Edie Falco as Karen is freaking great in that one scene with Julianne Moore as Brenda, talking about her finding her own son. Trying to get her to confess. She broke her.
I have a book to this, really Richard Price has great detail writing, I could feel the tension whilst reading, this is indeed a powerful, heart wrenching, and gripping book I have
I really love this film - sad but very touching and deep. Julianne Moore showed phenomenal acting. I can't believe she still doesn't have the Oscar. It's a crime. Samuel L. Jackson was impressive as always plus great Edie Falco, Ron Eldard. Great and very underrated film
Problem with the movie is that its so bad compared to the novel its based upon. The novel was gritty and realistic and this was just gaudy Hollywood. The director has to take alot of the blame.
True fact - this dramatic thriller was directed by Joe Roth who did the infamous Christmas flick Christmas with the Kranks starring Tim Allen & Jamie Lee Curtis
This movie, part of, was also filmed in Staten Island, N.Y. The part in the old creepy building was in S.I. That building was once called The Richmond County Poor Farm. It's still a creepy mess, they were going to fix it and have made into a 55 and up community homes. But it never went through, I guess to much work and money needed to fix that place. Also a child was murdered there in the 1920's. And another serial killer lived there in the 1970- early 80's who killed children. There's a documentary called 'Cropsey' about what happen there. Creepy place, they should just knock everything down there and get rid of that place. for good. I didn't like this movie. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone to see.
Anyone notice the message.. In the movie the sketch looks just like Trayvon Martin.. the missing boy last name Cody Martin and how her confession in front of the mic was (creepy)longer than the other scenes?? Catch at the end Samuel says How hurt and pain touches us all.. Perplexed
All of that drama started over a whole woman faking her child was kidnapped by a Black man. When she knew her kid was dead the whole time and was her fault. Stupid movie.
Pissed me off! She caused all that stuff to happen in the community and whole time she knew her son was dead. It was all very unnecessary and makes me sick knowing all that was for nothing
@@mrchubbs6104 The sad part is it happens in real life and just think about all the black man sitting in jail right now because of some white person's lie. People (white ppl) would rather believe that black men are some type of untamed heathens that are just so quick to kill with no remorse, then to believe a white person would lie and use the fact that society views black men in the way that I just explained as scapegoat for their own Injustice. It happens all the fucking time.
Gotta stir up racial hatred with fake racism some how though don't they. After all they can hardly find real racism from white people but there's an endless supply from black people.

The book its based upon (with the same character names) was written 24 years before the case.
Why was there a crowd of people standing outside and acting pissed off the whole movie? That was bizarre.
@@powerbite92 I think that was their point.
@@qnvirgo I get you. Shame they made such a bad film out of such a good book.

+Courtney Davenport I saw it! Not nearly as scary as I thought and julianne and Sam were super in it!
Its a great movie! I thought I would be scary as well but it wasn't.

I told my bf to fast forward this movie to the end, how she destroyed an urban community with a lie. I wasn't moved at all with those fake tears.

Great cast, terrible movie.
at least the ending was realistic. I can definitely see a woman basically getting off easily for killing her own child and ruining a black man's life
@@melterrell5724 Yeh but in reality it's always the other way around. The white person always takes the fall for blac criminals.
