I have never understood the UK's obsession with healthcare and in work benefits (28.5% total Gov spending). Defence and paying down the national debt should take priority in any sane country. National debt is 8.4% of Government spending! Madness and unsustainable. Will only get larger with an ever increasing aging population

Maybe you should get a job some day and that will help you to understand the human condition.

If the UK wants to invest in Defence it should be in securing its shores and skies. Not aircraft carriers that fight wars elsewhere.

When the Royal Navy lost two destroyers and two frigates in the Falklands war it didn’t make a critical difference to the operation in the naval perspective but with current destroyer frigate numbers now it would have serious consequences if it was Falklands 2024 scenario.

Its going to cost more to fix what they've broken, at least 3% or even 4% to regain equipment and capability, then down to 2.5%, 3% to maintain it.

The population will not allow war. Millions are in poverty. You are totally wrong. The protests will be huge. This is a well informed public.

With the lesson of World War II history, it's naive to say, well, Russia has not attacked us (the UK), only Ukraine. Similarly, Adolf invaded Poland, thus not Great Britain -- oops they did in 1940. The objective is the same for the Kremlin now as for Berlin, i.e., compel the West to agree to force negotiation and give in for 'peace' (or frozen conflict), which ignites at will at a later, more suitable time for the aggressor. After the initial humiliating defeat and partial retreat in 2023, their industrial defense complex got into overdrive. It's time to get serious.

Matthew Paris - who is he? Why does he and his warmongering pals volunteer the increase out of their own pocket instead of stealing from the poor.

2.7% is realistic without taking too much away from health and education. Ukraine would have been conquored by now without outside help.

2.7% was what it was in 2010

You pay for it - since you are clearly ignoring US Coup 2014 and slaughter of civillians in Donbas areas and choosing to repeat 🗣💩.
