keeping a guitar in a case is the best thing for it. yeah a little bit of cloudiness or rust on the frets may be inevitable. whatever you do, keep strings on it and tune it up before putting it in long-term storage. the rust on the frets can be fixed by running steel wool across the fretboard. however, when you run steel wool on the fretboard, make sure it is ALONG THE GRAIN of the wood.
Yeah I've had a couple Schecters, nice guitars, i've been curious about their custom shop guitars, heard the prices aren't too bad. Besides that been really contemplating ordering a custom Carvin dc800.
Who eq'd that guitar? Who mic'd that amp? No one in their right mind would want this based on the tone in this video. I'm sure it's a good guitar, but this advertisement would probably be better as a magazine article.
Screamo is a genre actually; basically a post-hardcore influenced sub-genre of emo, but tbh post-hardcore, emo and screamo are all pretty synonymous with each other!
Blackjack SLS is ideal but I don't have enough cash for that, anyways I got the Iron Label anyway, tried the schecter, and for one, I find the Iron Label much more comfortable, looks better and has a much nicer neck
I got the non-trem but to answer your question, it is a floating trem on the trem version so more like a Floyd than a strat so in order to change tunings if you're dropping down, you will have to mess with the springs in the back to get the trem parallel to the body and not floating too much or sinking into the cavity but if you're looking for a guitar that you would constantly change tunings the non-trem would be more useful
I understand where you're coming from. The thing is, Schecters are in fact made in Indonesia, not Korea. If I'm correct Ibanez are also made in Indonesia.
Played one today with the new Gibraltar standard 2 bridge, better bridge but overall it's just feels and looks really cheap, I'd rather get a 2nd hand prestige model anyday!
So.. How is the new neck anny diffrent from a wizardII neck? Thickness 1st and 12th fret is the same, same goes for radius and width? Is the profile change in anny way? I cant see anny changes from the info I found on ibanez.com
To all the idiots arguing about the basswood and rosewood specs.. Um it doesn't fucking matter if you're going to play METAL, when it comes to all the cabs and pedals of distortion you losers use the type of wood doesn't even matter anymore seriously teen guitarists nowadays will argue about any feature of a guitar when all they do is play overly driven guitar
I have one and it play clean as well as high gain really well I'm also 31. also having played metal for years you need a top end high quality axe to cope with all the fx you can use.
you're right to a point, you can't have a guitar with plywood or anything *behringer guitars* but people argue about the differences in tone with wood when the only thing they play is high gain noise metal. Thats what i'm saying doesn't matter, besides basswood in my opinion is one of the better tone woods out there
Benjamin Cable I didn't say all metal players are idiots, I am a metal player, I even own a seven string. I said these guys complaining about the wood specs were idiots. the wood of course matters with clean/crunch and distorted sounds. but overly distorting guitar will sound the same regardless of what guitar you're going to use. This guitar is built for metal, with the active pickups it will allow for longer cables and more pedal(s) usage without the output dying down as it would with passive pickups.
i think they do cover up the whole array of genres / playing styles with the complete prestige 2xxx / 2k series line up. just the mid priced and lower mid priced stuff is advertised to have as much word of mouth as possible at the first flush of presentation
again, i'll go back to my Suhr statement. they're in the upper-3000$ range and bolt-on. and yes these guitars are indonesian. However they're made to higher quality than the RG400 series, and also have name-brand hardware and real binding. that makes construction more expensive. if you ask me, these guitars are cheap for what they are. also, until very recently, all of Jackson's line were bolt-on unless they had the number 1 or 2 in the model name.
Hey, did you get the Trem, or the non-trem? If you got the trem, could you explain how to drop tune/change tunings? Is it like a floyd, or more like a strat? Thanks.
You guys are arguing about all the wrong things. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this guitar has some nice features for the price but at the end of the day metal players want Mahogany and EMG or SD and most likely neck thru. That being said ESP is the best guitar MFG out there period. Everyone I have EVER purchased was hands down flawless and sounded WAY better than Ibanez guitars I've owned for my style music. Shred is another story. Pure metal ESP or Jackson...... Just wish the ESP's branding different. Lots of people do not want to pay for an ESP that says LTD on the headstock.....BUT ANDY JAMES DOESN"T GIVE A SHIT AND SHREDS!
***** yes they are built in factories in South Korea and owned by the same guy but Schecter is making an effort to innovate and listening to the customers. Diverse options and great value. The Banshee Passive series for example targets Ibanez RG directly. They are just as good as RG Premiums for lower price. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my esps and Ibanezes but I've got to give the credit where its due.
Id Like to see a Sevenstring with a FX -Edge , Neck through , Ebony Fretboard , 26/5 Inch scale and in White with Black binding . With phase 1 Blackouts it would be so awesome ! But i think the only reason for getting Something like that is to order one from the Custom shop in Japan . :(
I personally own the model without the floyd trem because i don't like all the mess and set up but yes they do come with fret mark inlays in the top of neck bruh. Love my guitar btw, best guitar I've ever owned out of 6 man!!🤘🤘🤘
When you set gain on your amp at max, you can plug in any guitar, it makes no difference to the sound. RGs sound so much better with vintage pickups and moderate gain, e.g. Tosin Abasi...
