    Allison, your mom & dad are so cool! I love how she tells him how it is with the F-Bomb! 😂😂 This is so exciting & can’t wait to see part 2 even though you obviously no longer have this van… thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us! 🙃

    Just for anyone else who is thinking about doing something similar. You can actually just make one small hole between the fiberglass and the metal slide a guitar string through and with one person on the outside and one on the inside Use a sawing motion back-and-forth to cut through the glue after removing the screws

    Any video that begins with “AAAAAAAAGH!!!” is awesome. So are your parents for being so supportive! And seeing that sawing...there are so many “Final Cut Pro” puns available here. 🤪 But you are patiently but persistently chasing your dream!

    Just a friendly FYI, (and someone else might have mentioned this), on your next roof removal high top conversion, take the roof off of the BACK of the van. That was waaaaaaaaay too much stress on your windshield, not to mention what would happen to the windshield if you had dropped it. That would have been bad, really bad.
    I'm sooooooo glad to find this video because I'm thinking about doing the same thing and I've only seem one other video where someone did this. Can't wait to see how you did yours and how it turns out!

    I'm on the fence about raising my top, I think I will eventually. Very good video. One suggestion, when you put stuff for us to read, leave it up a little longer. I kept having to rewind to be able to read.

    • @travelsnacks
      @travelsnacks  4 года назад

      Thank you! Raising the roof was A LOT of work! I'll be making a summary video to talk about what we would have done differently so hopefully that will help if you decide to do it. (And I'll leave up the text longer on future videos...thanks for the suggestion!)

      I don't think anyone would want to walk around on their knees daily. Standing in the van is important to me to make it feel like home.

    How was the roof attached to the vehicle with out bolts or screws, that you needed to cut it

    • @travelsnacks
      @travelsnacks  4 года назад

      It was attached with screws (which we unscrewed) but then there was this metal piece and thick black rubbery stuff. There was no way to just unbolt/unscrew. And we couldn't get a blade in to unattach it where the seam of the fiberglass met the metal.

    Lol. You all are comical. Just an FYI for anyone else planning to do that, just make a drywall rig to prop up the fiberglass roof from the inside of the van, or a frame around the van and hoist it up.

    All that work and the end result still looks like a butcher job. To all the people who watches this after me, learn from her and DO NOT do what you see her doing.
