CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg) tells Gamble (Will Ferrell) all the reasons he doesn't like him.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A desk-jockey detective and his tough-talking partner get their moment to shine in this buddy police comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, and directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby). New York City detective Allen Gamble (Ferrell) is more comfortable pushing pencils than busting bad guys. A meticulous forensic accountant, his numbers are never off. Detective Terry Hoitz (Wahlberg) is Gamble's reluctant partner. Try as Detective Hoitz might to get back on the streets, an embarrassing encounter with Derek Jeter has left a sizable black mark on his permanent record. Detectives Danson (Dwayne Johnson) and Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson) are the complete opposites of Gamble and Hoitz: unwaveringly confident, they always get their man, and they do it with style to spare. When the time comes for Gamble and Hoitz to prove their mettle and save the day, their incompetence becomes the stuff of legend.

Nobody else in that office is remotely interested in the best argument of all time
I always thought about that as a kid
I think this is a situation that, they want to listen in on but, they don't want to get caught looking at. so everyone is interested, they just can't show it.
They’re cops. 🤷🏻♀️
They probably heard this kind of conversation every single day
I wish these kind of conversations took place at my job...😔
Love that Mark Wahlberg is genuinely upset that his imaginary lion lost to Will Ferrell's imaginary tuna.
“OK first off a lion?? swimming in the ocean?? Lions don’t like water if you placed it near a river or some kind of fresh water source, that’d make sense, but you find yourself swimming in the ocean, 20 foot wave, I’m assuming it’s off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a Full grown, 800 pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends????? You’d lose that battle, you’d lose a battle nine times out of 10”
@@sLimSHadY-cr7tg we saw the video
@@sLimSHadY-cr7tg Only nine? 😂 The only Tuna that could be is the Atlantic Bluefin and is twice the size of what he claimed.
@@sLimSHadY-cr7tg ...why? I mean, we come to the comments after watching it...
Think Will Ferrell improvised that whole monologue himself? Because it seems like he did
Why does this movie get funnier with age.
Dunno? The repetition gratifies an established neural pathway triggering a humor response.
That's how classics work 👍
Did u expect it to go this way.?
@@j_freed Took one semester of PSY 101, now he's an expert on the human brain.
Great leads
"We will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp!"
they gonna need Sandy and Spongebob's help... To the PATTY-WAGON...!!!
“It’s not going to be days at a time. But an hour? An hour forty five? No problem”
"The sound of your piss hitting the urinal, it sounds feminine" hahaha best line of the movie!!!...
😂😂😂
Fr 💀
We’ve talked to our selves, we’ve communicated and said you know what? lions taste good lets go get some more lion
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go?
Nope
We will construct breathing apparatuses, from kelp and form a beach head😀
Tom Berry *we will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp*
Th3Shad0wF0x *Mark Wahlberg then throws hot coffee on your chest*
That Gorilla that will give us enough time to find where you live, go back to the sea, get more oxygen and then stalk you.
God, this scene is gold.
Somebody needs to animate that lion vs tuna battle.
Yes
The way mark questions wills Tuna theory, like if it was a debate is hilarious
Gold, Johnny.... gold!
Mark had no idea how well the tuna had thought this through
After this scene terry changed his computer's desk top background picture from lion to shark
He has imaginary species identity anxiety.
Nah, his desktop background wasn't a lion. It was a peacock
"Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go?...nope!" 😂
You come across a fully grown 800 pound tuna, with 20 or 30 of his friends, you'll lose that battle.. you'll lose that battle 9× out of 10😂
Best scene tho🤣🤣😂🤣😂
I'm just marveling at the fact that you used the actual appropriate multiplication sign instead of just the lame old letter 'x'.
What happens during the 1 out of 10 times?
@@andrewfilipowitz3154 the tuna let the lion win cause they felt sad for it... Or maybe it's because of that one dentist that never approves toothpaste
Sound like best bar arguement of the year👍
How ever made up this dialogue it's a genius 😂
I think it was unscripted.
Yeah I think they just told Will "Lion vs. Tuna" and he did the rest which is why I think Mark was so sincerely interested about the breathing apparatuses
No I wrote this dialogue , it’s all me.
A lot of the stuff in this movie is suprisingly unscripted
@@AwesomeSpidey22 everything was unscripted, the just got the set ready, told Will, Mark and the others to play out an entire movie of two buddy cops.
I went into this movie with no expectations and freaking loved it. This scene is one of my favorites, when I saw this in the theater I was dying laughing.
This and the "No... seriously.... who is that?" scene with Farrell's total smokeshow wife.
I saw this by accident after an eye exam. I couldn't drive home so I caught a movie. I belly laugh every time
"HES DYING" is by far my favorite line hahahaha Michael Keaton kills it
"THEREEEE GOOOOESSS MY HEROOOO..."
@@TheDylls Aim for the bushes.