no hate bro, only being pissed when people compare mid class korean instruments with premium entry level from europe / usa / japan. of course you get what you pay for at schecters. and of course its about personal taste. but saying a 700 euros korean guitar (which can only be that cheap because somewhere some charges have to be saved) is so much better than all those "overpriced" prestige ibanez for 1200 euros .... and then using crap arguments like "ibanez doesnt even have neck thru and emg"
point is, body wood and how well a guitar "plays" is, for the most part, up to the user. I like a thin neck. it helps because i not only play metal, but finger style of all things. it helps to have a thin neck and strings spaced out for that. I've tried Schecters for this purpose before. it didn't go well, because to me, Schecters don't play well. just because it's your opinion, doesn't mean it's gospel.
your link doesn't work. and i really wonder how many times i have to repeat this today... de gustibus, non disputandum erat. concerning taste, there shall be no argument. in other words, basswood vs mahogany is up to personal taste. there's a reason why Charvel use it on their top models. it gives a different tone. a very punchy, midrangey tone. it defines my sound, and i've heard nothing but good about my sound from people who know what they're doing. I use both a Prestige and an Indo.
I don't get Ibanez. How is this guitar anything new? All they did was add a silly killswitch and EMGs to a run of the mill RG. Schecter and ESP have factory EMGs for years and mahogany, neck thru bodies and cost less than this.
nope youre not correct, only the cheaper stuff is made in indonesia excempt the saber series is made in korea, aswell shitloads of schecter models. the more valuable stuff is handmade in japan by the people of fujigen whose are also building j-customs.
Well, yes, I would get a Schecter over an Ibanez, but, Schecter dosent make a flat Super-Strat guitar (Not including the Banshee), and the only guitars I would buy from Schecter would be the Blackjack SLS series, or the Jeff Loomis series.
let me repeat my statement. "better" is an opinion-based adjective. your own opinion shouldn't be preached to people as fact. I personally don't like the Jackson or Charvel necks. They mimic Ibanez but their shape isn't right. so, to ME, they're not "better." IDGAF what you think is better. but just because a guitar is a bolt-on or has a basswood body doesn't mean it's low quality. Suhr guitars are up with the highest in quality, and that's indisputable. until a year ago, they were ALL bolt-on.
lol .... you chose lower mid value from korea over western europe / north american / japanese craftsmenship level? thats like .... taking the citroen 2cv when you are gven a mercedes benz. and this argument is invalid because ibanez has a domestic premium class line. schecter doesnt, they stop at upper mid class with spec bait and fancy bling bling crap. sorry my dear. of course a 800 euro schecter is better than a 170 euro ibanez gio - but thats not the point.
It's not the fact they're bolt on, it's the fact for what they're selling them for the price is fucking whack. Also keep in mind that Indonesia guitars are cheaper to make because cost of living is extremely cheap. The reason why people with brains still buy Korean and Japanese instruments is they're getting most of their monies worth. The reason why Ibanez gets away from selling their items for so much is because they're not American, so they could care two shits about the western world.
Hundreds of guitar companies that make just as good necks if not better than Ibanez. Jackson Charvel The Agile interceptors Kramer BC Rich (besides the fact they make ugly guitars) Carvin The list goes on. I have an RG1527. It's a great guitar. The price for new 1200 though is overpriced. I could get a Jackson SLAT3 for about the same price or a Hellraiser C-7 FR. Buy it used 500 dollars, so IDGAF, but I'd never buy it new. Ibanez only sells for the name because of people like Vai or Satch.
depends on the model and how many specs were given by fender instead of commonly by jackson/charvel. i miss the jackson stars guitars and the japan made professional jacksons a lot. and i hope the new upper mid class / premium entry class 7 and 8 strings come in more fashionable setups too. like the ones which are being manufactured in india ... sadly. the price/value equation is porn, the price is porn, the value is porn, but for a micro bunch more it could be a giant piece of sex.
ibanez indonesian made guitars, premium and prestige line will bash any schcter korean custom shop off this planet. youre comparing here korean made overpriced socal upper midlass (a lie btw, properly would be lower midclass) secter which is the 2mnd highest priced of that line to a half the priced reliable working horse that has at least the sa,me quality and ability of producing fat sound for much less money n stuff n bla and blubb and - really youre not wrong atall, but you know shit. sry :(
Geez, maybe I,m old but why not just have someone play clean for a change, then we can hear the standard metalcore crappy riffs that every marketing campaign has.And these also come with Dimarzios,so why can,t we hear them too.Instaed of some guy running around screaming like his meth lab just caught fire!
I thought premiums were overpriced. The RG 7 string with the floyd is 799. WTF? Bridge made out of pot metal and the fucking thing has a basswood body, no fucking tops, and is made in Indonesia. Seriously, Ibanez must be REALLY poor or greedy to making such overpriced garbage. Anyone wanna know why they chose such a shitty band for this advert? Because Ibanez is losing money and they're trying to get more people to play their garbage instruments. #S Korea and Japanese craftsmanship FOREVER!
The guitar looks good but bleh at the brocore music in the background. Just because you make a guitar that would appeal to modern metal players doesn't mean you have to stick the epitomy of idiotic cliched crap in the background.

