    I love the "girl power" shows involving goddesses. Very interesting stories of a culture you are helping keep alive. Thanks Dr. Bitto.

    Based on what a Yaqui historian teacher said. What Dr. Bitto refers as a stick coming out of the ground, the Yaqui historian teacher said it was a talkable tree who tried to communicate with the Suram people when they passed near the tree. Since they couldn't understand what the tree was trying to say, the suram people went and looked for the lady who Dr. Bitto refers as a Goddess. Based on what the Yaqui historian teacher said. This lady was very profund with nature. She wasn't Yaqui. She translated what the tree was trying to communicate to the Suram people about a people from far away lands was going to change their way of living.

    No not more AI art.. the Yaqui people have a distinct headdress with a skull of a deer and antlers that looks totally unique in the southwest. That’s what you lose with Ai. Authenticity. Love the research but the “art” has to go

      There was an AI generated pic of a deer dancer headdress that I didn't use. That headpiece is only worn on rare occasion and not for the everyday. AI art is here to stay. I will use it when I need to.

      @@tracytwymandiedforyoursins2343 he is trying to portray a distinct American Indian tribe of which there are over 570, we live in an age where we have the benefit of looking up information or sourcing an artist. Being uncreative is no longer an option, and AI is simply LAZING out, stealing the art of other artists, and does nothing to make the arts or the history he is trying to tell authentic. I KNOW actual Yaqui people I went to school with them at Arizona State which is down the road from Guadalupe. It is SAD how they are nearly extinct and so called academics cant be bothered to depict them respectfully! for Christs sakes!

    The picture of the five individuals standing together depicts Yoreme (Mayo) individuals, not Yoeme. The Mayos wear all white and cover their chests, distinguishing them from the Yoeme. Regarding the art and images used in the videos, two points need consideration: 1. Ensure references and clarification are provided. 2. AI art, while a tool for expanding creativity, should be approached cautiously, especially concerning sacred items like Maaso Koba, to avoid generalizations that may perpetuate racist and monolithic views of indigenous people.

    • @mexicounexplained
      @mexicounexplained  Год назад +3

      The picture of the 5 people wearing white is from Getty Images, so I suggest you contact them directly to make any supposed corrections. As to the other points, well, you haven't established your authority to make these statements, although the language you use is very "academic." I heard the white shirts thing once before (maybe from you) and early photos just don't support that claim. To wrap up, I did my absolute best with this show given the time and financial constraints I am under. I will continue doing what I am doing. I look forward to other people making similar videos, but I just don't see them out there, and I've been waiting almost 8 years. I wonder why that is?

    please don’t use AI “art”. it is very disrespectful towards the culture to use AI to depict them. you should know as well as anyone that these are real people with real pictures and real depictions of them. it is disrespectful to wash away their existence by supplementing them with a computer generated image of them. please do better and continue to serve the communities you cover and give them the proper respect that they deserve.

      I'm not offended at all, I was just stating what I believe in light of your opinion. The fact that I have so many shows about indigenous issues found NOWHERE ELSE shows the deep respect I have for other cultures, so that is not in doubt and shouldn't even be questioned. You sound like you are reciting leftist talking points learned in an academic setting. You should be asking where those ideas are coming from. I'm sure if I showed the AI images to actual Yaqui people, their response would be, "Hey, cool!" I've been involved with indigenous communities enough over the past 25 years to know what's really up. They really don't care, or even understand, this strange academic way of looking at the world. It certainly isn't coming from them. You should go down there and see for yourself. Be better.

    • @ALLDAYY23
      @ALLDAYY23 3 месяца назад

      @@mexicounexplained with all due respect, you are not the only channel that covers indigenous issues. yes there are you few, but you are not the only one. and the fact that you are bringing politics into a discussion about respecting cultures is very odd. you should do more to look into why you are jumping onto politics instead of trying to project that onto me. another thing is the key of you saying the Yoeme wouldn’t understand the AI if you showed them goes to show that it is pretty exploitative. i bet if you asked them if they would rather be represented by their own people or by something that isn’t them, i’m sure they would want their own people to represent them. i’m sorry that you think uplifting cultures by giving them actual representation is an academic way of looking at the world, maybe you should look more into yourself and why you think that way. but sure continue to use amalgamations of images captured from all over the internet generated into an artificial image instead of using all actual images of people from the culture. oh yea by the way, my grandfather is Yoeme.

    • @mexicounexplained
      @mexicounexplained  3 месяца назад

      Enough is enough already. You're not even understanding what I am saying. Politics does play a role here because what you are saying is coming directly from leftist academia and not from the indigenous people themselves. Your attempt to impose this way of thinking on me as a sort of proxy for what you think they want is coming from a "colonizer mentality" (I love using the appropriate terms). You don't speak for them. Like I said, I have lots of experience down in Mexico with various indigenous groups and you don't. I know what's up. This sort of stuff doesn't even matter to them. You're coming from a place of privilege thinking you know what's best for them. Again, that's part of the "colonizer mentality" and quite patronizing. You're utterly clueless about the needs and wishes of these people. This is all I am going to say. Save yourself the typing because I'm not coming back here.
