  • Had a question submitted asking to explain in detail what I use for moving the multiple props. This one is used for lifting a "bride and groom" ghost up and down- approximately 4 feet total movement from high point to down. You can adjust how far you want your movement by the length of the metal bar that is attached to your motor - the longer the bar, the longer the movement. This bar is approximately 20 inches - which gives you a total movement of 40 inches. The bar for my graveyard props is 6 inches since I only needed 12 inches total movement.
The motor comes from monsterguts.com - they have the best prices usually and have sales throughout the year. You can also buy the speed controllers from them too.
One thing - make sure you wire your power cord below the moving bar so it is clear from all the moving parts.
As I said in the video, I will post my spider props a week or so before Halloween when I have it back up - there will be 18-20 lines coming off the one motor - moving all the spider legs.

what kind of dc adaptor do you use? i tried whit some ones but i cant make the motor works, i try whit 12v 2amps but when i conect it, it detects some kind of circuit cut, and stop sending voltage.

if you are using the same type of wiper motor which you get a multiple different places such as Fright props or monsterguts - they both sell the dc adapters plus they even sell a quick-connect that has two prongs to the wiper motor and then a male/female to disconnect. I think they run no more than $20. You can get them cheaper on Amazon but only if you know the right amperage. So if you are just starting out - I suggest getting the dc adapter from either of those 2 sites.
Now if you are wondering about the speed controller, that's also available at Monsterguts.com. I use a speed controller on all my props since I like the ability to set the exact speed of movement.
Good luck and make sure to ask any other questions if you have one.

thanks for sharing. i am really wanting to try to make some simple fun props for the first time. i like that multiple are using one motor. do you have any tutorials on your props?

I plan on making 2 more videos - hopefully around 2 weeks from now when I start setting up for Halloween. So sorry but you'll have to wait until then.I'm going to show my graveyard setup in more detail so you can see exactly how it works. I'm then going to show the spider web/cocoon prop and show how I do that. I'm new at this so I haven't done tutorials before but I'll try my best. The one thing you could do right now is build the motor mechanism since it's the same for all of the props. A good place to start would be to go to monsterguts.com - they have the entire setup for sale - you will need the motor, power supply, and I would suggest the speed controller too. Once you get that you will need to build the metal arm bracket that spins around - there are tons of how-to videos on the web for attaching it to the motor plus monsterguts.com even sells that too. So start there and in a couple of weeks I' should have the tutorials up to walk you through the rest of it. Good luck

Hello - I just posted a more in-depth video of the graveyard props design. It should show you how to build one. I didn't do a step-by-step of the 2-bar props but as I say in the video, you can just stop the video and look at them and draw up the design or there are lots of videos on youtube that show you how. The main thing to figure out how to build is the motor mechanism which I go through in better detail. Good luck and feel free to ask and questions if you get stuck.

where did you find the motor?

I bought my motors at Monsterguts.com. They sell just the motors, or with a power supply (which I always get), and now they also sell the speed controllers. You can find the power supplies and speed controllers for a bit cheaper if you look at places like Ebay but they aren't as good of quality. Plus its just more convenient to buy everything at once. I haven't been to the website for awhile but they do run specials throughout the year - such as 20% off or free shipping. I believe the whole setup is still around $39. There are a few other places like Frightprops.com that sell them too which they sell controllers call Pico controllers that are really cool - they allow you to set up an On/Off sequence over a duration - there's a video on it at their site. I just purchased one for my spider cocoon victim which will make it go from still to thrashing back to still - more "lifelike".Good luck
