I suspect Bandai Namco was TRULY convinced this game would be the 'Next Big Thing'... they cancelled One Piece and Naruto games for it, prepared merch and other stuff as follow-ups... SOMEONE completely convinced the execs that THIS was what 'ThE MoDeRn AuDiEnCe' truly wanted. And they fell for the lie hook, line and sinker.

remember devil may cry. how it's upgrade system worked were you unlocked wepons and combo strings. you were given a full kit at the start but could get much more unlocked with upgrades upgrade systems now are half the kit you need then a full kit half way into the game.
