• Kate Bush - Hammer Hor...
Bewitchingly mesmerizing.
Welcome back hope u r well. Love Kate bush, my favourite😍
Such a bold, and compelling artist. She was a bit of a tabloid sensation those first few years after she premiered but actually worked to reverse all of that exposure to live a totally private life. The best of the best for imaginative, experimental pop music.
Kate mentioned that she didn't even perform this live in concert and didn't attempt to mime it, as it was solely used as a vehicle to demonstrate the dance routine. Everything else on stage was live.
Kate is one of the few who can decide what she wants to do when she wants to do it, obviously mostly down to one single giving her the security and freedom of choice, much like Tubular Bells did for Mike Oldfield, very cool lady :)....ps really great to see you well again we have missed that smile and await further weather forecasts !
Kate can bring such quirky, yet scary feelings. She is on the edge and you are not sure where she is going. She combines innocence with sexuality in such an interesting way. She is out of control yet in total control. Wild. (as I understand she was never too happy to perform live)
@rk41gator Kate's first concert tour in 1979 was a huge success and she enjoyed it at the time. As time passed, she became more uncomfortable about live performances, but the primary reason was the time and effort required to reproduce the stage productions. Kate wanted to spend more time in the studio.
The meaning of the song as detailed in the Kate Bush Encyclopedia website:
The story of the song concerns an actor who gets thrust into the lead role of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ after the original actor dies in an accident on the film set. He is guilt-ridden ends up being haunted by the ghost of the jealous original actor, who was a former friend.
So your feeling that it involved a ghost was absolutely correct.
From Lionheart, I would suggest "Wow" the other single released from the album.
I believe Kate was 19 when this album was released. It may have been the same year her first album was released being that the record company wanted to cash in quickly on the success of her first album. Kate I believe said she felt a bit rushed, but Lionheart is still very nuanced. Recently Kate said she's headed back to the studio to get a new album started after over a decade so that's exciting news, eh?
That is fantastic news. x
Yes, her debut album, The Kick Inside came out in March 1978 and was a huge success, and Lionheart followed that November. She felt that Lionheart was nothing more than left over songs from her debut album. She knew from the outset she wanted each of her albums to be its own unique experience, and her second album just didn't have that feeling. She got her wish the next year with her third album, Never for Ever, which she co-produced, and she solely wrote and produced every album after that.
@robertjewell9727 Same year but 19 for "The Kick Inside" and 20 for "Lionheart".
Ian Bairnson aka guitar solo on Wuthering Heights. He was the guitarist in Pilot. Ace guitarist.
Oh cool, I remember one track by Pilot and yeah loved the guitar at the end of Wuthering Heights x
Also a big part of the Alan Parsons Project.
@@malcolmstockbridge2569 I remember Dave Paton telling that in the studio someone asked "are we doing the Pilot track today or the one on Alan's project?". Probably how APP was named.
