As you discovered during your six and a half minute video, it's exactly the opposite of how you initially describe it. If you set Selfie Flip to ON, the camera records you as you would see yourself in the mirror. If you set Selfie Flip to OFF, the camera will record you as you are seen by others. Since we generally don't make selfie videos for ourselves, but for others, it's clear that it's about how others see us. How we see ourselves in the mirror is of no interest to others. So the Selfie Flip OFF setting makes the most sense. It's no coincidence that this is the default setting.
Think of it as mirror mode, turn it on and it’s the mirror view.
