@@madcrabber1113 Dry heat sure does beat humid heat. I find that out here, it's the radiation from the sun that really gets ya. It's hottest here at sundown, yet it's a lot more manageable than mid afternoon, with the sun right overhead, even though it's multiple degrees cooler.
@Edward J uh, no. i'm an adult who is also a dropout, hello! i have no intention of taking advice from someone who discredits others efforts nilly willy, because if you were any nicer or any smarter you'd be able to realize that being able to do something like this takes effort and a good amount of mental strength. you should be doing something more productive than looking down on others who have a different lifestyle than you. seriously, taking care of that many animals and being able to fix things up with what you have? not everyone can do that. it's a chore, dude, doing that day in and day out. that is by no means lazy, and they do by no means have a lack of motivation. i rest my case.

I was born in the Mojave Desert at a Weapons Training Facility (my dad was Navy) but we moved away when I was only a few weeks old. I’m 62 and I’ve never seen where I was born. interesting perspective on SLAB city. I was one of the military people that did the clean up of the bombing range. Brought to light the other side of life around there.
@@madcrabber1113 It is a big problem, but only for the people who leave their camps for the summer and trust others to watch it. Or the people who have poor fencing and security. What a fascinating, charming couple. I'm eager to explore their channel, as I was just thinking, "Wow, I bet I could learn boatloads from them!" Not at all what I expected, and not what is typically showcased of the residents of Slab City. Thank you for this!
First time watching. You are both amazing. You are courageous and happy. Very articulate and have not bought into anything except that which makes you the best version of you. Love your home. Be well....
What a very lovely couple, so natural and friendly, love their life, and all their collections, but not the clown picture. I can see lots more places like this being filled up with people in years to come, maybe this is how humanity will end up living like all over the world in the future? I always imagined myself living similar to this when the kids leave home, still keeping in touch with my family, but living a more self sufficient life, etc, but bad health stops me from doing this. I admire these kind of people, because they have the courage to live how they want to and they're happy.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your presentation. 🐓I greatly admire your independence and freedom and respect for life. 🌞 I am a collector just like Jessica. I treasure my finds. Your self sustainability is very impressive. I would love to meet both of you and your pets. My weather conditions are the exact opposite. 🥶 My house faces due North 2 miles away from the shoreline of Lake Erie. We get the Arctic winds that cross through Alaska and come over 🇨🇦 Canada to the shores of Lake Erie and beyond. I just went outside and collected huge chunks and shards of ice 🧊 that fell from the front gutter. When the chunks of ice let go and fall it sounded like “incoming.” 😱🥶 The noise was so loud yesterday I thought someone was sliding down the roof of my house every time a huge chunk let go. ☃️🍙 I look forward to more videos from you. Have a wonderful new year.
Now that's my kinda place. I'm a vanlifer, the city life is way to overwhelming, paper thin walls no privacy what so ever.....we get freedom screw the tradition of living on the grid. Especially away from my dead to me family....no citizen judgement, and u cn be yourself.....
They’re more responsible then most people I know. They got jobs to feed their pets. You have any idea how many cats and dogs are dumped by me. Stories I hear about people just letting their dogs die in the heat on their deck. Can’t stand it. But here are these two people who live off the grid and do not have access to what most people do. And yet still manage to be responsible pet owners.

In the video they said they wanted art and plants in their lives and living in camper wasn't giving them that. If you need to watch the video again I think it's near the beginning when they said that.
We have a 1400 sq ft house here with a 2 car garage being built, plus an address and UPS will deliver stuff right to our door. Homeless AF
Edward J we just sold a 1340 sq ft house for $150,000.00. So yes 1400 is a house.
Edward J you sir are a snob! My house was paid for with cash.. so your assumptions are wrong. These people have a right to live how they want and are living the way they want. If you want to come on here putting them down... well It just shows your character.
My wife and I ran into Ryan, Jessica and Peter a few weeks ago. I also did a video on Ryan's inventive ideas,
but unlike you I filmed on the fly. The video quality sucked, but you on the other hand made a wonderful video. I didn't have a chance to visit with Jessica or Peter, but this video filled in all the cool stuff I missed, especially Jessica's art collection. Good to see and hear Ryan again. What an amazing guy, doing amazing things.
awesome! thanks so much! happy you've enjoyed it!
