RUclips is full of terrain makers rushing out half-assed builds to feed the algorithm. We need more people like you pushing the boundaries of the craft and trying for the best possible result.
I appreciate it! Pretty much what I do on the costuming side as well for my other channel. If I’m going to build it I’d rather do it right or at least build it how i want 👍
Let’s see your channel with your ideas my man. Don’t dis on creators 99% make zero dollars and spend their time trying to entertain you. The more TC out there the better.
I love watching creators that have experience in other areas (ie: prop making or scale modeling) do something in this hobby space. There are techniques and tools that cross over nicely.
Thanks! and yeah looking around the shop lately I see a lot of stuff I use on big props/costumes that should easily convert to new tricks for models and minis
I am not at all a tabletop gamer but I always find myself fascinated Warhammer painters and tabletop model makers. Just wanted to say the algorithm put me here and I am definitely subbing just for the pleasure of seeing the finished models. :D
@@SKSHobbyWorkshop Just wanna ask if you'd ever make a video of you and a friend playing some trench crusade on the board once everything's done? would be awesome to see it in action.
Holy snap, they look so realistic. You and your layers of paint. So many layers! But so well worth it. A Master Craftsman, indeed. Thanks for sharing with us, Steve!!!
Absolutely stellar video with great explanations, tips and tricks. I am currently building a trench system as well and will use a lot of techniques youre sharing here, thank you!! Keep up the great work!
This is looking fantastic, well done sir ⚡⚡⚡ - Suggestion, perhaps dremel out shallow pools on the base board to fill with level resin, to maintain the rained in wet look inside the trenches
Hello, love this whole project and I’ve ordered a bunch of materials because I’m going to try and copy your exact process because the results have been fantastic. I also love the quality of the tutorial as well as the cadence when you speak and the same looping music, makes me think of How It’s Made from Discovery Channel, very nostalgic. I had one question: I notice you use DISTILLED water in a few of your glue mixtures and I was wondering why that is? Is regular tap water not acceptable?
First off thanks!!! I use distilled water for a couple of reasons. Number one it’s better for brush bristles especially when you use natural hair brushes. Number two distilled water won’t have any additional additives that can be found in tap water and can make the product have issues. Especially products like sculptamold that is absorbing the moisture. And lastly our water here is pretty hard, so distilled water takes away that issue. I just buy a gallon every so often from Walmart
first thing, amazing board! I really want to make one like you did, but I had some questions. how come you use distilled water + IPA on the gravel/grout? wouldn't using a spray of glue + distilled do a better job of locking in that first layer?
Thanks! The IPA is what breaks the surface tension of the grout and stones. Then by adding the PVA glue and water after it seeps in much better. Otherwise the grout wants to absorb just a glue mixture in a way that can make it ball up or not fully saturate especially if it is a little thicker in areas. If this happens just the top surface can get a good soak and underneath can still be powder
Great video! Was wonder if I'm missing the templates for the trenches on your site. All I see is an image next to the video, unlike the pdfs of all your cosplay stuff. Is this a me problem? Keep up the great work!
I think it’s close, but a more bio friendly version. Doesn’t contain a lot of additives that might mess with other products being applied. And no fragrance which I like because others that smell stink up the shop and give me a headache. But you can find it at just about any hardware store
@SKSHobbyWorkshop ok I just wondered. I have whatever they call Future now, they changed it a long time ago. The smell has never bothered me and I have used it for clear effects in the past.
The spray bottle is just for the water/ipa. I use a dropper for the pva mix. I just keep them in large spray containers mixed but rarely spray it. The bottles I use are in the description though 👍
@@SKSHobbyWorkshop I had this same thought. Just be careful with doing that as I almost left the video since I thought I had already seen this video and just forgot the first part. I only say that because this is some of the best crafting content I've seen and your videos deserve every view and more!
really like the concrete part of this terrain - its a shame that trenches are implicit with trench crusade because man... a big pile of mud is just impossible to not be ugly. I think i'd make either a set of rolling hills with freshly dug trenches or have them be long abandoned and overgrown if i get into this system... or maybe just set it in the the desserts of the iron sultanate... anything to avoid the mud.
@SKSHobbyWorkshop excited to see it evolve! Like I say I think yours is one of the best so far out of the current surge in content creators tackling TC... Particularly like how you're leaning into the monumental aspect of the setting as opposed to the limitations of more grounded ww1

@ maybe 👍 I’ve got some local gaming buddies eager to test it out
This is the best Trench Crusade project on RUclips. I'm loving all the rich detail.
Glad you like the project! It’s getting there slowly but surely 🙌
What a great series this is turning out to be.
Some great tips, very old school tough and hard wearing terrain.
Thank you very much! And yeah I figured as long as I’m making them, might as well make them to last 👍
This is so incredible to watch come to life. Amazing as always, Steve!
Thanks so much!

I thought painting the individual stones might be a bit too much….but you know me Rex 😂🙌
This is so good! Now I just need to figure out where I'm going to store this terrain when I build it 😂
Luckily I’ve got a game room in my base where it will live 😂
I'm bookmarking this video! So many amazing techniques.
Thank you! More awesome tutorials on the way 👍
I was looking so much forward to this video....the wait is no long :D Well done.
Thanks! Glad you like it 🙌
The whole board system you are creating looks fantastic.

Great work and a great explanation with really interesting techniques! That gives so much inspiration! :)
Thank you, Glad you liked it!
Great video as always ✨✨
Thank you very much!
Awesome work

are those concrete pillars STL files? loving this project!
Yeah, they were part of a vampire package Titan Forge did several years ago. And thanks!!

Grout dust is toxic also, should wear a respirator if you can
@@matthewdavenport4030 that’s why I talk about wearing a respirator because of silica in the video..

First off thanks! there must have been an issue with the file I just reuploaded it and it should now be fine, Thanks for the heads up 👍
Quick Shine, is it basically clear acrylic floor polish like the old Future brand acrylic floor polish?
I think it’s close, but a more bio friendly version. Doesn’t contain a lot of additives that might mess with other products being applied. And no fragrance which I like because others that smell stink up the shop and give me a headache. But you can find it at just about any hardware store
@SKSHobbyWorkshop ok I just wondered. I have whatever they call Future now, they changed it a long time ago. The smell has never bothered me and I have used it for clear effects in the past.
Ok serious question: why the isopropyl alcohol?
IPA breaks the surface tension much better than water. That allows the water or pva glue to seep through the various materials
What brand is that entire friggan spool of barbed wire? I want to buy that!
Found it on Ali express as security wire 👍
What type of spraybottle are you using? I find that any amount of PVA i add removes the mist effect and makes it squirt in streams instead.
The spray bottle is just for the water/ipa. I use a dropper for the pva mix. I just keep them in large spray containers mixed but rarely spray it. The bottles I use are in the description though 👍
Might have missed it but where are the cannons files from?
They will be featured more in part 3 but also from diceverse on mmf same as the bunkers and cross
Link in the description 👍
@@SKSHobbyWorkshopThank you sir!