however, when you run steel wool on the fretboard, make sure it is ALONG THE GRAIN of the wood.
The only thing i would change about this guitar is the headstock, a reverse headstock would give more stability and tension on the lower strings.
he's actually an amazing guitarist and a friend of mine. He is 100 times the player you could ever hope to be.
Can you tell me, who he is and what's the name of the band?
Its a good signal, they're going back to the playability and leaving fancy models aside
On letting go tattoo :D
The air i breathe - Deliverance such an awesome song
oh yeah that's the guy that was filling in for the air i breathe. I think he's starting a new project with the vocalist and some new guys.
Yeah I've had a couple Schecters, nice guitars, i've been curious about their custom shop guitars, heard the prices aren't too bad.
Besides that been really contemplating ordering a custom Carvin dc800.
I like the choice of colours
the air i breathe
Who eq'd that guitar? Who mic'd that amp? No one in their right mind would want this based on the tone in this video.
I'm sure it's a good guitar, but this advertisement would probably be better as a magazine article.
These look really great, but it would be nice to have fretboard inlays.
The RG's basswood body maximizes the sensitivity of its EMG active pickups
Screamo is a genre actually; basically a post-hardcore influenced sub-genre of emo, but tbh post-hardcore, emo and screamo are all pretty synonymous with each other!