You both did amazing work and we are super appreciative of all the kind words and exposure. I've been hard at work editing our next video to go up soon!
This couple is VERY INTELLIGENT and they took.NOTHING! and made it into a HOME and took VERY LITTLE and made a HOME!! KUDOS to this very INTELLIGENT CREATIVE LOVING COUPLE! they really put one man's TRASH is their TREASURE and turn into working to their ADVANTAGE! they will MAKE IT! KUDOS! to this couple..i really admire tbem!!💖💖
This couple I can tell has such respect for each other. They way they speak and give each other room to get their point of view out is amazing. Much respect to them. I bet nobody wants to mess with them or get on their bad side though. Probably got rounds for years. lol God Bless them...
Two very bright, fascinating, authentic people. A wonderful and instructive video. Thanks a lot to all involved !!
I was born in the Mojave Desert at a Weapons Training Facility (my dad was Navy) but we moved away when I was only a few weeks old. I’m 62 and I’ve never seen where I was born. I plan to be in the area in January and would love to visit for a short time. I am laid back and cool and believe in personal freedom! I hope I get to meet you two! Thank you for the tour!
Today Is The Day
You are 62.dam you look a lot younger than that and attractive.
Bober Bib trying to get her their to rape an old woman it's not even January yet like she said
U damn sure don't look 62 lol I am 48 and people say I look like i am early 30s . Lol .my goal is to look 40 when I'm 60s lol
This is the best most informative video on slab city ever. It gave you tips and information on all and everything that you would need to know.
While watching this, I am uplifted at the determination of the human spirit. The care of the animals is compassion at it's finest. Thanks to everyone that made this story possible.☮️❤️🙂
My father was the self proclaimed prophet in the 80's. It's literally hell on earth. Horrifying things happen to children out there. Most children are robbed of education and groomed to be prostitutes! I got out at 10 years old and couldn't even read. It's a pedophiles dream.
Watching from Australia. This was really real and refreshing.
I hate life but this gives me hope.. Thanks guys for sharing
Find your passion and go for it
interesting perspective on SLAB city. I was one of the military people that did the clean up of the bombing range. Brought to light the other side of life around there.
Not hurting anyone, using an area no one wants, and living decently as much as possible. If only all in such places were like that!
Idk? Seems like theft is a big problem even there.
@@madcrabber1113 It is a big problem, but only for the people who leave their camps for the summer and trust others to watch it. Or the people who have poor fencing and security. Or people who have camps where strangers are in and out all day and things go missing. Be smart with your stuff, and secure your camp.

For some reason, I want to spend some time out there. The couple interviewed seemed interesting. I'd like to live with them for a week or two, see how they live. And I'm from Texas so the heat is nothing new to me!
im going to call in a disturbance.
Wow you guys are like twin flames, totally made for each other.
They are really cute together. You can see that they really respect and care for each other.
Definitely twin flames.
I’m not sure but it may be the three of them? There is another guy there by the name of Peter too!
Triple flames lol
Twin flames aren’t meant to be end up with each other
So inspirational, really! I have enjoyed this video so much and have gotten so much out of it! Taking this tour of Rabbit Side and meeting that awesome and incredibly talented, intelligent, creative, resourceful, and obviously in love couple has been entirely inspirational to me! I'm so happy I came across this tonight!
It's refreshing to see people like this after seeing some of the others on my little rabbit hole expedition I'm going on here. Wonder how they're doing now
totally different way of life man, the chicken coop and mini greenhouse is freaking awesome. so creative these people are, like this is what i imagine life to be! Simplicity 😩
Move out there then!
Mike Davitt it’s on the list one day for sure
Cj Curry they are probably dead and robbed
@@cjcurry2446 No, don't move out there. Get an education and do something you love. That place is a dead end for everyone there. They are surviving but it's no life for a kid.
I've binge watched Slab City videos (having just discovered it) for the past couple of days. Love Rabbitside. A bit of paradise in the desert. Hope to visit you, some (winter) day, soon.
