      Tokyo is absolutely massive, but I find that once you're on the ground it feels more like a collection of small cities than a single giant one. Everything around the major stations is walkable and you can easily just pick a stop on the Yamanote line and spend the day exploring its surrounding and have a full experience.

      I'm late to watching this. Since I am traveling to Japan in late May, I may possibly consider making Ueno as my base since it has a little of everything. And because it is my first time solo travel and in the country, hopefully this is a great spot for me to make my base.@@NinjaMonkeyguy

    Ueno Park was the first park I went to in 2009. It's a big area with a huge pond and cute paddle swan boats that attract cute ducks to swim near. Beautiful in the Sakura season. Temple. Alleys in Ueno that have many clothing & discount stores.

    Ueno will always have a special place in my heart. As a regular Tokyo traveler. As it was the second place I stayed at on my second trip there. The Eastern side of Tokyo is a lot cheaper than Shinjuku etc. As it has a reputation as being not very cool. But Ueno has a lot of offer.
    Staying at Koto city next week.

      I guess you would want to stay in Tokyo the whole time? If you are really serious about Disney then Tokyo bay area would suite you for Disney. However, if you want to explore more of Japan perhapse you should stay near Tokyo station because it will be easier to explore further afield and explore the rest of Tokyo too.

      Wifi in Japan can be a little tricky so I totally recommend a sim or pocket wifi. If your phone as esim then that could also work well. Obviously your hotel will likely have wifi but it’s not as widespread as you might think . But it depends on how you will use it too

    I hear Shinagawa City is great to stay because it’s right next to the Station accessible for a Shinkansen. What is the main difference between staying there or like Hamamatsucho or further up north. Pretty much that straight line from Shinagawa to Ueno? Is there a sweet spot or just Ueno is the way to go?

    • @NinjaMonkeyguy
      @NinjaMonkeyguy  Год назад

      There is no right way, I guess ueno has more in the area to do and see and is more “traditional” shinegawa is very convenient but perhaps doesn’t have the same charm