"We've developed a system... to establish a beach head and aggressively hunt you and your family" 😂😂😂
"breathing apparatus with kelp" - gets me every time lol
I can’t explain how much I love this scene and movie
I love this scene so much. Whenever somebody goes way too far into a hypothetical and gets really specific like that, it’s just too entertaining. Too good. 👌🏻👌🏻
Such an underrated movie. I think this is one of the best comedy films Will Ferrel has ever made. His chemistry with Mark is just awesome. Just look at daddy's home also an underrated movie but funny as f hahahs
Daddy's Home 2 also good and underrated
I absolutely loved his cameo in Wedding Crashers
Daddy’s home was ok. Sequel was meh. But Other Guy’s doesn’t get enough credit.
Compared to some of Will Ferrels other movies, this one doesn’t hold up. Stepbrothers in particular blows this movie out of the water.
The look on mark's face was like 'i lost this argument and it didn't even make sense... how did that happen?' classic
Ferrell was actually lowballing it, if he was referring to the Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, it doesn't weigh 800 lb. It actually weighs almost double that: 1,500 lb and is an APEX PREDATOR. Wahlberg just got OWNED! 😂
The heaviest tuna ever caught wasn't even 1500, I don't know what half assed googling got you to think they all weigh 1500, but it's wrong.
Hell Atlantic bluefin barely get pass 350
@@skankhunt-wy9wy Obviously more than you. It was 1,496 pounds which is close enough. It is variously known as the northern bluefin tuna (mainly when including Pacific bluefin as a subspecies), giant bluefin tuna [for individuals exceeding 150 kg (330 lb)].
@@Sovereign01 So the guy was right and you were wrong? Cool.
@@themonsterunderyourbed9408 LOL no, I don't know where you got that idea from, I was right and he was wrong.
@@Sovereign01 No. You claimed the species grew to about 1500lbs when on average, they are 330lbs... Which you admitted yourself. That makes you wrong about your original comment.
The guy might have been wrong about the largest ever caught, but he was 100% right about the average weight of the species which you grossly over stated.
Bottom line: He's wrong about a particular detail, you are wrong about an entire species.
Just how did Mark Wahlberg didn’t burst out laughing during every take of this scene... Guy is a proper pro. You could see he’s just about holding it in and he succeeded!
Mark sounds like someone who could be a Deadpool Voice Actor
Yeah, Mark Whalberg sounds like a hybrid of Tom Cruise and Ryan Reynolds.
Did that go the way you thaught it was gonna go ... nope.LMAO
pinkisboring lmfao
An hour, hour forty-five, no problem 😂😂
Funniest part imo when he shakes his head saying it
"We will construct a series of breathing apparatus". That part got me good.
*"You know what? Lion tastes good, Let's get some more lion!"* 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
1:26 "how you gonna do that" ROFL he was all into the theory.
"We've developed a system" lol
The best thing about this movie is that you can re-watch it over and over and is still so funny and good. I lost track how many times I've seen it
I love how its the logistics of the argument that pisses him off not the point he was makeing
Will smiling in the beginning always had me laughing
The writing in this movie is on its own level of brilliant.
Brilliant scene, love the chemistry they have
I love these two working together
Confederate Texas brilliant tag name. Not.
"how you gonna do that?"
“ we will construct a series of breathing apparatus with… kelp” 😂 this movie 🤣
😂🤿
A cinematic masterpiece.
mark is trying so hard to hold his laughter
“LION TASTES GOOD! LETS GO GET SOME MORE LION!”
"If you were an extra in this scene you'd have a hard time keeping it together and not laughing your ass off at these two!!"
"Now that's not......nope, you're right."
Lmao he is trying his hardest not to laugh while the other guy (pun not intended) is explaining how tunas will stalk lions in the wilds, i would love to know how many times they had to shoot this scene until they managed to do it without bursting out of laughter.
Supposedly will Ferrell improvised the whole tuna story and that’s why mark is trying not to laugh
@@Reptar2790 Will Ferrell has that effect on his co-stars (see, for example, Jimmy Fallon in the famous More Cowbell sketch)
@@rickdesper Agreed. But to be fair, Jimmy Fallon laughs or breaks character in most sketches 😂
@@rickdesper From what other cast members have stated (Tina Fay and Traci Morgan), Jimmy breaks on purpose to steal focus, and doesn't do it during certain peoples sketches due to threat of severe bodily harm.
there's a compilation of all the bloopers from this scene, and Mark breaks several times
I think mark was so distracted by Will’s response that he completely forget fish can’t walk on land
And we now have a taste for lion.
The 16 dislikes must be from those that are team lion...
I’m on team tuna and I liked this video
that is the funniest comment of all!!!! cheers
he says it with confidence “an hour an hour forty five tops!!!!” one hell of a delivery !! take notes!!
Probably one of the most surprisingly funny bits in moviedom. Just loaded with one liner goodness. Throws coffee on adversary for victory . . . .
I love what a great pair the two made in this move. Playing this all straight, no winks.
“We will corner, your pride, your children, your offspring.”
“How you gonna do that?”
