Been meaning to start this little series for a while. I think people discount what’s local to them because they’ve known it all their life. There’s some great fishing and Nature on most peoples doorsteps!
Thanks - hope you enjoy it. You’re quite right. We are always sold the idea of new and better fishing further afield. The ‘better’ you get, the further you travel, until you’re catching bone fish in Cuba or Taimen in Mongolia! But as anglers we are as aware as anyone else about the environmental threats to this planet and making the most of our local fisheries is a good way of reducing carbon and developing ‘hands on’ interest in local conservation and collaborative community efforts to protect the environment.
