Platform 3 just ticks all the boxes for me, especially in a morning, which is when I often visit. Platform 2 is occasionally used by EMR trains to/from Lincoln, and as a headshunt for releasing locos that have stabled in the old carriage sidings. All terminating services from the south approach from the Down side, even the ones from Lincoln, so using Platform 2 would cause a conflicting move across the fast lines, I assume that's why they try not to use it.