Lmao I love that they were debating this like it would actually happen 😂😂
Pride*
😂😂😂😂
To be fair that was interesting
" you loose that battle, you loose that battle 9 times out of 10" hahahaha...I would like to know how the one time the lion wins goes down HA
An orca decided to start yeeting the tuna to their deaths got tired a swam away without killing the lion.
lose, not loose.
I’ve rewatched this clip a 100 times because I fine this scene very funny when Will and Mark argue about a Lion eating a freaking Tuna 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Anybody else notice it's the "I Dream of Jeannie" theme song he's humming...this scene gets me everytime! We need more of The Other Guys!
I love how Will spits out with facts and fantasy and gets angry at Mark 😂😂
Them two make for a crazy good duo. Whoever first thought of pairing them is a genius
"And then I'll bang your tuna girlfriend!!" I've seen this movie a dozen times, and it never gets old.
"Lion tastes good! Lets go get some more lion."
If this was improvised I clap
This and Tropic Thunder, i can watch it million times
The Other Guys, Tropic Thunder, Hot Fuzz, Austin Powers, probably the funniest movies of all time, and Naked Gun series
Land of the lost is pretty good as well
Best way to win a losing argument? Throw hot coffee on the guy you're arguing with.
Best come back after a phenomenal comeback 😅
When he said, "its not gonna be days at a time, but an hour, hour forty five, no problem" I literally lost it 😂🤣😂
One of the best scenes of all comedy films.
"I'm assuming it's off the coast of South Africa" 😂
Hour, hour 45 gets me every single time.
The coffee throw was the sign of a sore loser.
Last laugh
I like how he adds detials to make it realistic: 'it's not gonna be days at a time, but an hour, hour 45 no problem' 😂
Something about this scene made me laugh so freaking hard!!
Props to the person who edited this scene from hours of bloopers and gags.
We'll construct a series of breathing apparatus 😅😂😂
With kelp!
When this movie came out I could not get into it the first week. Now it’s my favorite movie.
You know what lion tastes good, let’s go get some more lion!!
This is hands down one of the funniest movie scenes of all time
I could watch this movie for the rest of my life and not get sick of it
*_"Did that go the way you thought it was going to go??...NOPE!"_*
LOL!!!
i like when mark was swept up in it said, "how you gonna do that, huh?"
You are out gunned and out manned!!!🤣🤣🤣
A year after it was released, I saw this in a hotel and laughed so hard that the front desk called to ask me to tone it down. (They were very cool about it: I do have a loud laugh.)
Apologizing, I said it might be their fault for making it available.
Two days later, the dude who'd phoned told me that he saw it with his wife and that they woke their kids up laughing.
Silliest damn movie ever. 😆
Mark Whalberg trying not to laugh is funny af lmao
1:58 - me when lose in argument
These two are great together, daddy's home was good to
My all time favorite scene from this movie, man this needs a sequel
We're thinking about that.
"If I were a lion and you were an elderly Vietnamese man...I'd swim out to the middle of the ocean and eat you!"
- Mark Wahlberg
Mark looks like he's gonna straight throttle him lmao
Alan actually presents a good argument
Except the original point made by markiemark was how ridiculous and out of character it would be for the lion to go after tuna in the middle of the ocean...yet he would still do it. The argument continues to support what mark was saying originally..sorry to be petty. Lol
@@danshotguns4226 Except, he took the ridiculousness and ran further with it.
Wahlberg is doing everything he can to not bust out laughing.
No wonder Mark Wahlberg is obsessed with the monologuing. Ferrell is a King! 😂
Best argument ever. Lol
Underrated scene and movie. Period.
How did Will Farrel kept a straight face while delivering his dialogues 😂😂😂😂
I'm so sad they didn't make a second one, and instead made daddy's home 2. However, i could understand it sold alot better as of the wider audience.
The comedy in this is just so underrated and hilarious.
I love this scene to death!
Scott Lang as he's flying between quantum realms:
"Nine times out of ten, it works every time!"
The only flaw I've noticed is that Charles is going to hunt more lion, Willimus states that he will corner "you and your family" when daddy lion died heroically at see, pre-emptively fighting the tuna land invasion.
The funniest part is that Will Farrell's response was totally unscripted as well as the coffee toss! That is a lot of dialog to come up with off the cuff!
Detective Allen got a point 0:43
I’ll be honest even if I wasn’t involved with this conversation I’d just stand their listening and imagining the whole situation
Movie is super underrated. Freakin hilarious.
"The sound of you piss hitting the urinal..it sounds feminine."😂😂😂
I have used that insult many times.
"We've talked to ourselves. -We've communicated "😅😅😅😅😅
I'm literally dead😅😅
The best part of this is Will suggesting that there is a 10% chance a lion can swim out into the ocean and defeat a group of 20 couple hundred pound tuna 😂😂
At 1:33 that face terry made reminds me of Denis Leary when he made that face from the ref 1994
I laughed so much when his wallpaper changed lol :D
best scene in the m movie , hands down!!!
