- Holy crap! A fourth video in a little over a month! I sure am spoiling you all! In a bit of a surprise, Silksong was playable at E3 this year. There are a lot of small details to go over, so that's what I will be doing in this video.
This video is a little light on lore analysis. I wanted to keep wild speculation down to a minimum this time, since I really don't have many strong theories at the moment. But there are still a few connections we can make if we so please.

Okay, just to clear the air on some things.
1. I know that poems don't have to rhyme! I was being sarcastic, but apparently I didn't convey that very well. My favorite poem is "Red Wheel Barrow by William Carlos Williams:

2. The angry rant at the 15 minute mark was also supposed to be exaggerated for comedic effect. Sorry if it seems to genuine and cringey.

I found the angry rant funny. But I have a counter argument. She doesn't show void because she wasn't born made out of void, it might be a mixture of void and spider silk. I'm only saying this since it makes sense in my head when her items are in a cocoon. Also sorry for my grammer mistakes.

I can't believe that people say Hornet is void. She literally says "Though our strength is born of similar source, that part of you, that crucial emptiness, I do not share". She had just mentioned that the knight is imbued with void after going into its birthplace, so that emptiness she talks about is void, which she explicitly says she does not share. The strength they share is their father.
People just like being stupid I guess. Really there isn't any evidence that hornet is void at all

Also, in the Dream No More Ending, you literally see all of the void siblings (The Knight included) passing on, since their task is finished. Hornet stays behind.

Honestly I agree with him. I felt Hollow Knight was too combat inclined sometimes. The white palace was the only place that challenged your platforming ability, and (as far as I know, I am like 85% done with the game) that place is done after you get the half of the Kingsoul. In contrast, not only you have a TON of bosses in the main game, now you have Godhome, where you can fight EVEN HARDER versions of them. And honestly, after spending nearly 2 to 3 hours trying to defeat Nightmare King Grimm yesterday and dying over and over again, that massive boss rush to get to Absolute Radiance (which it seems to be the hardest boss in the game as well) does NOT sound fun at all to me. Idk maybe it's just a case of having to Git Gud (TM) or something like that, I'm not the "hardcore" Hollow Knight fan that some people are.
judging by your comment you haven't seen it yet, but there is an optional super hidden zone inside the white palace, while it doesn't stop this statement from being true, it is another platforming area to see

@@purevessel1071 oh yeah I can't get past them, I struggle at the first phase. Right now I'm a standstill. Stuck on mantis lords, just about able to beat Crystal guardian (the guy on the bench) and left to go to soul sanctum.
I'm stuck on the miniboss there cause I'm avoiding the mantis lords fight.
That and I hate the fungal wastes in general
@Galacticmoonwolf. Pure Vessel on a different account. If you have Dream Nail, you can cheese Crystal Guardian easily, like I did.
Just dream nail him for Soul, then spam spells. Spells don't wake him up.
The most unrealistic part about this is that Hornet's dress or cloak having pockets

The bug that broke the seal of binding appears to be a lumafly, the same kind that is found in all of hollownest’s lanterns. Possibly these could be more important/powerful than previously thought?
Lumaflys have a single bright point of light along with glowing wings in the general anatomy of a fly whereas the seal breaker glows brightly throughout with similar anatomy to a dragonfly
Also seer seemed to transform into a lumafly when she ‘died’ so they probably a lot more lore around these guys
What about seer, since they turned into one?
If you look at a lumafly, it appears to be a single point of light with wings. If you look at these flies, they have a fundamentally different structure. It is possible they could just be less glowy, but I think it's not likely.
It looks more like the bugs that fly very fast in the background from the white palace, definitely significant.
The “invisible masks” glitch also happens with the Baldur shell in hollow knight
I've encountered a random glitch where a life blood mask just appears under a regular mask and flashes in and out of reality. It can never be hit so I get fewer masks and it only shows when the mask it's underneath breaks.

Hornet : Soul (from the king) + Thread (from her mother which is freakin spider)

@@captaindonut5240 but not everything manipulates soul. I'm asking if the weavers use soul for their spells, or just plain silk. And if so, if they can use soul due to a connection to a higher being, or just through study.
@@mckaygoodman6514 oh my bad. I think they do manipulate soul, because the silk is used for all kind of magic things, not as ordinary ropes. They store things on it. If that makes them higher beings? They are related to Herra, so maybe Herra, and the other dreamers, are higher beings as well? Maybe that is just stupid. I would love a mossbag vid on this.

I think its really neat that Deep Docks take elements from the cut Hollow Knight area, the Bone Forest. It was going to be instead of Ancient Basin, and be comprised of bone and lava. Cool to see them bringing back the concept.

