I grew up nearby in Landisburg WV, also worked in the famous Grist Mill (book at the beginning of video) after H.S. before leaving for the Air Force. I remember when the New River Gorge Bridge first opened, and have been at several Bridge Day Celebrations that they have every October. Did you do the Bridge Walk? It’s a Catwalk under the bridge, you walk on it from one side to the other. They pick you up on the other side and bring you back . Awesome experience.

Did not have time for the Bridge Walk, but I’ve heard it is worth doing.

That location was used by Army Corp of Engineers to practice building bridges. You drove by my home on that road entering the camp.

Nice video! How nice it is for you to be able to get away on a fun camping trip with your son, Scott! Looks like you had good weather and a fun time! Nice campground. (do you know if the lady ever found her keys?) Nice riverbank !! What a cool place to fish! Hey, how are there seashells, in the little river gravel on the edge of the river? Wow. when you and Scott walked down to the river on that trail, that sure were some pretty big river boulders there on the egde of the river there!! and yes, I do remember you seeing that bear at the river last year in Ohio.....If I recall , that was the time you had left the "bear spray" in your backpack in the truck! (scared me for sure)lol Great video you and Scott did !! very enjoyable!! vicky

It would be helpful for us weekend campers to know if when you filmed these and show that the sites are empty if this was on a Saturday when campgrounds are their busiest, or if you visited on say a Tuesday or some other mid week day where most campgrounds are also usually empty. Just would be a nice bit of information to aid us in our planning. Thanks for sharing!

For years I have entered the date recorded in the appropriate field when uploading my videos to RUclips. Apparently, RUclips does not make the video date recorded information visible to RUclips viewers. I just checked on desktop and mobile and could not access the date recorded. However, when I access the video as the creator I see the date recorded. RUclips should share this date with the viewers since RUclips asks for it when I upload each of my videos. Lou

Hi Lou and Scott. Thank you for sharing that video. For a year now, I wanted to go and camp there. The only thing that was holding me back was no Verizon service. I really need service to be able to keep in touch with my family (Dad, sister, son). I ask you. What is the best way to get service with my android phone? That's all I have and that all I use. I don't won't to invest in anything expensive.
I would appreciate any device you recommend. I just have to go there and camp. It's so beautiful. With your video, you made it more beautiful. Thank you. 👋

Something else. You said Beckley Wv.. When I Google map for New River Gorge, it takes me to Lansing Wv. Beckley and Lansing are a half hour from each other. So where do I exactly go? TIA 😊

Can you camp there around March 1st in a small motorhome or are the access roads too dangerous for a motorhome

    • @LivingOurDreamNow

Depends on height. Under 12 feet high should be okay. There is some tree hangover on the narrow access road. Lou
