Dad gets huge surprise for 60th birthday

- My dad hadn't seen his best friend in 7 years
So we got him good for his 60th!! In the video he sits on his couch and watches a video filmed by his best friend Ben. Then at the end of the video he gets a hug from behind and thinks it's his son but too his surprise it's his best friend Ben!
Thank you everyone for the nice comments. It was truly a surprise that I will never forget. My Daughter for the video, the wife for flying in Ben and Michele. I had no idea at all. And the folks and family that showed up to boot....and to the neighbors who cooked and put up deco..... it was the best birthday a dad could ever have. I am blessed beyond belief.

From the way he was surrounded by so many of his children, in-laws, and grandchildren, he must be doing something right as a father and granddad all these years. Must be quite a guy. Family is important, so are friends who have positive influences on your growth.

This video brought tears to my eyes. I'm about to turn 62 next month and lost my 27 year old son a little over 10 yrs ago from an aortic dissection. The bond between a son and father is one that I miss so much.

This breaks my heart. My Dad lost his brother to cancer 3 years ago. He was my favourite uncle. He was a respected member of the Canadian RCMP. R.I.P. Uncle Rolly.

Thats crazy because my dads brother lost his battle with cancer 5 years ago, and my uncle was like a 2nd father too me. His name was also rolly.

I'm 35 now, lost my best friend of 18 years 3 years ago. I thought we would make it to be like these guys and I know I'll never have another friendship so strong. Not that I've given up but it crushed me. His most recent FB and cover photo was from my porch, the day after he said if something happened to me he'd lose it. Gone the following Friday of Mother's Day weekend. He had lost his mom several years before, always loved and respected mine and she was devastated to hear he died. Let people know how you feel as often as you can! You never know when it could end, or keep them from harming themselves. Depression is no joke.

Feel your pain. Friends like that aren't easy to come by. Especially as we get older and/or move away. Can be lonely sometimes. I'm lonely a lot more than I anticipated being in this life. I'm thinking of you though man and I hope you are doing alright.
Lost dad nearly 5 years ago...im 56 and always argued with him until the last few years but miss him so much...always spend as much QUALITY TIME with your parents as you can !!!!!
My father went to be with god in 2018. When i came back home i always surprised him. The happiness and joy on his face i cherish it everyday. Love ur parents while they are they with you. Trust me it ll be a very strong supporting pillar for the rest of ur life !

I wish more than anything in the world that I could hug my Dad again. Lost him two years ago at the age of 57. I'd give ten years of my life to get ten minutes with him again.
I’m very sorry for your loss. I hope you find peace and comfort. My heart goes out. I lost my daddy 2 weeks ago and had no idea how bad it was going to hurt. He took a part of me with him.

when my father had a heart attack, i was barely 18 at that time. the police helped him to get admitted to hospital within time but he was in a very severe situation. the doctor said that he was not sure if he would live or not. i was so scared when we recieved a call from the hospital. i prayed to the god and asked him to give my father more years to live and that he could take it from my life time. i beleive it worked as at present my father is as fit as fiddle and i am very grateful to the god for it!

I recently heard a guy praising his brothers generosity and kindness to others . He said that his brothers actions bestowed the same empathy towards other people in his own life . Brother 1 never knew that I was friends with Brother 2 . I told Brother 2 about what I had heard and said that I had never heard a more impactful character reference that the kindness showed towards each other . These two were in the sawmill business and were not pushovers by any stretch .
You guys just modelled the most amazing thing for your kids and grandkids . It’s not weak to love each other ! The next generation in your house will do just fine . I have a brother too but you just showed me what’s missing , merry Christmas! It’s Christmas Eve in two days at the time I’m writing this . Peace .

My family orchestrated the same situation for me on my 50th birthday in 2012 with my best friend since kindergarten in 1967. Whom I only am able to see a couple of times each year. Our birthdays are just a few days apart. With our 60th just a few months away. My best friend was taken by a distracted driver two weeks ago. The sense of loss is indescribable. My point is to help your dad make as many of these moments happen as often as he can. Because he will never know when the last meeting will happen. Hopefully they will have many more quality years left together.
Male friendship can be so beautiful and stoic. Loved this.