I also think that the transition should have closed in on hornet instead of spewing out so that it feels like she becomes a cocoon. In the bench after dying hornet will be sitting in darkness and after the player moves, she can see all around the room but it’s just an idea fir this transition
I just assumed that tidbit about bugs losing their memories and minds when they leave Hallownest was nothing but lies and propaganda by the King. After all, quite a few come to Hallownest to explore it's depths and quite a few leave during the game as well including the knight himself.
The “invisible health” glitch that occurs when healing also exists in hollow knight, but the only ways to trigger it are with deep focus and Baldur shell, which nobody uses
"Hornet is void" is the equivalent of the "Flat Earth" but for the hollow knight community.
But hornet is void and the earth is flat and the moon is cheese and kids will get autism if they get vaxxed

I think Hornet is void in the same way the hollow king is void. The hollow knight and the other pure void beings are special cases that has their void be more physical instead of evaporated as they are physically made of it.

ok so here's an idea:
Pharloom's Folly is talking about the Weavers.
the first line, "they see your beauty, so frail and fine," sounds like it could describe the weavers phisicaly.
the second line, "they forget your peace, woven of faith and toil," might mean that while being used to produce silk, the weavers have been worshiped(sort of) and mostly peacefull.
the third line, "they forget you're heart, bound in slumber and servitude," could mean that the bugs of Pharloom have used the weavers for silk and kept them in a slumber for such a long time that they have forgotten that they are sentient beings( or something like that).
and the last lines, "when you wake they shal see your truth, a beast's nature bare to all," could mean that when the weavers are freed and awoken (possibly by hornet) they will reveal their true spider's nature, possibly being violent (because anything at all from Deepnest is 100% death in every way and can go f*ck itself).
ok, this is pretty out there, but i thought it was a possibility and I hope i'm at least a little right.
Edit: I'm not sure how the bells tie into this, so I'll just leave that up to you, mossbag and fellow viewers (i almost capitalised the m. that was a close one lol)
Yeah my thoughts exactly. And I think the poem works as a prophecy of sorts, and also its indirectly referring to Hornet.
Maybe bells keep them at bay? Like how loud noises scare the monsters in A Quiet Place

As far as Pharloom's Folly, they may be talking about Hornet herself, as her mother was Herrah the Beast. She's supposed to be pretty, frail and fine in appearance as the hunter describes her as nimble. She's a spider, hence the woven of faith and toil and has been one of the few fighting against the infection and trying to save Hallownest in the last game. She never really had a chance to interact with her mother or father and rarely let her emotions get in the way of serving the kingdom and the last part kind of implies the game. Hornet is a spider, or a beast as her mother was once named. She's about to go to town, and their folly was messing with her.

what I find interesting is that poem also applies to Hornet's character,
they only see her looks, they see that she has faith, they forget that she has a cause to serve,
and when she wakes up (seal of binding being destroyed) everyone will see that she has a beast's nature; as in her mother was Herrah the beast.

The weird butterfly things appear in multiple places in the White Palace in Hollow Knight. They kind of just... fly away in the background. Noticed them when first getting to the White Palace on my own. I was like "I-it's the things!! From that one scene in Silksong!!".

I just figured out why the enemies have a stagger animation! It’s hard to catch but you can clearly see hornet hit the enemy multiple times and the hits do not break it’s stagger. This is different to hollow knight, in which hitting a staggered enemy nearly always results in them becoming unstaggered. hope this helps anyone else who was confused about the animation!

Also Lace in silksong probably works like Hornet in HK1, where you fight her once here, then again later. That's probably what the different backgrounds and one fight being more intence then the other is about.

I have not done the path of pain, but there was a lot of swearing and screaming involved when climbing up to the throne room... Anyone who can do this without the wasp charm is OP... Or has no life, it can only be one of these two IMHO.
Hornet is a child of the pale king after all it makes sense that she could retain a mind and her memories after leaving hallownest

Lace is actually trying to save you from the final part of silksong, the Pantheon of Hallownest and Pharloom, which has every boss in Hollow Knight and Silksong consecutively and if you die you restart from the beginning

This is going to be hard for me to admit but I have to face my demons eventually.
Before nine months ago, I am ashamed to say that I was once a "Hornet is Void" believer. I know, disgusting. It was a truly dark time for me. I can not even begin to express just how sorry I am for all the hollow brethren I have tainted with my ideology. Everyday I regret my actions as little ghosts of my past still continue to haunt me. On late September of last year, you brought me out of the dark and it changed my life forever. Thank you. Now with this new revelations, I can finally see how truly wrong I was.