Don't forget that when you use EMG you are no longer really using the wood either. A shit guitar can sound good with EMG.
Jerrylee Stewart-Gonzalez I prefer Walnut or Black Limba wood.

Guitar is awsome, in my opinion In 2013 IBANEZ has won the war between METAL GUITARS! But what song is playing on background?
Hey, did you get the Trem, or the non-trem? If you got the trem, could you explain how to drop tune/change tunings? Is it like a floyd, or more like a strat? Thanks.
Is this guitar only good for riffing, or can you do some shredding like Shrapnel Records kind of stuff?
You guys are arguing about all the wrong things. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that this guitar has some nice features for the price but at the end of the day metal players want Mahogany and EMG or SD and most likely neck thru. ADZCreations yes they are...I have an SLS w/emg's for sale on Ebay if you are interested...it flawless. $675

Ever heard of this company called Gibson..
Chainheart Machine Yes, some great guitar but they cost too much for the average player.
I want this so bad. I would honestly give organs
they made it just for metal players and gave it regular headstock!? We want it REVERSED! :)
Deliverance
What os the name of the song he play with the killswitch?
Does the whammy bar goes up on the 7 stings guitar?
whats the first song?
I'm pretty sure that's Ibby's fans.
I like Prestiges though. Overpriced, but well made.
But basswood still isn't better is it? My guitar is a budget guitar and it has basswood. Most higher quality guitars have better woods.
Who is the band in the video?
Hey Guys. Did you see his arm tattoo? Its the album cover of " On Letting Go " by Circa Survive xD Hope you like that band too
Not I The Breather. The Air I Breathe.
ibanez promo videos remind me of those cheesy as hell sega saturn commercials of the 90's
thanks! :)
What is that song playing between 0:37 and 0:40 ?
deliverance by the air i breathe
circa survive tattoo?
I hate when people hold their pick like that. Seriously.
where is it made??
song name please!!!!! that was awesome!!!
oh yeah the guitars.. Ibanez is always amazing ;)
Do the fretboards on these at least have side markers?
I personally own the model without the floyd trem because i don't like all the mess and set up but yes they do come with fret mark inlays in the top of neck bruh. Love my guitar btw, best guitar I've ever owned out of 6 man!!🤘🤘🤘
I'm talking about at 0:40. Why do people do that. It's the most inefficient way to hold your pick.,
How about lefty verions
tjon901 YEAH! WHERE THE HELL ARE THE RGs FOR US LEFT-handers?!
What is this band?
When you set gain on your amp at max, you can plug in any guitar, it makes no difference to the sound.
RGs sound so much better with vintage pickups and moderate gain, e.g. Tosin Abasi...
U know what I'm sick of people talkin shit about Maby it's not the guitar for u don't hate on it ffs it is pissin me of
Schecter's makes excellent guitars man, why the hate?
That guitar is fine!, but the advert is nearly unwatchable! :(
Hmmmm... Dunno about the killswitch. Cool addition and all, but I'd rather have a tone nob. The rest of the guitar is awesome though.
THE AIR I BREATHEEEEE!!! lml
circa survive tattoo lol
That first tone is using a lot in deathcore (you should now it
agreed
Maybe because the MTM was a modified RG...
Anything.
Alright. I get to comment on the circa survive tat 3

yeah i know haha I just want to back up my bro
I once sold my ibanez rgd7421 for a schecter C7 blackjack,then i missed my ibanez soooo much=(
the RG looks abit like the MTM isnt she
you say that same exact thing in other videos of this dude lol.
If only it came in fluro green...
I don't get Ibanez. How is this guitar anything new? All they did was add a silly killswitch and EMGs to a run of the mill RG. Schecter and ESP have factory EMGs for years and mahogany, neck thru bodies and cost less than this.
I hate EMGs. At least they didn't use the god-awful 85. The 6 string has a 60 and an 81 and the 7 and 8 use 707's and 808's.
nope youre not correct, only the cheaper stuff is made in indonesia excempt the saber series is made in korea, aswell shitloads of schecter models. the more valuable stuff is handmade in japan by the people of fujigen whose are also building j-customs.
jackson- just value no bs!
Just got this today over a Gibson 70s tribute, it was just so much better hahahaha
I want one. but can't afford it 😟😞
...its 3 years old
Haha you will surely. Save!
Pritam Chatterjee finally I have saved enough to buy RGIR27FE ... I AM so freaking happy!!

of course a 800 euro schecter is better than a 170 euro ibanez gio - but thats not the point.

Thanks for video, but can't understand sound, take a few guitar lessons please, your left hand is very bad, good luck!
Ever tried or just trolling ? ;)
does it really matter? theyre horrendous

ibanez: cheesy campaign - value products
schecter: value campaign / ads / product management - cheesy instruments.
fucking hell eh. I have all Ibanez electrics but this almost made me second guess my choice. how is this doop endorsed...christ almighty.
depends on the model and how many specs were given by fender instead of commonly by jackson/charvel. i miss the jackson stars guitars and the japan made professional jacksons a lot. and i hope the new upper mid class / premium entry class 7 and 8 strings come in more fashionable setups too. like the ones which are being manufactured in india ... sadly. the price/value equation is porn, the price is porn, the value is porn, but for a micro bunch more it could be a giant piece of sex.
this would have been better if they would have gotten good music and a better player :/
