      Hey thanks for the comment ! Most of the finds at this particular dig site are from the Middle Archaic period and are 4000 to 6000 years old. We find a lot of Buzzard Roost and Benton points. The depth is anywhere between 3ft and 5.5 feet deep. Usually sitting just on top of the hard clay layer. Thanks for watching my friend!

      Hey thanks for leaving a comment and watching. I feel pretty strongly we are on a Benton and Buzzard Roost site. We are at around 4ft right now, but are going to redig our area. We feel like we have dug over a lot of stuff. We ended up digging a 6ft test hole and have already found 4 artifacts in the small hole. So the plan is to redig the area at a deeper debth. Stay tune we have a lot more digging videos to upload for 2023. 👍🏻

      Most of all the artifacts we find are prehistoric but there were 5 major tribes during the historical period. The Chickasaw, Shawnee, Yuchi, Koasati and the Cherokee native people. I believe our area would fall between the Shawnee and Yuchi people in Tennessee. There is lots of information to learn on the historical period. Thanks for watching!

      I completely understand. I live in north Texas so you have nothing to worry about. I only ask cause I like researching the area via geographic nature. Is there many creeks? Is there many peaks and valleys? Is there a main river? Major waterways? Explicit geographic nature that could explain the dump of artifacts in relation to where I’m at?…
      But I get it. Thanks anyways. And may the great spirits guide you.

      You are correct we are now stopping the video after each find. Then taking another video of our clean up at a water branch close by. We like using fresh running water if we can find it. Our biggest issue has been in the summer months when our branch is dry. We have been using spray bottles, so hopefully that will help during the drought. Who do you think made the arrowheads-men or the women?

    • @TennesseeRocks
      @TennesseeRocks  11 месяцев назад

      This is a great question. I think it’s probably debatable but there is some information out there leading me to believe that the answer is both Men and Women knapped knives and tools to meet the demand of the task at hand. I would be willing to bet that if it was more hunting related the man probably crafted the tool and if it was more food processing or clothing related the woman would craft the tool to fit the need. That’s a great question and thanks for leaving a comment!
