Good list but none on it are what I might keep but I appreciate your thoughts on the. Currently there is no book out there that I want. And for what I am glad I have? Super Sized Super Silly, The Book, Magic Tales (1&2), The Giant Illustrated Book of Magic Tricks, Calculated Thoughts, Mathematics, Magic & Mystery and (for sentimental reasons) Dunninger's Encyclopedia of Magic. Another Great Post. Thanks for all of your work :)
I love this show! All about cool magic books. I got my Berglas book from Don. I got a good deal because it came from the collection of the sticker guy. It is full of stickers on the inside cover. I love it. It’s an homage to the original owner. Thanks, Don’s Magic and Books! I’m loving the newsletter! Thank you, Jeff!
You can see Derren's changes over time. When he was doing that weekly show on Channel 4, he was good, but he was just a workaday magician/mentalist. It was really through doing his specials that he managed to find that distinctive voice. That said, he's obviously a really gifted guy in a load of different ways. He was bound to develop into something great. I've read that first Berglas book. It's a good read, but he doesn't tip his ACAAN -- which was why I really wanted to read it.
Glad I have: - Apocalypse - Forte's GSOH - Steel and Silver by Gertner - The Magic of Michael Ammar - The Card Magic of Nick Trost Wish I had: - Best of Friends vol 3 - Steve Beam's Semi-Auto set - Annotated Slydini - Classic Collection vol 1 - Neat Review vol 1 Thanks for the review!
@@EruditeMagic Thanks! Steve Beam's set is just about the money haha. For the others on the wish list: Neat vol 1 is rumored to be reprinted soon, but the others aren't likely to be reprinted, and I've only seen them used a few times. In all cases I've been too late. People know how good they are. BoF 3 is popular partially because Greg Wilson was involved so heavily. Classic Col 1 is arguably all of HL's best work in one place, and Annotated Slydini is probably the best Slydini book if you're only going to have one. Oh well, hopefully I find them eventually.
As always, a great review. I am fortunate in that I have 4 out of 5 of the books (or sets) on both lists. The missing ones are Simply Harkey and The Classic Collection, Vol. 1. I do occasionally look for the Lorayne book, but the few copies I've found I think are overpriced. Anyway, keep up your wonderful reviews.
top regrets - Absolute magic and Pure effect (because I sold them about 10 years ago!) - the Mind and Magic of David Berglas - The Protocol of the Elder of Magic by Max Maven - Andy Nyman Bulletproof
Wish I had ALL the Lorayne Apocalypse books( got the red one)and anything and everything else this legend printed.( praying they get reprinted or some get reprinted at least).Just got the Sankey books(trilogy)and so glad I have.( Great books). The Bannon book you mentioned I would luv. Also Lorayne collections.Actually I wouldn’t mind all the mentalism books too!Like your list ❤.Great work, thanks.
Not only is your first list identical to mine (minus the Johnny Thompson books I now own) but I predicted 4 out of the 5 of the books you own. I did not predict the Bannon book instead I predicted the Essential Vernon. Have you read Orion? That's one that was spendy but because of how much I got out of it, it's a great value.
Ha, that's cool, Dusty! The Bannon book will always be special to me, so a bit of a surprise. I figured that some people would think What Lies Inside would be on my list as well (it was an honorable mention in my mind). Did you pay out the nose for the Thompson books, or did you get them back when they were offered?
@@EruditeMagic I paid out the nose for it. But about 1/3 less than it's been going for. It's the only book I bought to read with plans to sell eventually.
Looks like my comment was removed, I assume because I had an external link in it (my bad). I just wanted to share that Classic Collection Vol 1 is being reprinted! Also, I'm surprised you didn't have the Card Magic of Nick Trost on your list of OOP treasures. Although, from what I hear, this one is also being reprinted!

You bet, thanks for watching!
I have the Simply Harky book. Now I’ll have to revisit it.
Rub it in! 😜 JK. Once you've revisited it, you'll have to come back with your thoughts

@@EruditeMagicyour show is the highlight of my Sundays. Thanks!
The "sticker guy" sure had some interesting ways to mark his books. But by doing so, it has made them more affordable to us mere mortals.
@@donunicycleabsolutely! Thanks.

Do you have the Kaufman book?

@mathmusicstructure I hope you get them, too!
I'm really looking forward to The Art5 of Mentalism by Cassidy, and glad it's getting reprinted. So much useful material in there.
💯👍

Thanks, Doug! Don't know if you saw the comment, but one of the viewers claims Classic Collection 1 is about to be reprinted 👍

Very kind of you to say so! 💙 No, no video on ECT, but it has some fantastic technique

good news, today Drew Backenstoss confirmed to me that his book Architect of the Mind will be reprinted in 2024!!!
Cool! Maybe I'll finally get a chance to check it out 👍
I found it quite interesting to read! Sad to know it's being reprinted and that more people will have a chance to read it haha 😜
😂 that's the spirit 🤣
Great lists of books. But are there any books that you have that were let downs, failed to live up to what you wanted in a book???👍👍😊👏😊
For sure, but that's a story for another day. What about you, Robert?

🤣🤣🤣 it's there to practice the trick. But yes, I'm so rich I can use $1 bills as bookmarks 💪😂
