Broadway Backwards is the annual celebration where men sing songs originally written for women and vice versa. In doing so, gay and lesbian stories are told through the great songs of musical theatre and sung by our favorite Broadway performers. Broadway Backwards began as a grassroots concert performed at the Center in 2006. The event quickly grew and now is performed every year in a Broadway theatre. Since 2010, the evening has been produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and benefits BC/EFA and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York.
The 2021 virtual edition of Broadway Backwards provided an emotional and exuberant evening of musical theater performances as it explored how an isolated New Yorker faced the toll of the COVID-19 pandemic and ultimately found hope.
The unprecedented stream, which included new performances blended with favorite onstage numbers from the past, raised a record $749,555 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City. The total surpasses the previous record of $704,491, raised in 2019 at the last in-person version of Broadway Backwards.

@@jessigirlrae1688 I think there's a little card at the bottom of the screen that briefly appears when the song starts? If it's not in this it should be on the original video for each song

I remember watching this a year ago and tried to find it again a couple days later - and it was gone already. I am therefore happy that this back because each song and performer is great.
The ending ensemble singing "You will be found" was fantastic.

That forget about the boy performance was everything. Tony has one of the best voices ever. His tone is really rich and his vibrato is pretty perfect!😍🔥
You guys don’t understand how loud I was yelling sing in harmony, when the three divas started singing together in unison lol! That was amazing🔥 and of course Jay Armstrong!

SO grateful to see the talent emerging again. Like Phoenix rising from the ashes I feel empowered by these wonderfully talented performers who have given their lives and will always give of themselves to provide an escape for us all. "With my back up against the wall, I rise again.. I rise again"!( on the 20th century) but you all knew that !

I remember watching this show a year ago.....too many emotions, tears...and hope.....and now, after the year...they are still the same. My standouts....Pity the Child from Chess, and You will be found.....I think? I know , I needed that...a rainbow heart from Poland

no, 2021 backwards was virtual and they just made the apartment guy and made him react to old acts, you can find them on youtube

2021 Tony Awards sucked! Especially with that guy in the apartment. I kept skipping him to get to the actual performances. The only one I actually enjoyed was Andrew Rannells.