I came here after your "Why Hornet isn't Void" video to see how she dies in Silk song if there's no shade. Was not disappointed. Also note that when "the knight" PC from hollow knight dies it shows a shade form then transitions using black (which isn't void). And yes hornet's leaking soul and lack of shade are very definitive of her having no void, other people are either being emotional (instead of rational) or trolling.
Well I honestly think that the fact that the screen goes black when Hornet is defeated could be a way of saying that she is forming a silk dome around his "Remnants"

Why doesn’t Hornet leak void like the Knight when at one health?
Why would Herrah sacrifice herself for brood, if her child would be killed and hollowed out by void?
Why does Hornet say “your birth” to the Knight when talking about the Abyss? Why not say “our birth”?
What is the purpose of putting void in Hornet if she’s not meant to be a vessel for the Radiance?
Why does Hornet say she lacks the crucial emptiness of the Knight when we know that “emptiness” is a phrase completely synonymous with the void?
Why does Hornet have a gender?
Why does Hornet say the bindings of the Black Egg would drain her if she’s a void being?

The game is pretty ham-fisted in driving the point the siblings are not the same, and quite the opposite.

I like to think spiders once ruled the kingdom of Pharloom, with weavers being part of the upper class. Then something happened where another party took over the kingdom and started to use these spiders to produce silk. The weavers in Hallownest, who were helping or serving Herrah, probably wanted a being who could serve the kingdom. Here Hornet comes into significance because she is half a pale being. As for why the weavers prematurely left Hallownest if they knew the kingdom was no longer under their control is something I do not know. Or it could be that the weavers wanted to put a revolution in motion ans were seeking help from Hallownest, only to be prematurely cut short by the Radiance's infection.

In that "secret boss" fight at the beginning of the game, a brazilian streamer named Cellbit managed to get there and tried to beat it. After many failed attempts, he reached an employee to ask if the player could actually kill it in the demo and she said that you will only be able to beat that bug when you acquire a skill (or something like that) further in the game.

Dreams are not tied to the Radiance, Hallownest or the Moth Tribe, the Radiance is a higher being that lives within the Dream, anyone can create their own Dream world if they want to, also the Grimm troupe is still around, which means Nightmare is still a thing
Hornet has nothing to do with Unn and not much connection to the White Lady, but they are still extremely powerfull entities, without the Radiance who knows what they will do to Hallownest, that's why I wish we can get at least a mention to what is going on in Hallownest after the Radiance was killed
If you mean The Hollow Knight as like your character in the first game then hes kinda dead or sealing the radiance
@@aaaa-kr1qb Actually he may not be dead. After becoming completely void he goes on to defeat Radiance completely in the True Ending. I believe he won't make an appearance in Silksong but I would love to hear him mentioned as I really grew attached to him and he deserves recognition for his legendary feat.
@@neyte7313 I doubt Bretta is dead. While we may know that Quirrel and The Knight are the only known characters to survive beyond the Howling Cliffs. I think for Bretta to make it to the Fungal Wastes where she is rescued I think she has some abilities in survival. She is probably a terrible fighter but maybe she can run really fast? Who knows?

4 years later and I’m yet to hear anyone come up with the theory that the game is a prequel.
Think about it.
Throughout the game you’re leveling Hornet up and getting new abilities. That would make more sense than a jacked Hornet being able to destroy anything in her path (except for Ghost) that we know today. After the binding vanishes, she explodes with silk. Which she can supposedly control. But, the seal was restricting her ability, so when she got it all back at once she must’ve lost control of her power. Right?
Well, yes, but also no for that first part. I think that she doesn’t have as much control over her powers, as she hasn’t learned to. Yes, she can do a few things, but not everything. Which explains why she so easily lost control when it all cam rushing back to her. So, in theory, when we play Silksong, we’re going on the journey that made Hornet as powerful as she is in the first game.
We’re leveling her up, and then eventually she’ll leave and return to Hallownest, to be it’s protector. How she left in the first place is a bit more confusing, as we have no idea how she ends up in the cage, but there’s nothing I’ve seen to counter the fact it’s a prequel.
It reminds me about Little Nightmares II. Going in, you don’t know it’s a prequel. You just start off playing Mono, a new protagonist different than the first installment of whom you play a girl named Six.
Then you find Six without her signature raincoat, and the smarter people will realize this is the “past.” However, some people may not realize it’s a prequel til the end, when there’s the cutscene of Six being taken to the Prison.
There’s a lot more to it, like the Loop and how technically the past is the future and… so many more confusing things with the protagonist of Little Nightmares II named Mono and the Tall Man that also ties in heavily with the Loop and just- so much.
But it’s an example of how you don’t know it’s a prequel for a good time into the game. They present it as a sequel, it turns into a prequel. They even gave it a “II” at the end.
However, Silksong isn’t Hollow Knight II so there’s more room to say that “ah, yes, this is a prequel.”
I'm glad someone referenced mossbag's favorite artist, who wrote ghost, the famous Justin Beiber. But on your other point, people used to think that the "hornet DLC" would be a prequel, as to not make any one ending canon, but this has mostly been discarded as team cherry has (I mean, not explicitly but Team Cherry said that they decided which endings were canon when asked if it was a pre or sequel) explicitly called it a sequel.
