Despite the kibble, there is something endearing about these robots, and the updated alt modes really makes it feel like the concept for this set truly came from the heart.

That Palpy impression is money dude!! Killed it! I think you're right on about Bruticus here, this is the one to beat, and its not getting beaten. I chose GT's Devastator and love it, but man that TW Devy, game changer.

Great review. I compare all combaticons to the Warbotron team now, and in some respects I like how how things were handled here. The kibble on the forearms is what I don't like and, see that Warbotron moved that mass to the shoulders and back, which I think is better. That shuttle mode is killer, and I love it.

Great review Skull Brother!!! I have to agree with you 100% I think the combined mode of this set is going to rein supreme. I don't really care for the robot mode but I think the shuttle looks great. BTW Great Palpatine. I look forward to serving my Sith Master in the future...

My guess on the eyes is that ToyWorld wanted lightpiping and molded the back of the head with the clear pieces on the chest. After Zeta took over they decided against lightpiping but since the molds were already made they had to work with that. That works with my other theory that part of their low price is that TW paid for the molds before Zeta left, and that Zeta sees no need to recoup those costs.

I love this dude. Albeit kibbly. Warning nerdy advice: with the combined port you can open the front of the chest and push your finger in "so to speak" to get a bit more leverage behind dem ratchets to get it out. Great review as per. I'm happy with this 1st release from zeta. Good vibes

Wow, I did not expect anything out of robot mode, but this thing FEELS great, even posing I'm robotmode! It s the weight and plastic quality I think.... If u can get over the aesthetics/kibble 😂

I think the bot size is perfect considering they are the same size or just a tad shorter than Starscream in the G1 toon. Love that they paint the eyes metallic red as opposed to light piping, which is about as useful as nips on a man! But the more I see these Kibblecons for some reason, the more I'm digging, although I will be modding them to displace all that extra crap hanging off of them as well as giving them more G1 styled eyes . Still scratching my head as to how they can absolutely nail the Arielbots so far and miss the mark with these guys!? Anyway, great analysis as always👍

This one is a far cry from my problems with Vortex. My biggest complaint about that one isn't that he looks like Blackout, it is all that kibble. This one seems much cleaner overall. Here's hoping you get the set you want. 👍🏻

That is a good looking shuttle, there needs to be more shuttles in transformers just because astrotrain and sky lynx are not as cool as blastoff
I believe scale should be more character based than chart based, so i'm ok with the combaticons being large and beefy, seeing as how they are an advanced military unit, with the only exception being Swindle, seeing as how he's a total sham parading around with a bunch of walking death machines. I don't understand why some people are so obsessed with the sunbow chart, I get things like "carbots are this size and minibots are this size", nobody wants a bumblebee the size of Ultra Magnus, or a Devastator the size of Windcharger, but I'm ok with variation. I get the need for cartoon accuracy, but that show is famous for inconsistencies. Anyway, thanks for reading me ramblings, great review as always. :)

Are these Zeta Toy's Combaticons supposed to combined with Unique Toy's Onslaught?
Seen their Swindle figure...not sure how to feel about it, something about it seems off...like how you can see the undercarriage & things of that nature.
As for Blastoff, I think they did pretty good for the figure, tbh. Came out great, I think.

To be honest, when I got him I thought the kibble will be a turn off, however the figure feels so good in hand so I look pass it and it does not bother me at all now.
To be fair the production version of this is far better built and far more solid than the TW Cunstructicons(or maybe is my copy of the toy)

Random thought I had just now, I'm hoping someone does some cheat to make it look like CW or FP Bruticus has Zeta Blast Off as an arm as a joke on the Bruticus scale meme. Maybe use G1 Swindle as well.

I understand that this will be the Bruticus that most people want due in part to it's shear size.... But I personally can't justify spending money on what essentially an arm. Just make a non transforming bruticus statue, that seems to be what we are being asked to buy here in the long run. Thanks for the review uncle B and please do a customizing video for the Saturday discussion or Sunday whatever I'd love some tips.

Agreed. G-1 was everywhere in the cartoon when it came to sizes. I think the Deceptions in general along with the combining ones should be big.

Not trying to be a Negative Nancy but I just realize the arm mode's connector port is backwards. It should be underneath the shuttle right? Anyways I totally agree that this Bruticus will be better IMO than UT's. UT's bots are better looking IMO than Zika's.

The connector coming out of the top of the shuttle is actually G1 accurate to both the toy (easy to see) and the toon (not so much). Most of the time in combined mode Blast Off is so deformed you can't be absolutely certain which way he is (the windshield even appears to go around like a ring), but I did find one screen shot showing it, plus his character model that the toon is supposed to be based on shows it. Whether you like it or not is a completely separate issue.

This is actually the 3rd time I've joined this same discussion on Take Off. I looked it up the first time which saved me time in the subsequent conversations.

Can't bring myself to buy these individually but I really hope they release a box set. In this toy's defense, it's not like his leg transformation is much worse (or much different) than many of the Fanstoys Dinobots. All that shit always gets in the way of itself. EDIT: kept watching, ok all those tabs look terrible.

This set so far has no excitement for me yet. Hopefully the combine mode will pan out.

the bot is ate up for sure, but the arm is S.O.L.I.D.
See I'm still not sold on the look of both combiners (UT and ZT) and TBH the UT bots look so much better in both modes, I do think I'll stick with them. Haven't bought any yet, still wait and see for the Bart, but I surely will make my decision after the next release(s) from both brands. And I take your word for granted about the combiner, I promise ;)

the thing I am having problems correlating is the fact that their Aerialbots (who are supposed to be kibbly as hell) look CLEANER than these guys...so its like they put conscious thought into making the Combaticons something they're NOT. is this some obscure comic book art model I am not familiar with? Cuz it seems like they purposely shot themselves in the foot here... Now, their Superion set looks fantabulous...I'm all down for those (never got TFC's, they suck and their toys suck) unless this is the beginning of the Superion Wars (Mania? Slam? think we need a new word...).

Excellent review fellow collector! I believe Zeta Toys kicked out a better product than if this would have kicked out from ToyWorld. YOU KNOW TOYWORLD WOULD HAVE LEFT THE LIGHT PIPING ......bastards LOL. Blast-Off feels great with materials and I believe there is diecast present. Solid unit awesome arm mode! YES YES......STRIKE ME DOWN WITH ALL YOUR HATE ZETA TOYS............MUWHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHA Bruticus will fall to the Darkside! Going to be an awesome Bruticus!
