why does reality tv bother us with THEIR schedule? I don't care if you're missing deadlines. I just want to see the build with the least amount of drama. Wheeler Dealer was very successful and without schedules and drama. Why this format?
I’m also really detailed oriented, it took quite a while for Richard to go the back and check on the Datsun. He was wearing a Panerai (watch) and switch to a Rolex during that time.
@jason9022 It seems like he knows his shit. Sorry that someone takes pride in there work an want there cars to look good an everything line up correctly.
@jason9022 Oh u sound a little butthurt, an what does age have to do with anything? I'm no mechanic but I'm learning how to do things just as any other person. I have a 72 datsun 510 wagon that I'm learning how to put together an currently working on putting techno tuning suspension. The comment you made makes you sound like a child.
Attention to those little details is what sets good shops apart from great shops. I understand the mans attention to detail. I know shops that rather turn away work because they want it done the right way not cut corners and thats very respectable
A true perfectionist not only perfections things but time aswell , its more of a “dont tell me what to do scenario “ or i gave it my best but still not the best but why not help instead of looking?
I built a 78 datsun 280z and was able to get most of my parts from Motorsport Auto in Orange, CA for cheap. At the end of the day, I was into my car for 20k. I drove it almost 10 years before Schwarzenegger changed the smog laws on me and I was forced to sell it. The good news was that the guy I sold it to turned it into a race car.
Richard calling in big mike saved this project! I get that their is a deadline, but u can not be ok with shit not being aligned correctly, especially if it's going to SEMA with ur name on it. U keep it up big mike.
Nor was his answer relevant to the statement made at hand about suspension and brakes coming from Japan. Yes I know it has some Japanese parts but none of what Richard said was true lol.
I can't believe that car met such a quick and complete death. In a later episode they sold it to a guy who put it on a transport truck to take home. The truck caught on fire and the car was burned down to a shell.
damn big Mike! so cal celebrity! big Mike does it right or doesn't do it at all. these guys don't know about the details like big mike. he's a perfectionist!
I never seen you do a 78 Monte Carlo are you up for the challenge I know you did a Olds Cutlass but I never seen you do a Monte a collector's item plus a classic if needed and wanted comment back
Difference with a great build (BigMike) and a TV build by CrapMonkey garage...Only thing bothers me is price we as Import builders face, a 60's mustang build can have replica parts and go for over 90grand and be praised. But if I build a Honda and dont put in a 1000.00 screw with the word SPOON on it Im ridiculed and thats the problem with our scene and the ones selling it at that price are the cause. They don't care about anything other than getting that money for a label whore build
Big Mike You deserve it and then some & just think half of what you did will be seen used by the same old SEMA build winners and claim it as "never been done b4" or as we call it in the tuner scene Mike & Co. 5 years ago. Just wish they would have given you a show instead of some Midwest builder, but that could be because as we all know the Midwest is 😂😂😂 trend setters in our scene... #cantmakethisup #seeyouMay6
Amazon Special Parts/ Japan Parts Lmao!!! Those wide flares are 150 all 4 on E Bay lmao all Those Brands can be ordered from anyone in states especially california.
exactly what was imported that totalled 80k? for less than HALF THAT they could have imported an ACTUAL NISSAN SKYLINE R33 GTR and swapped over the entire drivetrain had an awd skyline powered rb26.. not that cookie cutter stuff
yeah but there isnt enough CHANGED on that car for it to be 80k. i deal with old japanese cars all the time. nothing on that car was that much and the most expensive mod was the independent rear suspension.
80k is for the parts, labor, vehicle, fees, etc. There are like 8 employees.. $16-24 an hour each person.. plus overtime = time and a half.. it's like a snowball effect
I am pretty sure even a 1990-1994 300ZX Turbo Stillen stage 5 or 350/370ZX project would not blow through this much money. And the end result would drive circles around what they are building.
Man so hate for richard and not enough appreciation for him. 😪 I mean its not like his producers make him say the deadlines and they pay him even more. I think he's doing pretty well considering that he is making bank everything he owns but haters are going to hate regardless.
I like it. At least they stuck with nissan for the engine. It could have been worse. That was a damn clean rustfree z to begin with. I'm thinking what cost 80k? It certainly wasn't in floorpan replacement or frame rails. You could have had an RB in there with that kind of money
Brian, how are you going to have a z32 as a profile pic and call the sr20 just a 4 cylinder. If you knew your shit, you know they did a good job on this even though they do some shit cars sometimes
Jeff Conover I forgot about the sonic build!! I remember watching that and immediately thought of the occ blueprint. I do think that was one of the last episodes I watched before changing the channel.
To anyone who has been crapping on the build cost, I'd be interested to see how many of you have actually tried to build a resto-mod like this. It all adds up in a hurry. I can believe $80K.
Raul Betancourt That’s great that you have the skills and the time to restore cars yourself. I respect that. But I’m betting that if you restore cars for sale, the cost of your labor is included the selling price.
Yes, business wise I totally get what you mean and yes my labor is included. I guess it just bothers me that they said all these parts came from Japan. Which the only thing that was imported was the engine. The suspension and almost everything else is American made. I just miss Aaron, glad he has his own show now.
"imported suspension from Japan" Thats why the company is called "Arizona Z Car"
Oakey Banks or techno toy tuning
Wow so that awesome paint/wheel combo wasn't intended? So glad they kept the color.
Yep maybe Richard would sell it to me for a lost like he always does lol.
let's make this show "interesting" by giving the project an unrealistic time frame
Fake Drama
Yeah they always do that for some drama..
Their builds for the most part are interesting to watch but the constant unrealistic time frame is freaking annoying!
Lol the screen is still lit when he’s “on the phone” acting at its finest
I own an iPhone and my screen can be lit when on the phone? Maybe yours is broken
Someone call MCM and ask them how to build a fairlady
why does reality tv bother us with THEIR schedule? I don't care if you're missing deadlines. I just want to see the build with the least amount of drama. Wheeler Dealer was very successful and without schedules and drama. Why this format?
greg h because Americans love drama.
greg h 80% of people thrive on drana
I believe American Chopper brought it in the "industry", the shit that is happening is more important than the shit they build.
i think the deadline was sema...
This drama was self generated, plain and simple. There wasn’t anything outside of the build that caused this.
Show is crap without Aaron
*Aaron* dude u can't even spell the guys name right
martinezandy15 can't you even tell when someone gets a name wrong instead of misspelling it?
Yeah show is crap without Aaron scout and kc
But 280 Z
@ronnie doorzon bruh you sound like a hating ass bitch... money is not everything to some people
Every show has a time crunch. Does anybody just build a car and when it's done, it's done?
I’m also really detailed oriented, it took quite a while for Richard to go the back and check on the Datsun. He was wearing a Panerai (watch) and switch to a Rolex during that time.
Hahahahah you're right. I see that panerai when he's in his office but when he walks out into the garage he has a Rolex. Good catch sir
When muscle car builders meet the tuner guy😂
Alex Hernandez fucking right????? lmao
jason9022 damn foo relax why do you hate tuners so bad? Did a little civic wax you on a quarter mile or something?
@jason9022 It seems like he knows his shit. Sorry that someone takes pride in there work an want there cars to look good an everything line up correctly.

