- A wonderful version of Subterranean Homesick Blues performed By Jools Holland and friends (as Ken Bishops Nice Twelve) on The Young Ones (Episode - Cash). Ironically, this was removed from later DVD releases due to BBC being tight and not wanting to pay the licence to have the song on the DVD!
bloody bbc, just finished rewatching the young ones and this is easily one of the best performances in the entire show. looks like it was a lot of fun to be a part of
One of? There was only about five.
@@stanmonzon5788 12 episodes, only 1 didn't have a song.
One of the best songs on the Young Ones 👍🏻
Paused the DVD, came to watch this then back to the episode :)
I still have this episode on VHS. With no cuts. My favourite episode by far. The woman farting still gets me everytime! 😂
I remember that.
Difford and Copeland plus Jools = IRS records best of
Is it a CD ? I can’t find it
I was pissed when this was cut from the DVD.
That’s license fee for ya.
DON'T TELL 'EM YOU'RE A PACIFIST!!
...I only said I was a pacifist.
And I love how Roland Rivron can't stop corpsing!
Look. Snow. Remember that?
RIP Simon Brint.
Ten years now.
Tracked it down, house is Codrington road in Bishopston Bristol.
Good Work !
More specifically...
25 Broadway Rd (in Bristol)
@@GibsterBoy5 so on the corner of Codrington Road and Broadway Road? From memory you do see the Codrington road street sign in this episode. May have to do a “fly by” later to confirm...
Crazy amount of stuff filmed in Bristol. Often passed off as London.
Real shame this was cut from later releases, it's such a fantastic rendition of the song!
It was in the version just shown on Gold.
Thanks so much for posting this. DVD/VHS releases exclude it for some reason and it's a masterpiece!
It's mostly due to the rights of the song
@@MichaelCarter1967347053 I know it's rights...but somehow it seems wrong.
You are doing the lords work.....
Best funniest version of the song.
This scene was included in the 2007 25th Anniversary Box Set. It was cut from the original Series 2 DVD.
Why?
@@timthewarlord2304 Most likely rights issues at the time (often the case) which were cleared in time for the 2007 box set.
Should have started the clip a few seconds earlier. As they're leaving the house, SPG (Vyvyan's pet hedgehog) shouts "Don't tell them you're a pacifist!"
Pretty sure it's a badger
@@solbuxton6819 no its a rat,:)
SPG is a hamster
Special Patrol Group, I used to think he was called Silent But Deadly :+) he's definitely a hamster
@@moejoe5762 Oh aye up Scumbag........oy you teddybear.....
Derek Griffiths, Roland Rivron and Chris Difford too? This is a super group!
Not to mention Stewart Copeland.
Er, Jools Holland!
Best version
stewart copeland from the police
And countless soundtracks.
Awesome 😎
They left this group and song off the U.S. DVD release.
It’s such a shame
Stui as Englishman 👀 🤠✔
To be fair to the BBC the other performances were simple to get the permissions for. This needed to get permissions from all the performers and Bob Dylan, via their money grabbing managers
0:54 is that Jools Holland?
Yeah it is
Mr Copeland 🥁
Watched this a few times now and have yet to see Derek Griffiths. Can anyone enlighten me as to his contribution?
It's Derek Griffiths of The Artwoods. He's playing the white Strat (he sings the line "the man in the trench coat" at 0:16).
@@9ertsch He might have been thinking of Derek Griffiths, the children's TV presenter.
Who knew Jules Holland was actually cool 😂
Best songs??? Its Bob Dylan!
Stuart Copeland sure ain’t no singer 🥴
Horrible
Incorrect.
It's a brilliant cover version from a classic BBC Comedy series .
