I wasn’t expecting it but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this product, nothing too flimsy about it. 48 years old and going strong...LoL
Thanks for watching Andy! I appreciate the kind words!

We had this when it was new .... don't push the LP's back too hard. First thing that broke were the 2 back supports. It also doesn't support double albums. The slot is only designed for single LP's and it does eventually cause wear to the part of the album that's wedged in that slot to hold it in place. They make a nice displayer for your old K-Tel albums though.
    Signed,
    Peace, Love and Bobby Sherman😂

Thanks for the memories. The flipping part was cool. Also, I learned not to put this thing on my desk because the albums sometimes would start to flip forward really fast, and the inertia would cause the selector and albums to tumble to the floor. The main thing that bugged me, though -- those plastic clips left little square marks/scrapes on the bottoms of my album covers. I liked to keep my album covers in nice shape, so that made me stop using this .

Heyyyyy Jeff. So glad i dug back a bit into my subs vids to find a recent upload from you. Amazing unboxing....The 70s is such a nostalgic decade . Interesting that Ktel was popular south of the border as it started in Winnipeg and i thought it was only a thing here. I thought Ronco would have produced such a kitschy item stateside which im sure they had there own version of .The comps are classic...is that every ktel comp you have?? i have a few, especially the heavy metal ktel comps full of standard 80s metal fare. Amazing production. hope u are keeping well.

      Hey brother Lee!
I’m very happy you dug back a little as well ! It’s always great when I get a chance to speak to you! I know we’ve talked about K-Tel before a few years ago when I showed my collection either in the vinyl or cassette video. Agreed! It definitely doesn’t get much better than the 70’s when it comes to music, gadgets and music gear. Both K-tel and Ronco were huge around here and I always bought them when I could afford it. A paper route didn’t pay much back then but enough to buy great music records and compilations albums really was a no brainer ...22 original hits by the original stars for only 3.99 ...LoL.
That was only about 2/3rds of what in K-Tel / Ronco I have but the selector only holds 24 single albums and no spots for double albums. Thanks so much for watching buddy I appreciate your awesome comment once again! My wife and I are both doing well, thanks for asking and hopefully you are doing the same!
      Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
Take care and thanks for the very kind words! CHEERS!!! ~ Jeff

Merry Christmas to you Jeff. Brilliant. A K-Tel product that works. We used to have adverts for various K-Tel products in the 70s too. Some were fine, but most were trash and didn't always do what K-Tel claimed. I only had one K-Tel record which was The Best of Bowie from November 1980. A brilliant album. Frank from Channel 33 on RUclips mentioned this selector a few months agoand stated that K-Tel no longer occupy the building in Winnipeg Canada as there is some other company there now.

Always such a great pleasure hearing from you my friend! I’m mostly familiar with my albums from K-tel and only one or two other items from them that I owned but seems like they had hundreds of different products. I also remember Frank telling me in one of my other K-tel videos that they were based in Canada at one point. Best Of Bowie, hmmm ... how could you go wrong with that album!
Thanks so much for watching and your usual awesome comment which I always appreciate!

Good evening Jeff. Happy Friday evening. The K-Tel Record Selector. Now at the time that was a solid invention. It was clever the way that they designed it to give you plenty of room in between each album as the owner is flipping through them. I do remember having one of these. Now was it hard for you to load the albums in each one of the slots?
Jeff I really enjoyed this one. Seeing vinyl related products from the seventies is always the best. It takes me back to when the world was still young and a lot less angry. Fantastic idea and I appreciate you showing it. K-Tel Rules!~

      Hey, Hey Rob!
Good morning buddy! I definitely agree with you, at the time it was way ahead of the times...SPACE AGE in one of its claims. Back then it was always so cleaver of people to come up with ways to make items and toys moving without having motors, batteries and electricity to move all under its own power. I think that is why to this day I enjoy taking things apart to repair or just plain see how the heck they work and operate. The 70’s were the best for me as well but not only because of the great music and music related items but because it’s full of memories when my the whole family(7 of us) lived under one roof and spent holidays together without traveling or like now not having them around anymore. A lot of cool things came out as time went on allowing us to do and meet new amazing people (like yourself ) with the click of a button but they could never outshine doing it the way it was done back in the day!
Thanks so much for watching once again and commenting...always a great pleasure for me hearing from you, looking forward to catching up over the holidays with you my good friend! !!!

I asked my mother to get me one for Christmas back in 1972 or thereabouts. Several years ago, I gave it to my eldest son with one of the 'feet' missing. I also gave him along with it the 20 Explosive Hits album WITH an add for the record selector on the back cover. I have seven of the original albums when they were on the 'Syndicate Products' label. They were K-Tel after the Heavy Hits album, I think. Lots of good memories from way back then like the time my friend asked me to lend him my 24 Power Hits album for a party he didn't invite me to. When I got it back it looked like he had been playing frisby with it in a gravel pit! Yes, good memories.

@@JefferyRusnock Sooner than you think! Now, I'm like Foghorn Leghorn; I know when to shut my mouth but I just had to add this and I might as well add that while I am at it. I won't bother you any more after this. There is a song on that 24 Power Hits album that I fell in love with. It is Sugar & Spice - Cruel War. It's the best version I've ever heard and it can be found here on RUclips. Also, not all the songs skipped after the loanage but when Baby Let's Wait by The Royal Guardsmen skipped many times, that was the last straw. I had never heard that song before I got the album and I loved it so much, I purchased the 45 online. Like I said, I do know when to stop; just leave a like if you like.

      Hey NammaN!
I remember wanting one of these for as long as I can remember, most likely around 14 years of age when I had several albums at the start of the collection and thought how cool would that be... I was hooked. The price of them keeps going up and new ones are obscene in price (like this one was) but I don’t like buying used plastic things from that long ago and finding broken parts falling out of the packaging...LoL! That was the commercial I used when basing my video reenactment commercial on at the end of the video, I didn’t realize how many different angle shots were actually in that commercial until I started planning out the video.
Thanks once again buddy for watching, glad you were able to drop in and reminisce about our childhood for a few minutes, always such a blast!

@@JefferyRusnock Wow, you are right; these things on ebay are going for obscene price. I guess 'collecting' in a vinyl universe could be just as crazy as any other collecting universes. I really don't like how I am storing the records and my cave is running out of room. 😟 I would like my next project to be redoing my basement so it would more 'collector' friendly. However, with travelling back and forth between OKC and NOVA, it will be difficult to start. BTW, that was pretty cool way to learn videography; reenactment of old and iconic commercials. Maybe I will do one too. I am sure I will talk to you more before Christmas but just incase, you and yours have Great Christmas also. Be safe and take care.

Hey NammaN, a two for video ...how lucky am I? Glad to see a part two of your comment, I mentioned that they can go for quite a pretty penny especially since they only cost 3.99 back in 1972 when they were introduced. However if you convert the cost and time I think that cost around $23.00 which was a pretty large sum for some plastic moving parts that probably only cost pennies to manufacture. The used ones are somewhat reasonable but I definitely wanted unused but it came at a higher price tag... but that’s okay. So your thinking of redoing the cave are you, that would be a terrific future project and something to capture in before and after picks. Hard to believe that you are already running tight on space for your lp’s, you’ve become quite the record collector in the VC and as a personal goal for yourself as a collector in general! I would love to see you do a reenactment commercial or anything really, with your skills in computer and editing it would be quite the buzz on RUclips to say the least... I only use my iPad to do everything on it...LoL! Anything in mind to do? or still deciding?
Take care and I’ll definitely be talking to you before Christmas, but never too early for season greetings .....Merry Christmas to you and your family! ~ Jeff