Crazy realistic especially the script
Even though you failed will be looking forward to seeing other episodes

A true perfectionist not only perfections things but time aswell , its more of a “dont tell me what to do scenario “ or i gave it my best but still not the best but why not help instead of looking?
Too much drama, its fucking cars dude. Reasons I dont like discovery shows.
3:44 he’s not even talking to anyone😂😂😂
It’s great that he wants to do it the right way instead of doing it the fast way.

This car is slapping heads!
80k over? wow. The only way it hit that is because of the high dollar people working on it with labor costs.
Last I checked Arizona Z Car suspension and Wilwood brakes are made in America not Japan.
Tomei LSD comes from japan
Tomei doesnt make an r180 or r200 LSD.
Nor was his answer relevant to the statement made at hand about suspension and brakes coming from Japan. Yes I know it has some Japanese parts but none of what Richard said was true lol.
none of what you guys are saying is true either
"Last I checked Arizona Z Car suspension and Wilwood brakes are made in America not Japan." Prove me wrong.
Haha, they have a ton of eBay parts on this build.. How exactly did they go over budget?
I like that red c10 in the background
Todd Adams I do to I like it better then the car there working on
I can't believe that car met such a quick and complete death. In a later episode they sold it to a guy who put it on a transport truck to take home. The truck caught on fire and the car was burned down to a shell.
I saw the car in person on long island weeks before it burned down

Richard looks like hell in this episode. Damn man
His probably annoyed that he hired that guy
can a show get any faker?
Why you're watching sissy girl 😂😭😍😂
More fake?... not any faker..

I watch Joe Rogan w/ this guy on his show, now this dude is all on my thread... good job Discovery. Lmao DAMN! 😕

Who is this guy. Gordon Ramsey of the cars. 😂😂
I loved the 240! Was it gmg that burned it down? Just wondering?
That’s the best car they have built by far. Probably cause big mike doesn’t mess around with his builds.
I exact same color 2+2 watch a movie called running on empty. And remember Green.. Green is nice..

Where is the master mechanic Aaron Kaufman? He is the man and used car salesman Richard would be nowhere without him.
The Datsun wasn’t made for upgrades it was just a simple car to save on gas
The Datsun Fairlady Z is an out and out sports car. Damn near everyone and their grandma modded them the world over.

That c10 tho
disappointed! that is time I will never get back and I have to watch another video? Time is money.
Was this the ep mike coy and jason has a arguement over mike needing the car for paint if not anyone no the ep number?
The time crunch is why the garage lost Aaron.
The problem is they do more talking than building
