make the Engineer customization more modular, so instead of swapping out the entire model or just applying different textures to each piece, said pieces would have different models to plug and play.
From history, I assume people who own some/all of the DLC will get some cosmetic bonus in the new game, like how Medieval Engineers owners get a suit.
Welcome back Sage!
After 2 looooong YEARS, Sage uploads a new vid. Welcome back. Hope this isn't a one off.
And about 5 since he posted SE videos!
Sage Lives!
*stomp stomp*
Good it see from you again!
well, slap a toast in my face and call me breakfast ...

Woah, that was quite the hibernation you took.
SAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good to see you again
look who's come out of hibernation !
good to see you back :)
Wooooo! Sage posted!! 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome back!
Not gonna lie, I thought you died. Glad to see you are back.
Maybe if scroll wheel on an item showed a preview of the other block types, perhaps it might be more bearable?
OMG the OG is back
Damn… bugging you on tweeter worked ;p welcome back!
Oh my god. He posted.
Ok, so they didn't make a multi block size system, they just made the basic block smaller, and let you plant more of them at once.
welcome back king
Was worried about you bud!
I remember you. I used to watch your videos many years ago.
THE RETURN OF THE KING
Dawg its been like 7 years lol, youtube blessed me
Wow, holy hotdogs, I thought you were gone forever.
Sleep, art, game and eat!
Sage!
HE LIIIIIIIIIVES
SAGE??? we are so backkkkk
The reason I stopped playing Dual Universe was the resolution of their building system. I have terrible choice paralysis
HOLY… HE’S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sage!!!!
Heyo you back? Or just popping your head in for a bit
omg you're alive
Hey Sage! It's been ages since I saw you last
Immediately thinks of exploits...good ol' SAGE is definately back.
I'm very worried they will release a bare bones game to add DLCs to later. I would be super disappointed with that.
