    The first part of this is now a 4-lane highway with speed limit 100, further south there is also a newer section with 110. Also, the off-ramp in the opening picture which you need to continue on the E6 has recently been expanded to two lanes. It was a bottleneck during rush hour.

    Rosenberg is based in Trondheim!
    Sligo Rovers FC once played a European match there!

    In the start of the video there is just two lanes but it is about to be expanded to four lanes who is classified as a freeway (motorvei) which means that the signs will be blue.

    Great video...and my fave Fleetwood Mac song. Many people are surprised when they find out it's them, before the Buckingham/Nicks era.

    Narvik as a control city, that's impressive

      I was surprised by that as well. 900 kilometers on twisty two-lane roads, that's a very long day of driving...

      Probably because it is the nearest city on the E6. Now, technically Fauske has gotten city status, but maybe out of cost and tradition they kept the Narvik signs for now. They can only put Bodø on the sign if they include Rv. 80. But I would agree that they can have Mo i Rana or some place like that before Narvik.

      I expected something like Stjørdal or Steinkjer, or maybe even Bodø. Narvik is really far away. Google Maps estimates 14 hours of non-stop driving. In reality it would be tough to drive that in a single day.

      Haha I completely forgot about those. I live in Nordland so maybe I'm just Nordland centric. I tend to forget about the towns in Trøndelag.
      Well, the signage is a mystery. Maybe it is just kept that way for tradition. Narvik used to be an important city in the north, not so much anymore. Who knows, maybe it might even be a trace back to WWII, since Hitler really wanted to get railways up to Narvik.

      E6 is in total some 3000 km and (i think) the longest road in Europe outside Russia (the E6 label was previously used from Rome to Kirkenes). 644 km of E6 is in Nordland county (Namskogan to Narvik), that is like London to Glasgow.

    It is interesting to see that the signs are yellow and not green.

    • @Andreas4696
      @Andreas4696 7 лет назад +4

      Yellow highway signs mean that it is not fully motorway standard. Motorways have blue signs.

    A famous question in Norway:Are you gonna drive the 6? The real meaning is if you go to the North Cape

    • @burger9997
      @burger9997 3 года назад

      If you only drive the 6, the road would go east to Kirkenes, the E69 however goes to the North Cape

    Just a slight correction, Trondheim is actually 4th these days, the 3rd largest (city + metro) is now Stavanger metro, with 319 000 people .

    • @bredevard
      @bredevard 7 лет назад +10

      He is acually not wrong since he says "Norways third largest city with a metropolitan area of....". Because of the difference between definitions of cities and metropolitan area is not the same. So Trondheim is the third largest city in Norway while Stavanger/Sandnes is the third largest metropolitan area in Norway (Trondheim City having 187 k innhibs, and Stavanger City having 130 k innhibs) ;)
