I have the RSP1A. The first thing I did, was to wrap the plastic case in aluminium foil.
The 1B version with the steel case has some other improvements, but that shielding foil was "good enough" for me.

Dave, Excellent video. I am a newbie shortwave radio listener in the past couple months and recently obtained the SDRplay radio unit RSPdx for use on my Mac laptop and iMac using the SDRconnect software. I really like its operation. I am using two antennas, an MLA-30+ loop antenna and an end-fed 45-foot sloper (from DX Engineerging). I also have a Tecsun PL-990 portable shortwave radio. I live in a narrow valley along the coast of California halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, so the number of stations I pick up are limited, but I did manage to pick up Radio New Zealand last night. Thank you for the informative video. 👍

i use SDR++ on my MacBook Air (m1) connected to a Nooelec RTL with Ham it Up, and work great.. also the display SDR++ is better than SDR Connect..

Good advise for a receiver, I use a Rsp1a for two years now, it's a fantastic receiver! But if I would buy a newer version, it would be the DX or the Duo, for the 2 antenna ports they have, I don't believe the loop will do very well on 2 meters and 70cm (or higher)

I've the rsp2 (discontinued) for bout 6 years, and love it. I still dont understand all the features as the learning curve is steep. I wont give mine up.

I have a mixture of SDRPlay receivers - a couple of RSPduo devices, a RSPdx and an old RSP2. I use a MacBook Pro with a combination of SDRConnect on macOS and SDRUno under Parallels Desktop running on macOS. The choice of s/w platform really depends on my mood as I am very familiar with SDRuno and like it even though it is only Windows based. SDRConnect is a little easier to bring up. Overall, I can't recommend SDRPlay radios highly enough!

I am not sure if it will work especially after apple has changed to using their own CPUs but there is virilization software available that allows you to run windows software on your mac. The one I like the best is VM ware Fusion and the other is Parallels, you will need a licensed copy of the windows OS but once installed you can load and run just about any windows software at near native speed. This is because is because they are hypervisors that exposes the actual hardware to windows ie it is not an emulation but since apple no longer uses intel CPUs your mileage my vary unless you have an older MAC then you should be golden. I would be interested if anyone has tried this and on what CPU architecture from apple.
