Great video. Both are amazing figures and it appears that you won't be disappointed with either. I do love my Quietus for my collection but I can't wait to see Eligos in hand. Glad you did this
I really hope this means xtransbots is learning and we continue to see their products get better and better. I have multiple preorders in for figures and this gives me hope. Can’t wait for Runabout and Runamuck. We need as many good companies as we can get all competing so we all win. Great versus really appreciate it!
On the X-transbots Cyclonus did they fix the cockpit canopy part, I use to have the original and I never got to transform it into jet mode because the one of the tabs broke on me?
Very fair review! I went with FT but XTB is solid here. Its the added bulk of Eligos that kept me away, the lower legs in particular. Well that and my accumulated distrust of the quality of Keith's products. I'll never preorder another of Keith's products but I'll happily add one if it reviews well and, like you said, this was a contender!
I feel like articulation is a tie - a double jointed knee doesn't mean all too much, since most of us pose him standing (probably). I also feel like an argument could be made for transformation being a tie, since Quietus could chip when the knee guards hit the chest piece. Overall, you can't go wrong with either. I prefer the aesthetic of Quietus (and it as a whole), but I completely understand why others prefer Eligos.
If I start judging whether articulation is meaningful then where does it end? Do I ignore ab crunch or waist swivel or anything else? I can't arbitrarily choose what articulation matters and what doesn't. Also for transformation, the reason I gave FT the point was because you have to bend the plastic to transform XTB, that is actually in the instructions and not a user specific thing. The paint chipping on the FT chest is user specific if you transform it out of order (chest is the last step, check my instructions video).
FansToys did a fix to Quietus' kneepads with the FT-29T animation recolor. They did a bit of resculpt to make sure there's clearance for the kneepads not to scratch the chest. Used to have an Eligos before I got Quietus, and the transformation is much more livable with Quietus.
The beauty of this character is that when you buy every iteration of it (just 2, hopefully more in the future) for army building, there is that random looking to an army. I hate it when I army build that they all look alike. Kinda like sharkticons, its a perfect army building character; I re-imagine that there are different sizes and looks to it, so you can mix and match all of them.
Sorry to say the idea that they fixed the tolerance issues on the Eligos is a wishful dream. I got one recently, MX-3+ version and too many joints are stupid tight, the default face has too long a chin to actually fit inside the compartment it has when transformed into vehicle mode... so the only option is to remove the head or just go with another face... frustrating of course when you are trying to transform the damn thing for the first time. Then there's the two pegs that hold the top part in place over the cockpit. For no valid reason that I can find the right peg got stuck in and refused to come out, I was able to use a separator tool to get the left one out but the only way the right one got out was by me applying enough force to basically tear the peg out. To add insult to injury simply putting the peg in the hole so it'll cover up the gap doesnt work... it falls back out! Final annoyance is that getting the fists to fit inside the little engine nozzles that cover them up when in ship mode is the mother of all frustrations... there is only One possible way for it to fit and there's nothing to really show you what that way is... It's like the hands needed a 10% or 5% reduction in size... In short, X-transbots MX-3+ was hands down the worst transformers toy I have ever had the displeasure of trying to transform... it literally forced me to break a piece to go back from vehicle to robot mode... I cant recommend staying away from it enough. The features just arent worth it for the absolute murder this thing will do on your enjoyment. It looks good but the designer needs to go back to school and learn how to engineer these things with some god damn margins for the tolerances because if this is the "improved" version? The original must have been just unplayable if you got anything but a lucky miracle instance of it.
I just got this Eligos for $70 so I'm happy. It'll be next year's Christmas present as I like to buy when they're on sale. I've already got Fans Toys so I don't need him.
Great review. Xt looks more “super hero ish” to me. And ft looks more…I don’t know…like, “galvatron can boss him around with no lip”. They both look great! If I could I think I’d have ft in ship mode displayed and xt in robot mode. Thanks again! Btw…broken horn is just too slavish for me anymore.

Great Comparison per usual, but Im Biased about this one. FTs Cyclonus is my Fav FTs Figure followed by Their Wild Rider. Having both the Old XTB and FTs Cycloni I cant say XTBs is close to FTs. To me XTBs feels and looks like a KO of FTs that drank to much soda. Even in this Refresh I can only see XTBs as a BB 9mm to FTs actual 9mm handgun. Like I said Im Biased on this one. LOL...
