    i bought this motherboard for my new i9 13900KF. I've been using it for about 2 months now and it's been great. I have a couple things to say about this board you should know before buying.
    1.) If you populate the top m.2 slot with an NVME SSD, your Graphics card will run in x8. The reason for this is because the top M.2 slot if PCIe Gen5. I thought this was going to ruin the performance of my RTX 3080, BUT it hasnt! RTX 3080s are PCIe Gen4 cards- and running them in x8 is equivalent to a graphics card that's PCIe Gen3 running in x16 ( like a RTX 2080ti). With that said you want your OS drive to be in the top M.2 slot because it connects directly to the CPU ( if your using a m.2 NVME drive for your OS drive).
    2.) Make sure to write down the CHK number on the motherboard BEFORE installing it! The CHK number is used to fill out your warranty online. The CHK number is located on the side of the 24 pin power cable on the motherboard. Its ahrd to see the number once everything is installed.
    Ive used nothing but MSI boards for my last 5 builds and never had any issues. Plenty of power for the i9 13900/ 14900k. Also, my 64GB of 6400MHz RAM runs at XMP speeds no problem.
    EDIT: i dont know why your VRMs/ Socket temps are that hot mine haven't gone over 50c on VRM and its around 75-80c on the socket under 100% load for 20 minutes(socket only , the CPU die is actually around 84c with EK nucleus). I never had to undervolt anything , maybe the new BIOS fixed all the previous issues it had, it must've

    I own this board and have noticed it goes toe to toe with much more expensive boards with the exception of bells and whistles. However more than adequate for my needs. With my delided 14900K, MSI Lite Load, and 6Ghz+ features I have no trouble daily driving 6.3/4.6 and all core 5.8/4.6Ghz without breaking 320w under full load at a max temp of 82C. Plus there is room to go farther with the OC. I've taken her to 6.2/4.6 all core and she sits right at 97C consuming 430w under load. I am running a DeepCool LT720 which is arguably the best AIO for the 13/14900K. The VRM doesn't get as warm on my board though. All in all, this is a great board, and it runs like a sewing machine. I bought it because of Asus's terrible QC. I received three bad boards from Newegg from different batches. This was meant to be a "get by board" and what a pleasant surprise. This is a solid board that I now happily use to daily drive my 14900K. Asus can pound sand until they get it together. Good review, it's on par with my experience with the board.

      Did you install your ssd in the pcie 5 slot, or you're using one of the chipset slots? If so, is there any performance drop when running the system in pcie 5 x8 mode?

    • @jwhitaker81
      @jwhitaker81 8 месяцев назад

      All my drives are identical 2TB XS70 Gen 4 x 4 drives. One is in the "CPU slot" and the other three are in the "chipset slots". All of the drives hit their rated R/W speeds of 7200mb/s/6400mb/s. Not sure if that helps but they scream. PCI-E 5.0 storage would be a waste for me having what I've got so haven't bought a Gen 5 drive to test out.@@AdeM-kc7sc

    Lighting is a bit OTTTL.😁 Yellow? On my screen it is a similar (flourescent?) green to that of the Mackie speakers. An understated match in fact. I'm not an Intel man, I'll have to look out and see if any of MSI's AM5 boards have the same subtle flashes. I'd certainly go with this over the other contenders if I was Intel favouring atm! Nice board and nice review.

    I recently bought this board and I am trying hard not regretting it as essentially it only has 3 m.2 slots, unless you don't mind dropping your GPU down to x8 then it has 4. Will the lane dropping in speed still be an issue if a pcie 5 GPU was installed into the pcie lane (when they release) for example if you installed a pcie 5 GPU would it run at pcie 4 x8 if m.2 slot 1 was populated? also does running your OS from the chipset m.2 slots really matter much? In my NVME benchmarks testing I have weirdly been getting better results not using the gen 5 m.2 slot 1 which is the only one that runs direct to CPU.

    I have the DDR4 version it's better than a 800$ asus motherboard you might think you lose the 5.0 nvme but no actually you GAIN by not having it because it completely destroys all 700-2000$ motherboards...why ? it takes bandwith from the pcie slots and other nvme slots and sata...it ruins everything else, most 5.0 nvme slot only have 1 useable pciex16 slot and most half the bandwith if you use the 5.0nvme when the manual says x8 it's x8 period x8 4.0 x8 3.0 the rest of the bandwith is LOST

      and once again 5.0 strikes and kills the gpu slot : * PCI_E1 slot will run at PCIe 5.0 x8 mode when installing M.2 PCIe SSD in the M2_1 slot.
      your 4090 will run x8 your 7900xtx will run x8 who wants that ? it pretty much means you cannot use pcie_1 unlike the ddr4 version of this board who has 4 really useable nvme while keeping the gpu slot at x16 also can use 4 sticks of ram unlike ddr5
