The stations in the city centre - the oldest parts of the underground network - really are in need of some refurbishment and upgrading. They're showing their age and lack of maintenance. The newer stations - in the second half of your video - aged better. Festhalle/Messe and Westend are my favorites when I visited the network. Nice vid as always!

The old stations still look better than newly built light rail stations in Canada.
I’m excited that you finally came to Frankfurt to film some footage of the U-Bahn/light rail system here in my city.
It is for sure not a real subway or metro system, because it‘s not a fully underground network. What makes this one so unique though is that Frankfurt also has a real tram system, which other German cities with a Stadbahn "light rail" system don‘t have. Like for example Cologne, Stuttgart or Hannover😌
This transport system also travels up north outside of the city to Bad Homburg (U2), and Oberursel (U3).
The whole length of the U-Bahn Frankfurt is 65km (86 stations) which 27 being underground. By 2025 we will have another new underground station :)
Düsseldorf and Essen too
You forgot Dortmund
A metro system does not necessarily need to have underground networks. Vancouver has aerial driverless metro. I believe what makes FFM U-bahn not a metro is the overdependence on overhead lines
@@aufstiegundfall it looks more like tram when is not at underground
@@marcuskeulertz5852 Nope, Dortmund doesn't have trams anymore.
Cool video, returned from a July 2024 visit and most of the old lines I rode to work in the 80-90‘s are under renovation and closed with bus replacements.
My best friend, Thank you for your hard work in making the video. I enjoyed the good video. Have a happy day.
Like the sound of the train at 15:15
I love it its beatiful the sound
I was born in frankfurt am main
ahh yes the gorgeous sound of the VGF class U4 bucketing out of the station.
As @Ekh282 put it down below:
"why does that [sic] tram sound like the PS2 startup?"
According to the VDV definition, this is not a subway, but a light rail system. The reason for this is the numerous level crossings in the network.
...not to forget they use FLEXITY F*CKING SWIFTS (tram trains lol)
Love the train colors!
Awesome. I love how those blue (light?) trains accelerate so fast
Alvaro Castro Sebastián they just look so blue in Videos.
Yes, but start moving is very abrupt and unconfortable. You should hold yourself to prevent falling down. I traveld by thouse trains.
Pavel Yudin no i drive with them every day to school, in the city, to friends and they are really comfortable
@@irgendjemand3939 it's more turquoise blue.
@@irgendjemand3939 only the older ones (Type U4, made by Siemens-DUWAG) are actually comfortable. The newer trains (Called U5-25 or U5-50 depending on the length of the individual trains, made by Bombardier (now Alstom)) could have been built with much better seats, but they are alright. I prefer the sounds of them tho
Why are the escalators covered? Once I heard a joke that escalators in Frankfurt never work, is that true? Or what is the context behind this joke/meme?
only 1 hour! i cant wait
The transportation network is really dense in this city i like it especially the S-bahn.
But the should remplace certain trains though with more modern ones. :)
what? They all look very modern
@@PixelpageYT No many materials are very old...
Munich metro and trams please!!! :)
Cool ! From Texas.
Warum machst du nicht Videos von der Stadtbahn in Stuttgart?
mooi gemaakt en veel voertuigen
Nice tequoize trains. The colour looks cool on really hot summer days and warm in the winter. Do these trains have good air conditioning during the summer?
They have.
Hoe film je dit?
Hi from nyc USA Trains sound like nyc subway R179 & R160 subway cars will same sound motor tracer version.
Which boambiaer made R179 compare model trins in Germany 🇩🇪 transit
Sounds a bit like some of the trains in Japan too (the propulsion equipment from Hitachi I think)
both use alstom optonix for propulsion as both are alstom. thats it.
Leuke video
What model of train is this? 2:15
Its a U4 train by Siemens

9:12 interesting livery...
EDIT: I love the pride liveries but here in Aus they suck
I also love the screaming inverters
duuuuwwwww...rrrriiiiiieeewhhhhiiiiieeeeeeeeee is what it sounds like to me 💀
Are they using the same tracks for both u-bahn and s-bahn?
One section of the east-west-tunnel in downtown Frankfurt was built in partnership of municipal U-Bahn authorities and the federal rail (S-Bahn).
The gauge in fact is the same. But the U-Bahn cars have a width of only 2.65 m and they run on DC 750 V.
The u bahn is an s bahn. The s bahn is a u bahn. Welcome to Frankfurt.
Take notes new York
ikr 😂
to be frank[furt] i think tram trains suck but it still works here
na da bin ich Mal auf die Straßenbahn gespannt
