I absolutely LOVED the exfils in Titanfall 1. It really hammered down how unbelievably skilled and valuable the Pilots were. Even though your side was losing, in most other games the match would just end, but in Titanfall the fleet risked delaying the retreat to send down a dropship to actually try to save and exfiltrate the Pilots. That's AMAZING world building by gameplay mechanics.

One thing I think that was so much better titanfall 1 than in 2 was the immersion. Until you died, you STAYED in first person. The best part about the Battle of Demeter is that when you're on the Militia side where one of the 2 dropships get shot and collides with the other dropship. There were 3 actual players in each dropship with 3 different perspectives. So you either got to see the dropship that got shot flying towards you or you were inside of the shot dropship flying towards the other. Also the whole gameplay and cutscenes entirely taking place in the 1st person view also made the game super immersive.

Like when you were a militia pilot that runs into a group of militia grunts, they react in awe like a superhero just dropped out of the sky.
While the IMC grunts react with more professionalism when a friendly pilot comes by, saluting and asking if they have any new orders from the pilot.
The animations too. If you've ever stopped to watch the combat between the AI it's pretty cool. Watching a line grunt take on two foes in hand to hand combat, or watching as a specter holds a grunt up by his neck and watching the grunt try to escape before his throat is crushed.
It's super apparent how much love they put into Titanfall 1, and while it's not to say Titanfall 2 didn't have the love and care put into it, Titanfall 1 had so much world building and so much little bits of care that realistically no one would notice

I wouldve been in middle school when titanfall 1 came out. I was spending the night at my best friends house, his family allowed him to have an Xbox and play shooter games something I envied since I merely got a taste of them with rarely ever getting to play black ops 2 with my step dad. When we spent the night I would eventually get my chance to play some of his shooter games, we used to take turns each time we died. One day he shows me titanfall 1. I knew nothing about it any lore in the game flew over my head, but what I did get was introduced to an unforgettable and amazingly fun shooter experience that instantly cemented Titanfall as one of my all time favorites, I didn’t need a universe but I do appreciate it as I grow older.

I'm a huge nerd for stuff like arma and gunner heat, so when a universe is so advanced that you can have wild shit like in titanfall fit, it sort of becomes a fictional milsim, albeit far different than something like ground branch. I love the fact that all of the weapons, gear, titans, guns, everything looks like function is vital and it was built to be used in combat, as opposed to universes like Halo where the primary transportation on ground is an open top pickup truck because cool space truck.

honestly this makes me really sad because i was introduced to titanfall 2 not that long ago, maybe a year or little under a year ago as i type this up and it became one of my FAVORITE games. have i gotten to play titanfall 2 yet ? no. i have bought it, but im terrified to try opening it up only to maybe find out that my little laptop cant handle it and be absolutely DEVASTATED by that until i can get a better laptop/computer. (for anyones reference, my laptop starts absolutely shitting bricks the moment i open The Finals up - even with the lowest of graphics (which hurts my eyes) and the game being the only thing open.)
the person who introduced me to titanfall 2 streamed the campaign to me and i fell head over heels for the game, and lemme tell you i fell HARD. its so gorgerous and the story was absolutely brilliant to me. and the person would stream some of the pvp matches to me to which i'd be absolutely enthralled by. titanfall 2 took my heart and ran with it.
and now seeing titanfall 1 ? oh my gods i wish i had this game. i wish i did. so badly. i dont mind that there isnt a campaign, its still so pretty to me and unique as well. i can tell love was put into this game along with titanfall 2. i wish i had been able to get my hands on it when it released and reveled in the glow of its opening. i would've only been 8 so it makes sense why i didnt have this game but oh i wish i did. if i ever manage to somehow, SOMEHOW, get my hands on it in the future and there's still people playing it i'll probably put all my time into learning how to play and shoot. im not good at these types of games which makes them intimidating to me but titanfall.. oh wow. it has my heart.

I remember getting the first Titanfall after the real hype of the game kinda died down, still had a player base thankfully and my god from the moment i jumped out that dropship I WAS IN LOVE.
It was just so different but similar enough to other shooters that learning how to get used to the games mechanics didn't feel like a long jump. Wall running and Parkour added a whole new element of having quick reaction speeds but also good awareness of your surroundings (at for me anyway) i feel like it presented a choice when you saw someone who knew how to effectively move around the map, do you:
1:try to shoot them and get a quick kill.
2:ignore them and find an easier target.
And then the Titans.....fell. it essentially turned all fights on its head, as most people focus on the Titan and then watching two Titans battle was another treat.
I have a story from Titanfall 1 that i will never forget but I promise this happened, perhaps I'll have to search my game recordings but I don't if my excitement caused me to forget.
I don't remember the name of the map but i remember it was more clean and industrial compared to the rest of the maps, lots of roads and the like, my team was getting destroyed and essentially we were close to catching up but our team just wasn't doing well. I happened to be in my team and ended up getting cornered in a V shaped road with buildings blocking my path, i immediately nuke ejected and as i looked time i think there entire team was focused on me and so in one singular nuke ejection i managed to kill most or all there entire team and Titans and giving us the win. Moments like that are what make me enjoy both games.
To not ramble on with this comment, I loved Titanfall 2, genuinely first game to make me cry, having more Titan's was amazing. PLEASE GOD GIVE US THE HOLY TRINITY OF TITANFALL 3

I have played quite a lot of titanfall 2 on pc in the past 3 or so years but its only from seeing some of the footage in this video that i got hit with a huge wave of nostalgia for the first game. I had played the first game on xbox back in 2014 and I played it quite a lot throughout that year, but I was 12 and eventually another new game came out that I played more (probably advanced warfare or ghosts cause i loved those games). But its not until just now that Ive realised that I never played titanfall 2 on console back when it released. All the memories and nostalgia that I was getting from playing tf2 on pc I thought were for titanfall 2 but were actually for titanfall 1. Its confusing because a lot of the visuals in the game are the same, the same weapons and the same maps. But I just googled some of the titanfall 1 maps that never got added to titanfall2 and i had vivid memories of sections of the map, like the training grounds map with the heavy turrets that you could hack. Or the desert map with the zipline in the middle, boneyard I think its called. I remember the airbase map as well. I remember using the mgl and constantly rodeo-ing and how satisfying that was. And I used to suck at using the titans but I always used the vortex shield and the triple grenade launcher. Theres so many memories of maps in both games that I had previously thought were from me playing titanfall 2 in my childhood but were actually of me playing the original titanfall.

Titanfall 1 was definitely a legendary mp based game that capitated me. The game was so unique with removing the pure boots on the ground gameplay to bring immersive robot and ground gunplay that just worked so well together.
Each map in Titanfall 1 was like a multiple layered cake that it was sweet and unique and brought some new on each layer and you could never had to touch the bottom layer if you didn't want to.
I remember I binge played titanfall 1 on launch day for 24 hours and mastered to prestige like that.
The personality in the Titans, the weapons and the world. Where it also puzzles me that no other shooters ever took the epilogue portion of this game. Where you can give the option of the losing team to escape and have the players have a small game of cat and mouse as a finishing touch.
