- The Gear Warrior™ Convertible Carry On is a two part bag. You see, it's luggage that has pack straps, and a smaller 18L daypack that clips to the front. The main wheeled bag has a hip belt so you can wear the luggage comfortably, plus sternum straps for extra load bearing support, and clips that attach the daypack to the front, for a convenient (ultra-safe) "Koala Carry".

Eagle Creek really did listen to the comments and added a front extension stand for those tipping bags that are front heavy.

"Eagle Creek" backpacks are incredibly durable and LONG lasting! I bought an "Eagle Creek" backpack about 10 yrs ago. It's what I'd call a medium size and I lug my groceries in it at least 3 times @ week, probably 20 lbs at a time and it's in as good a condition as the day I purchased it. It's rare these days for anything to last and I highly recommend this brand.

Great concept. I just wish there was a bigger option. Marry not a carry on, but a larger backpack that has wheels on it. My main concern is that the internal structure, the bar running up the back, would be uncomfortable on my back if used for longer periods as a backpack. Any feedback on this would be great.

The bag looks amazing! Also how is the comfort for long treks? I understand it is not exactly designed with hiking/trekking in mind, but with the hip strap and padded back, it looks like it could work (on paper)

This bag looks nice. I see a problem in this bag. There is no covering for the wheels. After use the wheels will become dirty & it can make my clothes dirty when carrying as a backpack. I also want to know do the wheels rotate 360 degree like some other wheel bags for easy handling.
In regards to your wheel covering comment, I would recommend bringing a small towel that you could wipe the wheels with if you know you will be rolling your luggage through dirty surfaces. As for the wheels movement, they are fixed in place. They do not swivel 360º like our four wheel bags. Thank you for your comment and we will be sure to pass this along to our development team!

So I either gotta stuff my laptop in the day pack or try to cinch it down inside the main bag but then try to get it out for security? Here in the states I’ve got TSA Pre-check but overseas they make you take that out. Is there a laptop specific pocket?

Sadly this bag has been discontinued. If you're looking for something similar, the Caldera Convertible is most similar, but we're having some inventory issues right now, so it too is out of stock. Hopefully you'll see the Caldera Convertible pop back up on eaglecreek.com within the next month or two.
My only concern are the wheels. What's to stop them from rubbing against my clothes and getting them all dirty??
That's a valid concern. We recommend keeping some mini hand wipes with you and quickly cleaning the wheels before hauling the Convertible on your back, especially if you're wearing nicer clothes.

Yes it can
Unless they are double zipper the locks are useless, a simple pen can open the zipper.

Yes, great question. The two bags together do exceed maximum carry on specs, so you'd want to use the wheeled bag as your carry on, and the backpack as your personal item.

You guys really dropped the ball on this one.
When I first came across this video, I thought you had really nailed it. This bag is looking awesome. The main bag is very well thought out. I’m ready to order. Then you got to the day bag, and it looks like you guys just gave up, or were on such a deadline to release the bag, that you just stuck any old bag on there and called it done. Really? I may as well just buy a carry on and hang a burlap bag on it! The whole purpose of a day bag is to keep the things you regularly need, well organized and at hand. Where are all the organizational pockets? How about the laptop and tablet pockets?

Sorry you feel that way, James. This bag was designed to be a lightweight travel option. We know that not everyone likes to travel with a heavier more built-out backpack.... so we design bags for all travel preferences. That said, since you do, never fear! We have that option. We have Wayfinder Backpacks that are much more built out and you can choose a 20L, 30L, or 40L depending on the size you want and organizational components. Sadly, there are no other bags that have specific clips or other attachment points on them to go with the convertible type luggage.
