As a Giants fan, watching Todd play was always such a joy. The guy was the definition of what a model of consistency looks like at the plate. So glad to see the writers finally give him the respect he deserves!
THANK YOU! I tell people this all the time. Helton wasn't really a power hitter, so he didn't always have a lot of homers. He was a contact hitter and he got on base, and that's just as scary as a power hitter. Also, he was probably the best 2-strike hitter I've ever seen in my life.
So, Tennessee Vols have now have two QBs in the Hall of Fame! Peyton Manning in Canton Todd Helton in Cooperstown (Helton was Manning’s backup QB at Tennessee before he decided to fully dedicated to baseball).
Felt bad about sweeping the Rockies in the 2007 World Series because there were rumors he was coming to Boston the offseason before. But I'll never forget what he did in 2000. I wanted to see him hit .400 as much as Nomar Garciaparra and Helton WAS hitting .400 late in August. I remember the last day of the 2000 season when he spoiled the Atlanta Braves getting home field advantage as the 2 seed. He crushed a go ahead homer off John Rocker on TBS
Im a longtime Padre fan. So, I speak from a a fan's experience, when I say Helton was just as feared in the NL West, as guys like Bonds, Kent, Walker, Bichette, Castilla and Luis Gonzalez. In my opinion, he was a much better hitter than all of those guys, minus Bonds.
I never believed the “he played in coors” get out. You still gotta hit the ball. If coors turned everyone into major league sluggers we’d all be in MLB
Would like to have been a fly on the wall when Steve Garvey heard another Harold Baines made it into the HOF before him😂. But I can laugh about it, because I’m a Giants fan. Unfortunately, I can’t argue TH is more deserving than SG. That would be pointless. But still funny.
Let's just make sure he's got a designated driver. Speaking of that, I like Todd. I saw his cup of coffee in 1997, and I was always a loyal Rockies fan (we really do exist), and he is absolutely deserving. But herein lies the childish stupidity of the writers voting on the Hall of Fame. These same idiots were perfectly willing with overlooking the Character Clause for a man who has (I think) two DUIs. Meanwhile they completely snubbed (The GREAT) Curt Schilling over political differences. This was a man who won the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year award for his community activism, and has never been involved any scandals. So the message this sends is: we are fine with you putting other people lives at risk (twice), but don't you dare vote for Bad Orange Man.
Good job Todd, but for anyone who says it took too long; Todd wasn't a legend. He only had 7 great years. For someone to be a legend; they need to have at least 14 years of being great. Hence Nolan Ryan, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, Don Sutton, Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Willie Mays, Derek Jeter, etc. Those are just very few legends. Todd Helton was only about halfway to being a legend compared to those players I listed above.
Oh cmon….dude hit over .300 in 12 of his 16 years of service. 3 gold gloves….4 silver sluggers….5x all star. If Edgar Martinez is a HOF’er, so is Helton..
My respect to a player who can go into the hall of fame wearing one uniform!!! Congrats Todd Helton
this does bring a smile to my face.

So was Steve Garvey. and at a higher level. What is your point?

Except he wasn't, Helton literally had better stats than Garvey.
My fav 1B, 2000 season MVP.
Watching this is like watching my life pass before me. From watching him at Sky Sox to following him to Denver. Todd has been a huge part of my life
Was there for his last MLB game at Dodger stadium, always knew he’d get in, well deserved
So, Tennessee Vols have now have two QBs in the Hall of Fame!
Peyton Manning in Canton
Todd Helton in Cooperstown
(Helton was Manning’s backup QB at Tennessee before he decided to fully dedicated to baseball).
Funnily it’s the other way around! Manning was Heltons backup QB!
my all time favorite player. i loved those rockies teams
Well deserved! Congratulations to Todd Helton!
Absolute legend

His whole career the traditional baseball media dismissed coors field numbers. They were wrong then and I'm so happy he got in.
Mr. Colorado Rockie, wish we could have gotten you a ring. Thanks for staying loyal to the ball club , and for tons of childhood memories ❤️.
Congratulations to The ToddFather! Well Deserved!

I don’t think you’re wrong. Bonds was a great hitter before the juice. So it’s hard to say who was the better natural hitter between the two.
finally... congratulations to Todd Helton for making into the Baseball HOF
Mr Rockie has finally done it
Congrats Todd!
Always been a Cubs fan. But I did love Todd Helton when I was a kid. Always looked forward for the Cubs and Rockies games
Congrats!!
It’s about time! Congratulations Todd Helton!
Crazy he had to wait this long while someone like Derek Jeter is in the HOF despite being a stat compiler
@@PhillyLeotardo25Do you think if Jeter played for a different team, he would have had a lower voting percentage?
I feel like every Padres game against the Rockies I went to, Helton hit a home run (33 hrs vs Padres).
I never believed the “he played in coors” get out. You still gotta hit the ball. If coors turned everyone into major league sluggers we’d all be in MLB
awesome, congrats todd :)
That was an unexpected surprise.
Todd was made for the HOF
So deserved also was robbed of an MVP.
It’s an absolute travesty he didn’t win MVP that season, his numbers were easily better than Jeff Kent’s.
Dodger fan here and all I can say is congratulations! Was always a fan even when you played against us
Amazing how he stayed with the Rockies For that long
Billy Wagner snubbed again
Fun fact he actually started quarterback ahead of Payton Manning in college but got injured and the rest is history

Happy for Helton. He should’ve gotten in years ago.
Let's just make sure he's got a designated driver.

No defensive highlights?
A DUI machine in Denver. An absolute loser off the field..
An absolute loser in the comment section..
Congrats Adrian Beltre Go TEXAS
Corn flakes
How’s Todd Helton a hall of famer? The guy only been to the postseason once !
How many times have you been
Twice
Postseason is a team stat
By that logic, you think Trout isn't a HOFer?
Todd Helton was really good, but a hall of famer?? I don’t know about that.
Oh cmon….dude hit over .300 in 12 of his 16 years of service. 3 gold gloves….4 silver sluggers….5x all star.
If Edgar Martinez is a HOF’er, so is Helton..
@@TrewlPatrol Also, the dude should 100% have an MVP. The fact that Jeff Kent won it over him is a disgrace.
