Great film - testing - trial - truth, and supported by beautiful and interesting cinematography, costume, culture and essential detail, actors, director. Watching the film transports you to be there.
Is there anything remaining today that is real? Or, like film, and many people, is life and living only an escape or an illusion as a means of getting thro' the existance that some call life on earth, sadly.
I think Adam is getting his Saints mixed up. St. Peter was hot tempered and recklessly passionate about Christ but he was tested multiple times and failed to 'rise to the occasion', including denying Christ when things got dangerous. I mean, sure, he did EVENTUALLY become a founding member of the early church and maybe that's what Adam is talking about. But that's certainly not what I immediately thought of.
...he was tested multiple times and failed to rise to the occasion including denying Christ...." Peter was full of doubt as Adam said. Don't know how that was not clear to you when you just contradicted yourself in this quote. 🙄

It's genious when Father Rodrigues "denies" Jesus and we hear a roose
crowing afterwards.
Just like Peter.

I think it's awesome that the objectively the greatest American film maker of all time is also a Christian.
What makes him so great though is how he questions things as an artist, including religion.

S.P. was also full of doubt. Adam Driver is correct.