You forgot to add the category "best Transforming Transformers figure of all time, period." Only one of these figures wins that one, but one definitely wins that one. Edit: As I was typing that you actually said something regarding this statement. I love it.
I’m glad I waited for Quietus and I’m waiting for the FT Scourge. It’s too bad all the companies don’t do their version of Scourge. Like they did Springer. Like that we can collect them and they will all have their distinctive looks. But who will be Scourge or a Sweep.
What’s great about this if you wanna army build I think both can work for any collect her to have a cyclone us that looks slightly different instead of having the same figure over and over again
The main thing I don't like about the XTB version is the fact that they couldn't fully hide the plane's tip/needle. They should've re-worked it with this release. It unfortunately sticks out of his rear-end (@ 6:00 you see what I mean). Worst kibble ever. Anyway nice review and comparison, I almost want to pick up the new XTB plus version...almost. Maybe a pair of flush cutters can shorten that tip about a quarter inch.
You can't lose with either as both look really good. The best version would be if Fans Toys designed the figure but, with the robot of the Xtransbot. That's my perfect figure right there. Everything else is Fans Toys. However, X-transbots is way cheaper and looks great as well. Well, after all this, I decided to go with the Fans Toys Quietus. Overall appearance from robot and alt mode won it for me.
It looks like your xtb is missing a paint app on the wing on its right shoulder. The rudder area should be black, like on the opposite side. It’s just purple on the side facing forward in robot mode 😢
Something about XTB that screams Season 3.. I think overall a Tie.. can't go wrong with either. I still feel like they haven't captured that Purple yet. I have to check every companies Cyclonus. Great VS. 🌟🤓
Great video. For my money, FT is the clear winner here. Something about the XTB just looks too… puffy? Cyclonus is my favorite G1 Decepticon and I think Quietus just knocks it out of the park in terms of likeness. Easily a top 5 MP figure for me. The XTB is definitely improved over the older Eligos but I can’t get past the face sculpt. Anyway, keep up the good work
Eligos looks more like Cyclonus than Quietus. Both in bot and alt mode. Quietus too thin.. can’t remember Cyclonus looks like a whimp lol😅 but Quietus alt mode is a beauty.
For me, the one peeve with FT-Quietus is I feel like they went a little too light on the pink forearms/highlights/whatever-you-call-'em. I actually prefer the colour scheme on the new XTB version, but FT is still the clear overall winner. I've dealt with a lot of FT transformations & I feel Quietus is easily one of their most intuitive. The last thing I had from XTB was full of gaps, holes & brittle plastic 😒
Right off top, the X transbots face looks horrible. Looking at that cartoon image the fans toys is clearly more cartoon accurate and comic book accurate.
@@TMan978 I understand and appreciate your opinion on it. I would agree that the mold could be seen as a stylized representation...I also think it comes down to how one sees the character..is he more convening, mustache twirling, toadie...or is his this brooding quiet bruiser, the strong arm for Galvatron? Both versions are seen in the cartoon and comics. I do like a hulking version for some elements..Again, Either works great in a collection...there is subjectivity...but some prefer to wear blinders and brand loyality.
No offense, but I think this is the fairest comparison I've ever watched you do between these two companies. XTB does usually make masterpiece quality pieces, which isn't reflected in the usual score disparities. 1-3 points behind FT makes total sense. I have usually picked XTB's offerings because I'm a poor and good value is usually good enough. But I still know what's up. They are never the same.
I've been asked about including "value" in these comparisons before and the problem is there is no way to score it. I can't decide what a person will value more, so I just go with cost. But I do hear you, XTB has a value with what they offer per dollar
I don’t get how you can prefer the look of the FT in both modes, but tie them in sculpt. Then you give FT the nod in build, articulation, transformation and alt-mode, but XTB gets a point for being less expensive? It’s clearly an inferior figure. It should cost less. It felt like you were pulling your punches on the XTB. Like you, I have and prefer the FT (so we both win). Personally, I think the XTB looks like Bizarro Cyclonus, so I’d have given toon accuracy to FT as well, but I understand that that is subjective.
