I agree with my fellow slabbers, "lawless" and "Slab City" is just click bait and tourists coming here thinking they can do whatever they want with no consequences, like y'all entering where it clearly stated not to, well, stuff like that, willfully crossing boundaries can get people hurt, and yes, even murdered. And yes, there have been murders here, but also accidental deaths, overdoses, suicides, medical/natural causes. Life us a terminal condition. Any place that has existed long enough there will eventually be similar experiences, but an 80 year old apartment building isn't nearly as sensationalized. I'm glad you had a great experience here, and your editing was on point. I was ready to be p!$$ed at you for the title, still don't like that click bait b.s. but you showed, for the most part the genuine Slab City. (But seriously, don't cross boundaries)
I totally get it William! I had a less click baity title and thumbnail at first but no one was watching! People, unfortunately, only click on sensational. Dang, anyone who goes thinking they can get away with crossing boundaries is just.. an idiot. Thanks for watching and understanding! All the best my friend.
So what steps would you suggest and what are the accepted rules of conduct for someone who might choose to move there? If it's less inhabited in the Summer, do people who will be returning mark off their area as taken?
@@abandonedstuff4930 There is always space for another, even during the annual February rave when we can swell to 5,000 people, there is always pace. Might not have much shade from trees or bushes, need to be mindful of where it floods out, maybe not from the rain that falls directly overhead but what rushes down from Coachella Mountains. I've heard slabbers say it is the island of misfit toys where all the toys fit in. Seriously, how often do you see someone walking around in a full panda suit? How often do you see three or four people riding on the outside of the car? How often do you see a dozen strangers (we aren't strangers for long) bathing and soaking in a hot spring and it's not weird. And if someone acts like a pervert at the hot spring everyone rallies to protect such healing spaces. Babylon (anyplace outside of Slab City) has trained us to see nakedness equate to sexual energy, which in reality nakedness isn't inherently sexual. Pull Slab City up on Google maps and see all the miles upon miles of empty space. (Google maps doesn't show all the spaces that are currently occupied, but there is still plenty of space.
It is easy to make it look positive if you go for a few days and the residents know they will be in a video. I feel these videos are dangerous that only portray a part of the City. I lived there for 2 years .
@@johnziggykelleher4871 I've never been there, but I've heard the horror stories from former residents. From burning down houses, to tweakers stealing everything they can, to violence. It would be foolish to take any one video as evidence of saftey.
Skip it. I have helped with 3 rescues so far. There are no services. No water, no power, no food no sewer. People show up broke with ideas of living free, and go downhill from there. It's very expensive to run a generator for a/c. Hauling water requires a truck and gas. Expensive. You have to drive for food, also expensive. Living free is not free. Don't go unless you can support yourself. If you have money, someone will try to get that money. Take a gun. The meth heads will destroy your water tote to steal water. Anything left unguarded will be stolen. The only way to survive there is to make the right friends fast.

I have considered coming to live here. Is there any space for another?
@@LyfeUntethered
he's not your friend, you fool.
This is EPICALLY FASCINATING 💓🙏⚘Thank you for sharing. I never knew this existed. It is quite something and made my heart stir.
Thanks Michelle! Means a lot!
I just love this place and is on my bucket list to visit one day! Even tough my husband is not to enthusiastic about the idea….Great video!🙏🏼👋🏼🇨🇦
Take the trip!
That sounds like a shitty bucket list.
Surface level judgment facts we all should be tired of the same old same old technology has made us weak and vulnerable the people in Slab City have the right idea and they will be stronger than the ones in the city
Gta v made it about aliens and the people made it for GOD if that’s not a sign of what people will say when the believers are taken to heaven I don’t know what else is
I love the phone booth outhouse. That was great.
That dude was hilarious.
Thank God for you Ken! Those half pound burgers are keeping people alive🙏♥️🗽
Ken is awesome.
What a nice tour guide
It seems to float back and forth between good times and bad times. I’ve seen videos of both. Last one was something like the bottle kids, they ask for a dollar and get rude about it. No dollar, they throw bottles at you or your Rv. Seen drug problems and domestic issues. Other times it’s cool and chill. Depends on who’s there I suppose. It’s not lawless. Cops and EMS know it all too well. It’s definitely worth a visit though. Great video 👍🏼
Thanks Salty! Ya, a mixed bag - like everywhere else on earth I guess!
I am a resident of Slab City and the Dollar Kids video was absolute satire.
@@lindy2 honestly that’s good to know. Good way to keep folks away 😂
@@lindy2 What about the pedophiles...that satire too? What about all the meth addicts? That satire too? How about the murders and robberies? Satire again? Nah, it is a very dirty, trashed up, drug pit.
I would say with even no solar farm that technically speaking is closed down
everyones kind and accepting until the drugs and or the drug money runs out
Great job, nice to see what kind of people live there.
Thanks 👍
Kindness goes a long way!
"Insecurity is the illusion that it's only happening to you." So simple but effective. Making a post it on my fridge now ✔️
Impressive. Nice editing. Like something on Discovery Channel.
Wow, thanks!
Laws are an invention kindess and love is human nature
Last lawless city?Try Portland,Seattle,New York ,DC etc etc .
You make a compelling case!
Dude! I've seen this video once before! Had no clue this was the channel! (It's Cam and Anthony - we sanded down the travel trailer😂)
Loved the doc Spencer inventions and overall great cinematography. 👍 *subscribed*
Some residents of Slab City have great philosophies. I can't wait to get there. If anyone robs or assaults me, they will be my "art". Other than that, I'm 100% peaceful.
I've heard of Slab City from the movie, INTO THE WILD. As a commercial driver. I was wondering if the roads there will support the weight of a tractor/trailer, loaded or not. Any info would be appreciated. Loved your video!!!
Thanks Bruce! I don't know about that specifically, but this used to be a military base, so I'd imagine the roads can take it, assuming these are the same, but maybe updated roads?
Thnx for the reply. Next time I pass by I'll give the road a go. Be good and stay safe.
I first heard of it from that movie too
Insecurity is the illusion it’s only happy to you 💫 I needed that
I LOVE IT!!! Now I want to go visit.
Do it!
Gonna have to use that one some time. 😂
It wouldn't of broke if it was actually built with some craftsmanship... 🤣
I love the wizard...
