Hey great video and good to see you back again👊 i found a litte work around for us mpc boys. The problem of the mpc freezing is because there is no midi clip save function. However if you are happy to spoof your mpc into force mode with a usb stick. It works perfectly. Follow toms instructions. Then boot it back into mpc mode again and you are good to go👍
I have the Live II and it has no midi clip save function as you mentioned. How do you put the MPC into force mode? and how to put it back in MPC mode also? Thanks in advance!!
If I may ask, why do you need to delete and create the folder again in the first place? Many thanks for you Force tutorials. I hope there's more to come!!
Can't be done; as Arp is a pre not post effector. The only other way is to; go to edit in the grid view, on the track with the chords, then use convert to progression. This can now be used with Arp to re-record your notes in a new clip.
Was looking at this a few weeks back and realised they're just midi files. How come you have to delete and recreate the folder for it to work? Is it a linux permissions thing and recreating it resets that? Just looked at mine and i didn't even have a Arps Patterns folder. Seems to just look at the actual note regardless of octave and timing data.
Tbh, I'm not sure why; sometimes there can be early forms of instruction which aren't as graceful as they are now, but you have to be really careful that changing anything doesn't break or change something else, which in turn creates more issues. I'm sure it'll get looked at, it just won't be a priority at present. This is a quick fix I noticed, that won't get me in trouble (I hope!), as I'm not in the marketing or brand area of the company, so I have to be really careful what I do or say.🙏🏾

As soon as you press play along with any other track, it doesn’t reset arp at beginning of pattern when I change key, as if it’s constantly latched . It’s the same with preset patterns. Is this a setting on my force that’s doing this?
Yeah I’ve tried that. The latch settings seem to be for using a pedal from what I can read in the manual. It all works normally until I press play and the the patterns are locked into the clip timing as if it’s always latched. Do you have any pedal settings?
I also double checked your other video “using pattens to create amazing ideas” and also when you play the arp pattern, when recording it seems to latch too. But not when you were testing while not running sequencer. It appeared to sound the same whether you held pad down or not ( while recording)
Yes, just place the rhythm you want in the Arp Patterns folder. If you press the next key before releasing the first, the pattern won't reset; so you can create any type of rhythm, arpeggiated or sequential, have fun!
That's genuinely surprising, if you've done EXACTLY what I suggested. Make sure you don't move or delete any other factory folders or files. Best idea; menu > preferences > info - reset preferences. This will set everything back to default (as long as you haven't deleted factory files or folders), then try it again. You should only remove and replace the Arp Patterns folder, nothing else; this will make the OS recognise it as an area for arps. Hope that helps👍🏾
@@nicethings thanks bro. there was no arp patterns folder, so i made one, everything loaded into the arps no prob - but as soon as i used them the akai would freeze. i'll try again soon ! big up
It's not working properly for me. When I export my clip as MIDI, it does not appear in the list of arp patterns. If I export as a pattern, my pattern is visible in the list. But when I select the pattern in the Arp menu, the Force freezes and I have to unplug it. My pattern is one bar long and consists of 16 consecutive 16th notes.
If you follow the vid exactly, it will work. I'm assuming that everyone doing this is on the current firmware, 3.3.0. If for some uniquely rare reason it still has not shown up in your Arp Patterns folder, reset preferences.

From what I discovered; deleting and replacing resets the preference in the code, seems to be fine after that

How about arpeggiating with a custom pattern ? Wie thsi solution we can just playback patters but they dojnt arpeggiate.

I saw that little Select Demo screen! New demos on 3.0?
Was that different? I'm sure I was using 3.3.0. Have you tried changing your Menu > Preferences > Project Defaults - there's different startup options
@@nicethings I noticed new demos after getting the Factory Restoration file from Akai, it brought up new demos once it had rebooted.
