Buy Infamous Iron Man right here! amzn.to/3qnDEyi
I always appreciate you posting links to buy the books when you can. Like, I know it’s something we could all Google for ourselves, but you never know, the couple seconds saved by putting a pinned link in front of a viewer might actually get a few people to buy a comic, and start the snowball rolling down the hill!
😊
i sense a sudden and abrupt resurgence in this episodes relevance
Finally. I told you Sal none are able to deny the word OF DOOM!!!
The Doombot is happy now. But now what is your purpose?
DOOOOOM
@@JLD22591 compel ComicPop to read Doom 2099, Book of Doom, or House of M: Fantastic Four.
I just realized u rlly got ur wish good job man
Homies probably sitting on his porch like thanos in infinity war
Who's here after the rdj reveal as doom!!?
I LOVE the concept of a heroic Doom but still with his ego. Really Doom just needs his own series period. Doom is one of the most interesting characters Marvel has because despite his evil, he does tend to be written with a twisted code of honor and usually with a genuine love for his country and his people. His mastery of magic is also underused quite often.
Check out later half of doom 2099. It's mixed good bad. Bit a fun read
"every character will become another character", ain't that the truth
"Out of all the stories I've read, this is definitely one of them."
I remember being so incensed by the last issue, I went to the r/comicpop to yell about Mephisto Jimfacing into the camera like it's The Office. Which is a bizarrely apropos parallel to make considering Mephisto also played Reed Richards.
Maker: Identity theft is not a joke, Mephisto!
Happy for Dr Doom here in the comments section. The fella has been asking for this for months.
Lol indeed
You would think he'd finally comment now after all this time 😂
Lol we all know why we’re back a year later.
Avengers Doomsday brought me here
All hail Doom, the greatest superhero of all time!
P.S. I'm definitely not a Doom Bot
Well saying you're not a Doom bot is definitely enough proof for me lol
This was on my explore page rn!!😂😂
The only thing that drags this series down for me was the cop out. After everything that happened in Secret Wars by Hickman, the villain should have been and stayed the Maker. The duality was perfect. Reed saved Doom also fixing his face, and then Evil Reed comes to ruin his life when he attempts to be good.
I am a huge Ultimate Reed/Maker fan. So when I was trying to read though his history, and I heard "there's a book where he is a petty central antagonist to 616 Doom" I quickly jumped on that.
My disappointment was immeasurable.
Ah, but was your day ruined?
Do you like Hickman new book?
@@JosephRockford Ultimate Invasion? Or something else? Because Ultimate Invasion doesn't start until next week. Super excited though!
@@thedukeofchutney468 Alas it was indeed.
I would've loved a Doom series with the premise "I'm not only going to become a hero, I'm going to become the BEST hero" and have him focus on past Fantastic Four villains. Have it explore Doom's continued opssession with Reed even after everything with Secret Wars
I feel like with Bendis you can so easily tell when he is excited about a book and when he was bored and done. With this it just happened alot sooner then expected
True, but also he was writing so many books at Marvel around this time. Ironically most of the ones he wasn't writing were good.
Ahh yes, Iron Man episodes on Back Issues are the hidden gems I always am happy to get!
I loved this run so much. Doom just running around putting everyone in their place, was amusing... (Up til agreed the ending ruins it) But until then! There's some fun to be had with Doom as a "Hero".
This is a Prophecy for me
@1:03:48 Tiffany has reached MAXIMUM levels of “I ….CAN. NOT!” . lol😂
"A Story from beginning to end" Should be slapped on the front of every single comic ever.
That slow zoom on Tiffany's expression at 1:05:00 as Sal explains the mess that's going on is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while
He's here!!!!!!
6:45 Always appreciate a good Army of Darkness reference.
I wonder if Riri was partly invented just to get to that magic future Iron man idea.
Tiffany’s face throughout this video 😂😂😂 I feel for her.
I love the subtle cuts and zoom ins that emphasize the funny moments. It always makes me laugh.
"what's he gonna do with that Doom baby?" made my week.
10:17 I feel like Ethan rarely says any swears beyond “Damn” and “Hell” or I could be misremembering but either way this was just hilarious to me 😭
Say what you will, I actually like Doctor Doom's "Iron Man" design. Don't know why, it just worked!
A hilarious episode. And btw, that ending with the quotes is your best ending to an episode ever. Laughed my ass off.
Yes! Finally getting into this run, which I think was a interesting turn for him. I am sad it didn't really last long.
“A story, from beginning to end” is amazing
me @ 11:26pm about to head to bed: "Well I should see what ComicPop did for this week's back issues. DOOM! Looks like sleep is going to have to wait."
