The cute "girl" in the video is the band's drummer, Roger Taylor! Apparently, he grew a beard when he was younger because he was sick of being mistaken for a girl. Part of the video is a parody of a long running British soap opera about working class families called "Coronation Street", which began in the 1960s, hence the old fashioned look inside the house. (The start of the video is very much like the opening credits of the show.) This music video pretty much ended Queen's popularity in the United States, as the American audience didn't understand the use of drag here (where men dress up as women for comedic effect). It's good to see you both enjoying the song and video and appreciating that it was meant to be humorous and over the top. Your smiles were delightful!

The granny was John Deacon (writer of this song).
And finally the schoolgirl was Roger Taylor, aka Rogerina.

I just adore the fact that every Queen fan has collectively agreed that Roger is "Rogerina" and is absolutely stunning as a woman. Like, nobody else in the band got a nickname, but Roger did LMAO 😂

It's so great seeing a new generation of people falling in love with Queen. SIDE NOTE: Freddy was accused of wanting to have the 'drag' bit in the video because he was gay; however, it was Roger's idea (the drummer) to dress in drag.

Loved the reaction when they saw the band dressed as women. Both these girls are so pretty.
The intent behind dressing in drag came from Roger Taylor. He got the idea from a British TV Show called Coronation Street. At the time when the video was released in 1984, many people weren't into the joke of them being in drag. And as a result, the video got banned from MTV. But they rebounded with the video for Radio Gaga, which led to their appearance at Live Aid '85, and the rest is history.

Roger Taylor is just too cute on this video. This early crush to Roger's character lead me later to accept trans-women's acquired femininity as genuine in social context and treat all such persons accordingly. Great conversations have ensued. There's no need to focus on the physical sexuality all the time. I wish all the genuine ladies were as thoughtful, funny and philosophical as some of those aforementioned persons are.

Always waiting for the reaction to the George Barbier - Art Deco Period illustrator - inspired ballet sequence in this video. The whole thing begins - is bookended - in 'Coronation Street' soap opera style, a series that started in the late 1950s and - as far as I can be aware - still running today. All-in-all, Surreal juxtapositions, like the combination of these two, in his videos was a Freddie thing! The house set itself looks as if it was borrowed from the 'Sykes' situation comedy which was in production at the same time and starred Hattie Jacques and Eric Sykes as brother and sister, Richard Wattis as the neighbour and Deryck Guyler as Constable Turnball. Whether it is actually the same set, or just a generic set that merely looks the same, I haven't got the foggiest! Everything is in exactly the same position as in Sykes though.
We Will Rock You was always played at sporting events in Canada. Great band. Their music covers every type of style. Freddie is the best frontman of all time.

Basically, the song is about the Women’s Movement! The housewife (Freddie) boggled down with the school girl (Roger) Granny (John) & In-law/parent (Brian). Then daydreams about the Royal Ballet, eating grapes, & being carried off!! Don’t we all day dream about that?? 😂🤣😂🤣 It was Roger’s girlfriend idea for the Queen mates to dress in drag as a nod to Coronation Street (British TV show). MTV banned it in America so Freddie said Queen would never tour in the U.S. again!! They didn’t so we Americans suffered without Queen! 👑🎼👑🎼