Awesome, thanks! Please do :)
Me too👊
It's amazing how people make the best with what they got it's not trash it's not junk it's a treasure ♥️
With what they chose*
One man's junk is another man's treasure.
It’s truly incredible to see what people can build when you give them the freedom to. Definitely my favorite people at Slab City, would love to meet them in person. I could listen to them talk forever. Such fascinating and bright people! ❤️
These are the types of people that I love to learn about , especially watching a bunch of videos about this place and not seeing a lot of quality videos , this one is great , absolutely amazing. So resourceful and sweet.
“Just looking at it makes you feel damp”... I laughed so hard. Great video! Thank you guys! Live well!
These two are lovely! I love how they think.
Wonderful video! I really enjoyed watching this!!
You have made a BEAUTIFUL "Homestead" ... Praying for you --- The Youth of America !!!!!
I admire you guys and wish you nothing but the best!
Thanks!
Found your video, very impressive in-depth look at slab city. You both are well spoken & seem to have found what works for the three of you. Clearly reflects your ability to adjust & make your lifestyle successful. Beauty of slab city, anyone can live the way they want there. Best of luck in all you do. Thanks for the informative video. 👍👍
...the way Jessica talks, the tone of her voice, & mannerisms/facial expressions remind me of Grace Slick... :)
Both Jessica and slick, dumb as fuck
These are people I'd like to leave my cool stuff behind for. Great interview!
Cool stuff is our favorite stuff!
Slab City is filled with drug addict thieves. They will just take it.
5 years, no theft. Be smart and people don’t mess with you.
They have amazing neighbors - apparently they live in the slaburbs
Yeah, our "neighborhood" along the canal is quite peaceful and quiet. Everyone along this strip is very motivated and friendly :)
😂😂😂
@@tiffany3294 They don't want your type. So its cool😂
Wow. I love them. Well done, Rabbitside! 🖤
Thank you for finding this brilliant couple and making this vid.
Rajendora thank you! Really appreciate! When I met them I was blown away by them that it really inspired me to share their amazing lifestyle!
Best slab city video ive seen on RUclips thus far. Great job. And even greater people. 💖
Just Jenny awesome! Happy you’ve enjoyed it
What a fascinating interview. I've been to slab city and was fascinated to learn peoples' stories. This makes me want to stay longer and get to know the local folks.
I have to tell you, you are just the best couple, what a sense of humor and you are doing so well! Just wonderful, good for you!!
They talk like you are really there chattin with em
Love your place!! Thanks for being so good to the animals!!❤
Thank you so much for creating/posting this! I've watched a lot of Slab videos and this is a great one!
Wow! This couple are so resourceful and seem very welcoming too. Kudos to them!
Wow! Very informative, very cool, glad that you guys are there, and found your sanctuary.
Be well....
I visited there this past June. Wished I had seen this video before we went. Very articulate storytelling from Jessica and Peter. Thanks!
Thanks! (although the video features Jessie and Ryan, FYI) Stop by if you visit again!
Finally some Slab City people I'm impressed with. Good job guys
I look forward to more videos from you.
I hear you, and need to do this, but have a bad back and no transpo. Can I contact you w questions?
amazingly talented individuals and love the way they connect to each other, think we could all learn from them, hope to meet you guys one day
They’re more responsible then most people I know.
I visited slab city years ago and I am forever in love with that place.
This community reminds me of Mad Max.
More like MAD METH! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
@@PowerofPlacebo Meth heads don't create much. Did you even give enough of a fuck to watch the whole video?
lolz
Reminds me of "The Grapes of Wrath"
This is SO COOL. I hope to visit some day.
Theres different vibes and pockets of Slab, is what Im seeing in these videos. This is way different than other pockets
dude. you are a genius and resourceful. hard life but you have achieved so much. hope it is still going for you. really enjoyed this video and your abilities.
Just found y'all today. I love your place and ideas. It seems as you are making the world a better place. Thank you, for all you do!! I love the art, animals, plants...all of it. Godspeed!!
When I visited the Slabs I found the people to be genuine and interesting like this couple.
You guys are so amazing in all that you do! Great job and you guys are the positive energy in slab city.
In the USA water for the rich people lawns comes before human beings. Some corporations get it for free from the state then sell it to the citizens for 70-80% profit.
