Scaramucci is right, Trump can’t possibly justify not debating the Democratic candidate but that doesn’t mean he will debate Harris.
All his focus will be on trying to weasel out of it because he knows he can’t win if he does. I'm not sure that Trump is bright enough to be "afraid" to debate Kamala Harris. She will wipe the floor with him if the same rules are in place that were when Trump debated Biden. In formal terms, Trump didn't even win the debate against Biden (though Trump seems to have won the visual, he didn't win the factual.) Against Harris, he's got nothing or less.

Why would anyone expect a bloodbath if Biden dropped out? What we wanted was a not-Trump, and they're both not-Trump but Harris also has the benefit of not being old.
They expected some kind of internal fight in the Democratic party, between different candidates, trying to elbow each other out.
republicans thought that democrats worship Biden like they worship trump. They though that democrats would be suffering withdrawal symptoms. They forgot that democrats are not in a cult like they are.
