I'm a stone sculptor and I have a great respect for wood carvers. They produce beautiful work. Cut one tree down and plant three saplings in it's place. Over generations you'll have so much wood you will be exporting finished wooden products worldwide sustainably.
I have to visit that place in Laguna. 👍 I have been carving hard wood (oak) only till now. Recently,I tried my chisel on mango wood and went all "wow!" so easy to carve!!! I kinda fell in love with that wood. 😅
Are you planting more trees so the next generation can keep the art? This needs to be sustainable kung hindi talagang mawawala. Plastic na lang galing China.
Plant the gumbo limbo tree. They grow quickly are good in tropical climates, like sandy soils, and root quickly here in Florida & South America's. Another good wood is West African mahogany.
Why not introduce sustainable material like processed wood. Processed cauayan/bamboo that's been cut to shape and then pressed to lumber. Why not non traditional soft material like epoxy acrylic and not Stone
Alam ba nya sinasabi nya? The priest asked the wood carver the name of the carving instrument. The Filipino carver said paete. So the priest paete is the name of the town, so he called it paete.

Wow

Why force them to only speak in english. they might've expressed themselves better in their native tounge and just add subtitles
For foreigners to understand. Maybe the interviewer is a foreigner. They expressed themselves very well even with some Grammar lapses
One piece o marvel nlng ukitin nyo