What an addictive video. I started watching it and it just got more interesting as time went on. Well done
Oh I love this so much! What a wonderful couple! So crafty! That is a beautiful video!
22:25 - even in the middle of the desert, you can still find wall art from Ikea.
Excellently done! Truthfully informative as well. I love the integration of art, nature, and the stark reality of just staying alive out there. Love the way your displaying your collections. I collect all sort of little oddities. I live them. They all have a story. Eclectic and lovely is Rabbitside. You two are amazing human beings. Much Love to you both. 💖
you guys are soooo cool... you are the most honest and down to earth people I have seen in a long time
I love the couple's jungle bridge painting. It does make you feel like you're in a cool place when it's really hot. Feels like the painting is going to draw you into the wooden bridge. 👍👍👍
I will say if all the slab city vids I’ve seen this is the most encouraging . I wish these folks well .
cool place this slab city. cool kids these two. have my respect. an experimental free town. we are at place in mtns. n.cali. think live same way.
I actually live in a teeny town, that has fewer services than slabville
Is $$ necessary? I'm 54, in the process of getting my back fixed, but flat broke. Don't know how to communicate with ppl here.
where is that? slab dont have any services there. those are in Niland. a nearby town..Here at our place we are self supported. we have well n septic n offgrid solar/wind gen power n internet n cell. what u got there?
Such wonderful creativity! I seldom watch videos this long and was So Satisfied that I did in this case
Very beautiful place, creative and resourceful . Just loved this video
125 degrees Fahrenheit in 51 degrees Celsius n thats wat it reaches in Kalgoorlie western Australia the opal town n they all live under-ground there lol. Thats bloody dam hot i no that much !

I loved this video! You guys have an amazing positive outlook on life! You’re such good role models for society...and Slab City! God Bless you and your homestead!

You guys rock. Intelligent cool laid back people. I hope some day to meet you guys.
Ioved watching this video. Awesome couple. Made me want to go visit and say hello.
These two seem like very friendly and genuine people. And I'll definitely go check out their RUclips channel.
Interesting folks, it feels like I have experienced the 1960s various movements and models for future living.👍
smart smart people! wow was surprised.. really enjoyed this
They are interesting. They are also junkies. I can tell just by looking at them and watching their movements.
@@wolfmantroy6601 so what if they are. They aren't bothering a fcking soul
@@jalex5808 You can never trust a junkie.
@@wolfmantroy6601 you don't know junkies then. Drug addicts spend their days getting high and looking for more drugs. Instead of building up their abode piece by piece with their available time they would be tearing it down until there was nothing left.
I'd like to know about their life before they moved out there and what led to them deciding to move there?
In the video they said they wanted art and plants in their lives and living in camper wasn't giving them that. If you need to watch the video again I think it's near the beginning when they said that. I'm also not saying for sure but I'm probably 90% sure of them saying that is why they moved there and have kept making it bigger.
They were tired of the soul crushing depression that comes with working your ass off and having nothing to show for it just so you can retire when you're too old to work and get a check every month that won't even pay the bills. For now, these guys have definitely found the dream. It's not about being lazy, because they clearly work their asses off, but all of their hard work is theirs completely. Wouldn't you love to work your ass off and for every hour you work the only person it benefits is you, not some company you work for?
Her curation is amazing. She may buy cheap things, but the way she arranges them is priceless. :)
Very cool I really admire what you’ve done with your beautiful home and how happy you both seem! Cheers, Ricky
Wow this is incredible!!! Seriously, I kinda wanna live there!!!
These people are flippin awesome! Honestly, they are geniuses

These people are amazing! Great Slab Video!
You did an EXCELLENT job creating this film!!👏👏👏
I'm really impressed with how you kept it interesting, edited in the signs and vehicle art, ... it's fascinating.
You really are an educator using film. I learned about my prejudices. I judged this couple wrongly at the beginning, and am now impressed with their tenacity and courage.
Bravo!
Thanks!!! That really means a lot to me!
I hope you will continue a career in film. You have a gift blending words, images, sound, timing, light, ...you have a very special, sensitive gift. The world benefits when you use it, and share it. 💓🦋