I remember reading this when it came out. Personally, I think they should have committed to Doom's post-Secret Wars/Bendis characterization. I was sad when they reverted him to his more over the top persona.
Ya know, now that they’ve done this, I kinda want them to do Doom 2099. Like even start the video with “we had a time with infamous iron man now for a good Dr.Doom comic”
I would very much like to see a more regular segment where you guys are coming up with cover quotes. That was hilarious.
16:20 Sal is especially salty this episode. I like it XD
Comic pop quotes need to be a recurring thing 😂
That slow close up on Tiffany near the end was HILARIOUS!!!!!
I can't believe I almost bought these books years ago. Thank freakin' goodness I DIDN'T. 🙃
The maleev/Hollingsworth combo is straight cream in the pants eyes melting out of your head type of time
I remember when the last issue came out and watching you guys embodying myself and the rest of the Infamous Ironman readers in face palming that last issue. Great episode guys
I will say most of All New All DIfferent and Marvel Now I didnt read. However there was a decent bit I did enjoy. Jeff Lumires Thanos and Logan were great, Ultimates and Ultimates squared and Infamous Iron Man were amazing. Then uncanny avengers, Captain AMerica and Zub's Thunderbolts (with Bucky) were also must reads for me. I got on the Thor train a little late but then I watched and absoloutley loved it as well with all the Jason Aaron stuff. Then secret empire happened and almost of all of these titles were up ended or destroyed. lol
Yep! This series was so amazing until the dumb reveal, that was trying to pay off something that happened decades prior. Still one of my favorite series from the mid 2010s. Alex Maleev kills as always.
It was an odd era for Marvel.
I liked Uncanny abd Guardians…
I don’t remember reading much else however
@@crazysnas181 the all new all different era directly after Secret Wars was a very boring era. That’s the era that lead up to Civil War II. I don’t remember the “all new all different Marvel Now” era. I just know that era had Secret Empire in it. Marvel got a lot better after Alonso was fired and Legacy started with Cates on Venom, Ewing on Immortal Hulk, etc.
Entirely Disappointing Tiff that was perfect!
Not only did Dan Slott just return Doom to normal, but He did so, after like a few years of infamous iron man. Its like the perfect venn diagram of not wanting to come up with an interesting idea.
the non-interesting idea of doom being bad or doom being a hero?
@John Thai Reverting him back to being a malding dictator post god-doom and after they use that story to justify a pretty profound change of heart for the character. I may just be salty cause it's not the only time in that run that Slott just decides he doesn't have to play ball with everyone else.
@@barrybusan1294 lets face it most marvel writers decide not to play ball and its part of why so many books suck now
The funniest part was that Slott asked Bendis to fuck up Doom’s face again before Bendis left for DC so that Slott wouldn’t have to do it in F4 when bringing Sue and Reed back. So in Iron Man #600 Bendis makes sure to end the battle with the Hood by having him burn Doom’s face off. One could really tell how little Bendis cared about that book on his way out while in the hospital dealing with an almost deadly infection. All his energy instead went to Miles’ final issue and making sure that Marvel got into talks with new writers for Miles and Jessica Jones that would carry on the torch(which they did until Marvel cancelled Jessica Jones within like 12 issues IIRC).
@YouCalledForTheDoc thats was the most disappointing part of it for me. Doom, a wizard near Strange's level, not only can't fix himself via magic or science but also holds his face in higher regard than losing infinite power to hubris. I just realized im venting opinions i formed in like 2018
Given Dooms choice of attire, that is a well-SUITED title for him, WHELD done on picking such an IRONic title
21:55 Therapist of Doom! There's the title, you can have that one for free.
F4 in a different MCU: I would have LOVED to see Adam Driver as Dr. Victor von Doom, Michael Fassbender (or Martin Freeman?) as Reed Richards, Emily Blunt as Sue Storm, Zac Efron as Johnny Storm and Michael B. Jordan as Ben Grimm. Perhaps introduce some side characters as well? I wouldn't mind at all if Elliot Page was up to play Alex Masters, the blind artist and on/off partner of The Thing. Jason Momoa would be a fun "amalgam" kind of choice for Namor as well. Heck - throw Danny DeVito in the mix as Mole Man and I'd sell my own mother to get a ticket to that screening!
ALSO: James McAvoy as The Silver Surfer and Bryan Cranston as Galactus?
Sorry for using the comment section as a notepad, but - that's a solid cast ;P
The next comic pop t-shirt. "You need to spill the blood of this rabbit and make a thing and we'll do a stuff."
Friendly reminder the ending happened because Dan slott wanted to use dr doom in his run, because of course he did.
I was not ready for a freaking "Rock Lobster" reference 😂
in the search for Tony stark arc which is the next arc after this, bendis does reset doom back to basics by having the hood burn his face.
I laughed a little too hard at the rock lobster joke
The quotes at the end had me dying 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I loved this story. I like to root for Doctor Doom and if he's a good guy, he gets to win more often.
You guys told the future or Marvel has been watching this channel.
*Fiege & Marvel Shareholders got desperate
I know this day would come. Love this series.
This was the first series that taught me comics can hurt me just as bad as the toxic relationships in my life 💀
This is one of my favorite Bendis book. I wish he would have done more like this during his later career at Marvel
its about time you guys did this! i have the legends figure and all of the issues. this was the thing that brought be back into comics after Siege/House of M/ OG civil war/ Secret invasion
38:39 Doom does not "stroke off"
I've never heard of this. That's usually how I can tell it's gonna be a good episode.
Y'all just broke Tiffany at the end
This one of my favorite episodes you guys have done. I adore it.
This was way all over the place than i expected, lol
1:13:26 🤣🤣 Those ComicPOP review quotes at the end are hilarious🤣🤣 👍
I did like this series until the copout at the end, but I did love that his characterization continued in Zdarsky's Marvel Two in One series with the Human Torch and The Thing. Lmao Diablo is one of my favourite FF villains. Also 12:01 Zdarsky in Marvel Two in One, retconned it where at the end of Secret Wars Reed basically took away from the Doom the want for power or ultimate power and thought Richards was dead, hence why he is helping Ben and Johnny looking for Reed in that series.
I remember when this was coming out, right near the end of Bendis tenure at Marvel. I’ll give it this, Alex Maleevs art is fantastic!
Man I remember reading this as it was coming out and might have been the only thing from marvel at the time I enjoyed! Great (kinda) little run!
Ethan, I think there might be a conflict of interest if you put Magneto and Red Skull into the same room and told them to work together
Cool to see what I assume is Issue 1 of this book in the background nice touch! after watching this the zoom in at tiff at the end is so funny I love how much she hated the end also I want more cover quotes whenever you guys come up with your own I loved seeing them edited on the cover
hmm, I wonder if this will ever become relevant in the mcu
I love the look of infamous iron man
Sal bringing up Animal Man makes me want an episode on Morrison’s run
Great Episode.
And yeah axe of vengeance would be good to see one day
Got here within 5 minutes! The best part of my Wednesdays!
This was the first comic I ever bought. I was lost but I had fun
We got a "What're ya gonna do with that Doom baby?"
DOOM! Now with professional courtesy
@1:05:06 Tiffany BREAKS ALL LIMITS!!
It’s funny because I actually really dug the All New All Different era of books, including Infamous Iron Man which was way better than I ever expected. Especially post Secret Wars.
Also gave us another banger Daredevil costume, fuckin love the black and red
Just popping by after the RDJ reveal
Sals, feels about the Hood, are my feels about Jason Aaron and Orb.
Been waiting for you guys to do this one!
I remember a moment in Gwen Poole when she breaks past the panels and Iron Man Doom chases her and tries to reason with her, to which she remarks something like "Oh great that's right, this is the status quo you're in now." haha
This was the last monthly I picked up from Marvel. So much potential squandered in the end. I suppose they could always bring Doom baby back by saying she lied, or multiverse Iron Doom back into existence, and maybe fulfill the promise of him meeting and fighting the Maker. I’ll keep dreaming.
I remember when this was coming out and I was in love with the covers
52:29-yes, we got a Morty Fleischman reference!
I actually liked the idea of Doom being more heroic, it was one of the few new changes that I liked. Especially since Doom was one of the few people who retained memories of Battle World and the 2015 secret Wars. I found myself trying to resist liking it because I knew the status quo would eventually return and was saddly proven correct.
Yes. Been hoping for this
This was a fantastic episode 😂
Does this tie with Gwenpool? I remember she tried to defeat Doom for her reputation, then being dissapointed that he was currently a good guy.
Yes it does!
Watching Bendis slowly deteriorate as a writer during this era of Marvel was depressing. I straight up got embarrassed of recommending books of his to some of my friends cause they all hated this and Civil War 2. Don’t even get me started on Bendis’ run on Guardians of the Galaxy.
“Yes you were you stretchy man” needs to be a shirt
1:09:20 I don't think you've done animal man yet, have you? That could be fun
One of my favorite runs
Victor Vibe Doom. “DOOM VIIIIIIIBE!”
"A book with words and pictures"
I want to see a Marty Fleishman, Sorcerer Supreme
Oooooooooo! Interesting. One of the first books released right after the events of secret wars. I remember this was pretty solid or at the very least interesting.
Great episode
